Magic Wand
We do like this massager and I will recommend this to anyone who needs a little relaxing time. The handle is not one that one could use it on their own back but with a partner it works great!Published: May 28, 2011

We saved and saved to purchase this massager, and it was well worth the wait. I will go ahead and get the negative out of the way first. The cord was not long enough to reach where we needed it to go. This was easily fixed with an extension cord, but it did create a pause for a few minutes while we found one that was not being used. As a note to buyer, you may want to make sure you have a small extension cord available prior to the scheduled arrival.
This massager was purchased mainly for its muscle relaxing use, however we did decide to purchase two attachments with it. Please see my other reviews for more information on our thoughts there. However, if you are looking to use this for these purposes, know that the attachments are tight and difficult to get on and off.
As a massager this item worked almost too well. The vibrations are deep and great at relaxing muscles. Our biggest problems have been muscle spasms and dry skin the next day. The spasms are normal and do go away with time, although they can be painful. The dry skin is easily remedied with a good lotion application after using the massager.
The massager is easy to store as if being used for massaging purposes all one must do is unplug it. The packaging does warn against overheating, but we have not found that to be a problem even when used for extended amounts of time.
This massager does have a lot of power, however the noise level is relatively little. It is easy to watch a movie or engage in conversation while using the massager without much difficulty, making it a great massager to use as a couple.
We love this "toy" and have found it to be a great investment.

This works great for healing sore muscles. Can still be a little intense as a vibe, but I am learning to enjoy it more all the time.

Good alternative to Hitachi?

I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!

I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.
I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...

I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!
I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.
I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys! -

HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
