MangoSteam (Mangosteen)

If you want an affordable pamper-you-session that will carry you to a tropical place for the brief moments that are your shower time, this is a great product to get. The Dona Body Wash feels amazing on the skin, leaves your skin feeling hydrated afterwards, and contains ingredients that help to counteract the harsh effects of water on your skin. If you are okay with certain ingredients in your products, this might be a good pick for your pocket.

Use

I purchased this Dona Body Wash in the Mangosteen scent. This body wash is best suited to anyone! I know that some people might recommend this scent more to women than to men, but I am a firm believer that people can use whatever scent they want for their hygiene products.

With that said, although anyone can use the Dona Body Wash, it is not for everyone. Once you check my ingredient highlights further down you will understand, but this is mostly due to the fact that a number of the ingredients are derived from coconut and coconut oil, and if you have severe allergies to coconut, you might want to be extra cautious about this.

Otherwise, it is best suited to using in the shower to wash with. Although the ingredients have anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, I would not use this as shampoo, definitely not for your genitals (and for women douching is not recommended anyway), and it isn't a face wash either. Finally, soaking for extended periods of time is not particularly recommended with some of the ingredients and so do not use this for bubble bath time. Many of ingredients, though natural, are emollients that are meant to allow the product to moisturize your skin in the process of the water washing out your precious natural oils, but they are meant to be rinsed soon after. So please be mindful of these before you use it as a primary soaking agent.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I absolutely love how this body wash feels on my skin. It is thick enough to not be runny, almost like gel, but more viscous so it can easily be pumped out of the bottle while staying on your wash rag or loofah. It is a clear and transparent liquid, and 4 to 5 pumps usually does the job for my entire body. It feels soft (not harsh) on the skin and velvety when you rub it all over your body. It definitely get's a good foam going, but it is more moisturizing than foamy. However, I know some people feel foam means it is working, but I should highlight that products that foam a great deal tend to be harsher on your skin (I am not saying this is always true).

As mentioned it stays in place on your washing implement so you do not have to worry about losing it to the tub floor. It does not feel sticky and it has never felt greasy. My skin always feels thoroughly moisturized after I wash it off.

Taste / Aroma

AROMA
For this product, I decided to get the Mangosteen scented version of the Dona Body Wash to go with my Dona Body Mist (Mangosteen) purchase. It smells exactly like the Body Mist, which I likened to Lychee and other Mangosteen products I have purchased. If you have never eaten Lychee, I also describe it as smelling like a sweet, exotic, tropical fruit. The scent is not overpowering and makes you want to stick around basking in it forever.

TASTE
So unlike my experience with the Body Mist, this did not taste bad at all. I normally do not taste my bath products, but due to the horrible ordeal I had with the Mist, I decided to take a quick test of this. It tastes a little soapy of course, but not even chemically like some soaps can be. Now do not go around eating this! I just want to highlight if you accidentally get some in your mouth or you decide to take an aphrodisi-inspired shower, and you are getting hot and heavy rubbing the soap all over you and your partner, then you do not have to worry too much about bitter interruptions to your play time.

Ingredients with Highlights for Problematic Ingredients (Truth In Aging
You will be happy to know that the majority of the ingredients in this product are safe and are derived from different parts of the coconut as well as pomegranate and other naturual berries. However, if you have certain allergies to things like these, you might want to consider another product

Purified Water (Aqua), Sodium C 14-16 (?) Olefin Sulfonate (?), Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Saccharide Isomerate, Sodium Chloride, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) berry, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed, Euterpe Oleracea (Açaí) Fruit, Morinda Citrifolia (Noni) Fruit, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf, Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Pericarp Extracts, Citric Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

Glycerin Yikes...
Propanediol: Organic Polymer; can be formulated into a variety of industrial products including composites, adhesives, laminates, coatings, moldings, aliphatic polyesters, copolyesters. It is also a solvent and used as an antifreeze and in wood paint.

Methylchloroisothiazolinone/Methylisothiazone In high concentrations Methylchloroisothiazolinone can cause chemical burns and it is a skin and membrane irritant. It was largely removed from most cosmetic products except for those with only short duration skin contact such as rinse-offs, although its inclusion in certain forms makes it more acceptable to sensitive users. (So it isn't the best idea to use this product to make your bubble bath}

Performance

Product Life
So, the best I can say is this product lasts as long as you need it to wash the dirt off of your skin! I know I am being a tad silly, but I have had body washes feel like they "run out" mid wash and I need to reapply it so my washing implement in order to finish washing. Although that is a bit 'first world problems,' I am not a fan of running out of soap mid-wash.
However and sadly, the scent does not last too long out of the shower. It lingers on your skin for about 30 minutes telltale, and an hour close up.

Product Cleaning
Without being too redundant, although this stick around long enough to cleanse, it is easily washed off without any horrible lingering. It is neither greasy nor sticky after washing off. It does its job and then it leaves.

The Positives
If you want a relatively cleansing, nicely scented, and affordable bath this is your product. The scent is great, the quantity is a fair amount (8.5 fl oz/250 mL), and there is no fight to use this. I am not sure how long this will last. I use it almost daily and 1/4 is already gone, but we shall see for follow-up. Finally, it is aphrodisiac-infused, but I do not have as strong a I-want-to-eat-me reaction to this as to the mist.
It is paraben-free, cruelty free, natural, and petro-deriv free. However....

The Negatives
GLYCERIN rears its ugly head in the ingredients! Also, the bottle design makes it difficult to see how much is left.

Besides that, I really like it.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water

Packaging

This product arrived discreet Eden packaging, but just the bottle in the box.

It had the elegant but unpretentious lace floral pattern characteristic of the Dona products, but this time in purple and black. I always say their label reminds me of lace stockings.

On the bottle the body wash is identified as Step #2 in this line of products, Cleanse. On the back it says "Treat your skin to a sensual and clean lather" and it is described as a "rich and gentle exfoliating body wash. Superfruit and Aphrodisiac-infused. Cleanse your body; release your passion."

It is then followed by short instructions, "apply and lather generously all over your body. Rinse and follow-up with your favorite DONA body lotion." It then says the instructions in three other languages (Spanish, French, and German) followed by a list of ingredients.

The bottle packaging is discreet, except for the aphrodisiac-infused ritual label across the front. It is even so discreet the contents are hidden from you! I wish it were easier to see how much I had left, but the label wraps around the entire bottle. Although this doesn't leak, it isn't particularly suitable to travel due to the pump dispenser, but you can always pour some over into a travel bottle without too much trouble.

Follow-up commentary
I have to say that I really love this body wash. Although I wish the scent lingered longer, it makes my skin feel nice and soft and does not dry it out. A little over two months later, it is almost finished and that isn't even using it every day (about 3 to 4 times per week at 4 pumps per shower) since I use other body washes.

I can definitely see myself getting some more of this. It foams up nicely, the smell is not overwhelming, and you really do feel nourished and refreshed afterwards.
