More Than Your Average Massage Oil

JO Massage Glide is a silicone based product that makes it easy to transition from a massage, to sex, since it can be used as a lubricant and is condom safe. It is long lasting, has a great texture, and is available in plain, warming, or scented versions.

Use

JO All-In-One Massage Glide is a silicone based product that can be used for massage, or as a lubricant. I own the plain and warming versions, and it's also available in citrus or lavendar scents. It is compatible with condoms, and according to the manfacturer can be used with high quality silicone toys. The bottle suggests using it as a skin or tattoo conditioner. I have used it for shaving, and you could also use it in your hair as a shine serum. Silicone doesn't dissolve in water and needs soap to be removed, so it is a great lube for underwater use.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I love the texture of this product. The silicone is similar in feel to an oil, but more silky and less greasy. It is fairly thick (much thicker than olive oil, for example) so it isn't drippy and messy during application, but it spreads to a thin layer when it is applied to the skin. It reduces drag and allows hands to slide across the skin, but it isn't super slippey, and still allows some friction to be felt. It doesn't feel cool when it is applied like a water-based lube usually does.

Taste / Aroma

The Warming Massage Glide smells and tastes like mint. The flavour isn't very strong, but the scent is quite noticeable during use, though not overwhelming. The Sensual Massage Glide has no scent or flavour.

Performance

I love being able to go from massage, to foreplay, to sex using one product, and not having to worry about condom compatibility.

The massage glide is very long lasting. It never dries up, but it will start to absorb into the skin over time. I find that a loonie sized amount (about an inch wide for all you non-Canadians) is enough to cover my boyfriend's back, and I usually don't need to reapply it. Based on how much I've used so far, I'm guessing I could get about 50 massages out of the bottle.

As I mentioned, the massage glide helps your hands slide across the skin, but it isn't extremely slippery and allows some friction to be felt. I find that to be a very good thing during massage, or for fingering, and it was also enough for me during vaginal sex. Unfortunately, my boyfriend wasn't a big fan of this for handjobs. He likes them to be very slick, and much prefers the texture of the System JO H2O flavored lube that I usually use on him. I had to reapply the massage glide 3 or 4 times to keep it slippery enough for him. It also isn't the best choice if you want to incorporate oral sex into the session. It doesn't taste bad, but the texture feels a bit unpleasant in my mouth.I haven't tried it for anal sex yet, and I'm not sure if I would find it slippery enough for that, but it worked well for me with a butt plug, and for a glass dildo used anally. I have used this with silicone toys and had no reactions so far, but I always do a spot test first.

You will need soap and water to fully remove the product from the skin, but since it feels silky and moisturizing rather than greasy or sticky, I don't feel the need to wash it off. I also don't worry about silicone clogging my pores like I do with oils.

The warming version really doesn't feel warming to me. As you would expect from a mint scented product, it has more of a tingling or cooling feel. When applied to my back I find the feeling very subtle. When I use it as lube it is much more obvious, but not overwhelming and doesn't give me the burning sensation that some other warming or cooling products have. My boyfriend actually didn't notice any extra sensation when I used the warming version on him. I guess he's not as sensitive as I am. If you're looking for a product that adds an intense sensation, I really wouldn't recommend this.

Packaging

The massage glide comes in a clear plastic bottle with a click top lid. It is easy for me to open and close with one hand, even when my hand is slippery. It comes with a plastic stopper under the lid to prevent leaking during shipping. You could also save it to use for travel.

Since it says Massage Glide in larger letters, and has Personal Lubricant in fine print, some people may feel more comfortable with leaving this product out than a bottle prominantly labelled as lube.

The label claims that 1 bottle of JO Massage Glide is equal to 10 bottles of other massage oils. I don't have experience with a lot of massage oils, but I find that claim a little over the top.

The back of the bottle has the usual instructions, warnings, and ingredient list.

Personal comments

According to the bottle, the Warming Massage Glide contains Cyclopentasilxane, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone, and Citrus Officinalis (Fragrance).

I believe that the last ingredient is a mistake, and that this is actually the ingredient list for the Citrus Massage Glide. I emailed the company about this a few weeks ago, but have not received a reply. According to their specs pages on the System JO website, the Warming version contains Peppermint Essential Oil, and the Citrus version contains Lemon Balm Essential Oil.

The Sensual Massage Glide is made of Cyclopentasilxane, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Dimethiconol, and Dimethicone.
Follow-up commentary
I no longer have the warming version. I left it at my boyfriend's house and the entire bottle spilled onto his carpet. I don't know if the bottle actually leaked, or if he just didn't close the lid. I have a feeling it's the latter, since I know he tends to forget to close lube when he's done with it.

I still have the regular massage glide, and I still like it. Right now, it's our go-to for massages. That's the main way we use it, although it does also get used for fingering or masturbation for me sometimes. It is nice to have a massage oil that is safe for my bits since some products out there have the potential to cause problems. As I wrote in my original review, my boyfriend isn't a big fan of the texture for handjobs, I don't think it works well for anal, and we usually don't use lube for vaginal sex. If my boyfriend liked this more it would get a lot more use than it does, but I still think it's a great product.
