As the label instructs, the Tantric Candle by Cal Exotics is designed for couples who want to engage in an intimate massage. All you have to do is light the candle and wait for the wax to melt a bit. Once there is a decent puddle of wax, you can scoop some out with the spoon and either apply it to your hands or directly to your partner's skin.

Since the wax will be rubbed into the skin during the massage, it is important to ensure that you/your partner do not have a negative reaction to the product. To test the product, you should spot check the product wax on a small portion of skin. Additionally, you can check the list of ingredients for any known allergies.

Ingredients (for Passion Fruit scent): Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Prunus Armenica (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Fragrance (parfum), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Copulandrone, Copuline-alike, Reconstituted Andronone.

As the list of ingredients show, the Tantric candle has soy wax, which is body-safe. Additionally, the product is infused with vitamins that will help keep your skin hydrated and smooth.

According to the label, the burn time for this candle is 60 hours. This is quite long, considering the candle comes in a 6 oz container. In order to make your candle last as long as possible, remember to trim the wick and let the candle burn evenly.

When the candle is in it's original, solid state, the wax is a firm block. When I rubbed my finger on the wax, there was a slightly greasy feeling. There was enough wax on my finger that I could rub it into my skin. It did not leave a visible layer of wax, but the candle scent definitely remained.

Once the candle is lit, the consistency of the wax changes. After about 5 minutes, the wax around the wick is more pliable. When I pushed my finger down, it felt an imprint. After an additional 5 minutes (making the total burn time 10 minutes), there was a small pool of melted wax. In order to have a large enough amount of wax for a full massage, I waited approximately 30 minutes.

The melted wax is a bit hard to explain; it is thick and runny at the same time. The consistency makes it great for massaging. The wax was easy to spread on my partner's skin, while leaving a thick layer to massage into his skin. The wax is definitely thicker than a regular massage oil. Some may not like this, but I didn't mind it since it rubbed into the skin quite well.



After the massage, the wax can still be felt. Even an hour after the massage, there was a somewhat greasy feel to my skin. Personally, it didn't bother me, but it would have been preferred if the wax absorbed into the skin better.

The fragrance of my Tantric Candle is passion fruit; the product page lists this scent as passion fruit/vanilla, but the product label has no indication of vanilla. In addition the this scent, the candle is available in vanilla and orange/vanilla.

When I first opened the candle, I was reminded of fruit punch and Sweet Tarts. The scent is pretty strong, even when the candle isn't lit. You could definitely keep the lid off the container and use this candle as an air freshener.

Once the candle is lit, the scent is even stronger. Within minutes, the entire room had a fruity scent. Once the candle was extinguished, the scent remained in the room for quite awhile. I really liked the smell, but it may be overwhelming to some people. If you are the type that gets headaches from strong aromas, I don't suggest you purchase this product (or at least the passion fruit variety).

Furthermore, the wax will leave a fruity scent on the skin. Even two hours after giving my partner a massage, the scent remains on the palm of my hands.

This product is meant for external use only and should not be ingested. Therefore, I cannot comment on the taste of the product. If you are looking for a flavored product, you may want to purchase an edible massage oil or candle instead.

The Tantric massage candle performed quite well overall. I didn't have to wait too long for the wax to melt and I didn't need a lot of wax at once. Just a few drops of the melted wax was enough to coat my boyfriend's upper back.

Once the wax was spread out, it needed to be rubbed in order to prevent it from drying. I recommend concentrating on smaller areas at a time, so the wax won't harden.

The wax does leave a somewhat-greasy film on the skin. I didn't mind it, but if it makes you uncomfortable you can just wipe it off. I have found that the leftover wax cleans up easy with a towel. The scent will still linger though. To rid yourself of the fruit aroma, you will need to use soap and water.

The Tantric candle comes in a 6 oz metal tin. There was a thin layer of plastic wrap around the top of the candle that held the lid in place. There is a small spoon inside the tin that can be used to scoop the melted wax.

On the underside of the candle, there is a simple set of instructions and the list of ingredients.

The label does say that the product is a massage candle, but I feel comfortable enough leaving it on my dresser. If you don't want to leave it out, the candle is easy to store. Just remember to keep the product in a cool place so that it doesn't melt.
