My own personal spa time at home...

I love, love, love this stuff and actually get up 5 minutes earlier each day so I can luxuriate in the morning before work. I love to wake up to the feel of this massaging my skin and waking my other senses up with the really lovely mint smell.

For anyone who loves mint, exfoliation or just waking up with multiple sensuous sensations in your bath or shower, this the for you!

Use

Sugar, Sugar, Walnut Sugar Scrub, Peppermint Almond Coconut... words that are on the front of Bella Il Fiore's bottle of sugar exfoliating scrub. This is intended to sluff off dead skins cells as you shower or bathe on your external epidermis and clean your skin in the process.

The action of the wonderful walnut shell bits and the aroma work together both to relax and invigorate with this glorious concoction.

When you use this scrub you will leave the tub or shower feeling refreshed, relaxed and invigorated.... in a superbly minty fresh and sparkly clean way.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This scrub is very thick and viscous, with fine granuals suspended in this "goop". It is so thick and takes quite a bit of force to get it to squeeze out of the bottle top, BUT I really enjoy using quite a bit at one time (a VERY full tablespoon).

The solution in this scrub looks very densly filled with granuals of abrasive (walnut/sugar grains?), but it thins out to a very wonderful amount when in use and when the water from your shower is added to the mix.

When in use this still feels thick and rich while in use, but washes off and leave my skin feeling clean and refreshed, additionally in the bottle the mint smell is quite strong, but washes off equally well, leaving a light fresh and clean smell to the skin.

Taste / Aroma

I am extraordinarily sensitive to scent. Generally, I can actually taste in the back of my pallet and throat when a scent hangs in the air, unless it is derived from some natural source. This lovely scrub, not only causes me no trouble at all, it is invigorating and uplifting to smell and I enjoy the odor very much. When we get to the ingredient list, we'll see why.

Other reviews have noted the scent as a detractor, but for me, the scent (and texture) are the whole reason for me to purchase this product. I LOVE it!.

To me the main aroma is definitely a strong peppermint, but there is a woody or nutty (almond?)scent in the background that softens the sharp edge of the mint. The title of the product on the label says that it is "Peppermint Almond Coconut"; however, I'm not able to isolate the coconut odor at all.

This is simply lovely in every way to my sensibilities, and unless you really dislike the odor of mint, this is an incredible scrub.

(I love my EF community, but in this case, I'm passing on a taste test. This product is for external use only, so if you are curious about taste, you will have to let us know in your review).

Performance

I'm a morning shower/bath person, and this works so well at cleaning and exfoliating, with the bonus us also being an morning aromatherapy. With the steam in the shower, and the woody almond, happy and perky mint scent, I get my day off to such a great start and on a subliminal/sensual cheerful start.

It is thick and viscous, I do find that it takes quite a bit of force to squeeze it out of the bottle. Once it is in my hand it rubs on my skin evenly and lathers up in a reasonable amount (not a lot).

The feeling of the gentle abrasive bits across my sleepy skin is a simple luxury, and feels so lovely.

When I'm done enjoying the steamy mint aroma and scrubbing my skin, this rinses off nicely, but stay on until I run it directly under the water.

With the particular combination of ingredients in this product, I have no issues what-so-ever with my various chemical sensitivies. There are quite a few ingredients, so I would encourage anyone who has allergies or sensitivies to make sure there is nothing in this scrub that could trouble you, but for me, its a little slice of a trip to the spa in my own shower.

Packaging

This arrived in a clear plastic squeeze bottle with the standard black plastic screw on cap that you press on one side and the top swivels up to expose the pour hole.

There are 12 fluid ounces of product in the bottle, full to the neck.

This is a very easy system to used one handed, and most shampoos and other bath/shower liquids use this, or similar packaging.

This bottle has a label with the company name, title of the scrub and the general flavor on the front, and then on the back side of the bottle/label is a description of the product as follows:

"Bella's Sugar, Sugar is a refreshing and exhilarating walnut sugar scrub for the whole body. This almond and coconut scented scrub is infused with natural oils, including eye-opening peppermint and soothing extracts. Gently exfoliate and cleanse, leaving your skin smooth and fresh.

Made in the USA"

Then the weight of the contents, website and ingredients list and bar code.

This is very "sweet", girlie and discreet packaging. The bottle itself is too large for flying, and if you're traveling by car or other venue, I would put it in a zip lock bag just to be safe.

I have had the bottle tipped over on its side for two days, while I've worked on my reviews and there have been no spills or drips.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

With the holidays right around the corner, this would make a superb gift for those on your list who love bath and body products, or those that you're quite sure what to get them.

If it's so enjoyable that I will skip hitting the snooze button in the morning in order to enjoy an extra 5 minutes luxuriating with the smell, steam and texture on my skin, it's a really positively powerful product.

In case, while reading this review, you didn't catch it the first 47 times I said it, this is an amazing bath and shower concoction, and I pretty much adore every thing about it. The only way it could be better is to sell it in bigger quantities because I use it up so quickly and make the pour spout a little wider, for my greedy applications.

Experience

This arrived early in the week, and I set it aside for my weekend soak in the tub.

When Saturday rolled, around, I drew my super hot and deep bath and soaked away. Then I tried my first application of this sugar walnut scrub. Oh boy, once I started I couldn't stop scrubbing, because it felt as good on my skin as a massage or when someone washes your hair for you. The texture of the abrasive bits is so nice and invigorating without leaving my skin dry, flaky or sore.

When my water got cold and my skin was all raisin-ish, I got out, and my skin had that clean pink shine with happy fresh skin, and my skin had a very light mint scent lingering.

I usually only take one long "soak" one time a week on the weekend, but I thought about that scrub on Sunday and decided to treat myself again because it felt so nice.

Then on Monday, when the alarm went off, I thought about hitting the snooze, then remembered the scrub and got out of bed on time, so I could have time to enjoy my scrub.

Then on Monday night before settling down to sleep, I always check the time my alarm is set, and thought about the scrub and backed it up 5 minutes, so I'd have more time to enjoy my scrub.

I've now had the bottle about 10 days and I've enjoyed it so much, I've already used a third of the bottle and am eyeing my next purchase. The amount received was quite generous, it is merely that I am greedy in my use.
