Lovely indeed!

I really love this set! The scrub is exactly what I needed, the smell is pretty nice, and the packaging is crazy adorable. The balm isn't really much of a balm, though.

Use

This set is perfect for someone looking for a good lip scrub. A good balm, maybe not so much, but the scrub is lovely and has done wonders for my lips.

It is also perfect for someone who loves cute packaging, but doesn't want to sacrifice product quality for adorable packaging! This stuff works, and it looks lovely too.
The scrub is petroleum based. This wasn't a problem for me, but I know some don't like petroleum, so keep that in mind.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The scrub is a thick, gooey gel-like scrub, of course with little sugar granules. It's very thick, and won't really slide or move if you get it on your finger and move it around/upside down/etc.

The "balm" is semi-solid. If you press your finger into it with enough force, it will buckle under the pressure. It takes little effort to get a good bit of this onto your finger. I would like to note that this feels far more like a thin, somewhat moisturizing lip-gloss than any balm. It has a very slight sticky, thick texture to it that just isn't like any balm I've ever used. I wouldn't necessarily call this moisturizing, but it definitely isn't going to dry your lips out. I would prefer to use another lip balm after the scrub, rather than this one.

It isn't a bad product, just not at all what I was expecting it to be.

Taste / Aroma

I got the Strawberry scent.

The scrub smells awesome. It smells like sweet strawberries and cream. However, if you take a good whiff out of the jar, you can catch an almost plastic, chemical sort of scent. I didn't notice this yucky smell at all during use, just while smelling it right out of the jar. The taste of the scrub, however, is awful! Please try not to get it into your mouth, it's really gross!

The balm also smells lovely. Somewhat like the scrub, it has a slightly unpleasant tinge to it. This is much more subtle than the scrub, but it seems to stay around even when it's applied. I don't notice any taste to the balm, but I do think the slightly sticky texture makes it feel unpleasant if you run your tongue over it.

Performance

I love the scrub. I really needed a good lip scrub, and this has been exactly what I was looking for. I scoop a very small amount out of the jar (much less than I first thought I needed; about a pea-sized amount or smaller), and rub it in circles over my lips. Then I use a damp washcloth to further rub it in. Once finished, I use that same washcloth to get the scrub off. This takes a little bit of rubbing, as it really wants to stick around.

After my lips are all washed, they feel very smooth and look great! My lips are always getting chapped, and covered in dead skin. It's totally gross, and makes it hard for me to wear lipstick. This helps a LOT! I don't find that it's irritating or unpleasant at all.

The "balm" is less exciting. Like I said, it feels like a gloss, so I prefer to just apply another lip balm after using the scrub.

Packaging

This set comes in a little, rectangular cardboard box. The top of it opens easily to reveal the jars inside. I found that the box didn't want to stay together so well and was overall kind of flimsy. It wouldn't really be any good for actual storage, so I just threw it out. The jars are perfectly fine on their own!

The two small jars of scrub and balm measure a little over 1 1/2" tall, and measure the same across the top. The jars are small, but I think they are worth the price and you'll get plenty of uses out of both.

The packaging is decorated nicely as well. The scrub has pink and clear stripes, and a little decorative, floral sort of 'window' on the front where the product name is shown. The balm has a more solid pink along the top, with black stripes on the bottom and the same swirly-looking window with the product name in it.

The jars are screw top and open and close easily. I think they're perfectly functional and look great as well!

This is really well written, and despite the cons it seems like it's worth it.

    • I'm looking for a product to help take off the peeling that results from chapped dry lips. Is the scrub ok to use on chapped lips?
    • Scrubs are great for chapped lips. I've made some homemade before and bought some from Lush. They help remove all the dead skin, just be sure to put lip balm on after.
    • Thanks! I have since tried it and love it!
