Massage it, Don't eat it!

Shunga Massage cream is an edible massage cream that is available in a variety of scents. It is a smooth textured cream that is lightly scented. The Massage Cream works well for giving a sensual massage. It rubs in nicely and leaves a light scent on the skin. The cream does have a lotion taste and I prefer not to taste it and becomes sticky after rubbed in and must be washed off.

Use

Shunga Massage Cream is a thick cream that is made for the purpose of sensual edible massage by Shunga. It is available in a variety of flavors and scents. I personally have Cherry. Men, women, and couples will adore this lightly scented cream to use for kneading all over the body.

The Massage Cream does contain Glycerin for flavoring. If you are sensitive to Glycerin or diabetic, I strongly discourage this product. Glycerin can irritate skin. If large amounts of Glycerin are consumed it can effect Blood Sugar.

Ingredients:
Water, Stearic acid, Glycerin, Carthamus tinctorius, Sorbitol, Cetyl alcohol, Glyceryl stearate, Peg 100 stearate, Petrolatum, Triethanolamine, Aroma, Methylparaben, Sodium saccharin, Honey, Tocopherol acetate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazol.

Shunga Massage Cream is very thick, even more so than lotion. It has a soft, non grainy texture that rubs smooth across the skin. The cream does contain Glycerin and is sticky. The cream can be scooped out with my hand and it does not run over the container.

Taste / Aroma

The aroma of the Massage Cream is wonderful. My flavor is Cherry. It smells great. The scent is not overpowering, so I don't believe anyone would be sensitive to it. It is a mild Cherry scent. After massaging it into the skin, I smell like a piece of candy, yum! The taste is a whole other subject. I didn't like it at all. Of course we aren't really supposed to eat this out of the canister either. The Massage Cream is supposed to be rubbed in during massage and then you can lick or taste your partner. However, when I did this I tasted sugary lotion. I didn't care for it much at all and won't be licking it again. The Massage Cream leaves a horrid aftertaste in my mouth that I just cannot cope with.

Performance

The Massage Cream does work really well for massaging or just to lotion myself. It rubs in smoothly and creates a soft, moisturized skin. It does rub in quicker than oils because it is a cream. I still like it because it has a different texture rather than the typical massage oil and it smells good.

I only have one complaint about the performance. The Glycerin makes my skin very sticky. So sticky that I must immediately go wash it off. I just can't stand the feel of my skin after the massage. I enjoy the texture while it is being rubbed in, it works very well for kneading deep into my muscles, but it still is very uncomfortable for me to just lay there afterward. I am running for the shower to get it off.

Experience

I did like the smell and the texture of the cream during use. I still think it is a good product. I like to use it. I just don't like that I have to run to the shower right after we are done massaging. I just can't handle my skin feeling sticky. Other than that, it is a great product. Has a wonderful scent, but I won't be eating it. Edible, huh, I think not.

Interesting note about the blood sugar, I had never even thought of including that. I suppose if a person were diabetic or hypoglycemic or the like that would be relevant info; I'll be including that in future reviews! As for the taste?aftertaste, I have honestly not been able to find a single lube/lotion that tasted good. And I have tried quite a few, included some Shunga stuff. Sliquid is left on my list along with a couple of others, but I am kinda hopeless at this point.

Anyway, great review!

Thanks for the great review. I enjoy more "candy like" things and thus will likely enjoy these. Am ordering some. What is interesting, is that OTHER reviewers said they think it "tastes great", which is certainly NOT what you describe. Hum? Now I am wondering HOW they really taste???

  • Does the Shunga massage cream smell like yogurt?
    • I've tried the Kama Sutra Body Souffle's and they smell like yogurt. Do these smell like that too? Or are these more sugary/candy like? I really don't like the yogurty smell, it's just not my thing. Also when you rub this in does it start to pill up like the Kama Sutra does? Thanks.
    • In general Shunga products are more candy like than Kama Sutra's. The one I have from Shunga, the cherry one, doesn't smell like yogurt at all. To me it smelled (and tasted) a lot like candy, you can read my review on it here. This one seems to soak in like a regular lotion would, only it tastes better.
