Use

This product is best suited for those individuals who normally wear a scent of some sort. The smell isn't super powerful, but to someone who doesn't normally wear cologne/perfume, it can still be overwhelming even when placed away from the nose (in places such as the back of the knee or wrist). I suggest that this product not be placed on the neck or behind the ears as I've seen others do. Despite my love of the scent, I eventually got a headache due to this product's staying power. If I placed only a few dabs behind my knees, this becomes one of my favorite scents.

The back of the bottle does state that "for a special treat, add to bath water." I wouldn't suggest this for other sensitive-nosed users like myself. Any scent when added (even in diluted form) to the entire body can be overwhelming.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This cologne will pour, but it is also thicker than your typical colognes/perfumes. The applicator is sort of a glass wand similar to those found in nail polish (attached to the lid as well), but without the bristles. It goes on a little oily (it actually is an oil) and takes a few minutes to dry. The cologne does not drip easily even off of the applicator. Inside of the bottle, I noticed that it looks a little cloudy, so I do recommend that you shake this bottle to mix before applying.

Taste / Aroma

Originally, upon opening the bottle, the scent was like the FaveReds Starburst Jellybeans. However, once applied you must wait about 15 minutes before the scent bonds with your body chemistry. Though all scents range according to the person wearing them, I found that after letting the cologne sit, I smelled a fruity yet musky smell with a hint of a cedar.

I do not recommend ingesting any perfume or cologne. Though many of these oils are used in different forms to cook with, I still do not recommend it.

The scent is lighter than many colognes and perfumes, but for sensitive wearers, placement is key to keeping this scent light on the nose.

Performance

This scent will easily last all day long (and longer if you don't wash it off) with only a few dabs. This is an oil, and though it is supposed to absorb into the skin, I did notice a bit of a residue. For this reason, I would advise that it should be washed off with soap and water.

Pure Instinct cologne is going to smell different on each individual due to body chemistry and the mix of oils within it. However, the oils contained do not turn rancid, which means that this product can be stored and used for a long period of time.

Packaging

The Pure Instinct bottle is blue with white writing. It is made of glass and contains .5 fluid ounces. As mentioned in the "Texture" category, a glass wand applicator is attached to the lid of the bottle in a similar way to nail polish. The bottle was in a plastic casing when it arrived at my door, and there was place to tear the plastic casing, though I ended up tearing it off in pieces. While the bottle is small and would fit into any purse, I do not recommend traveling with this since it is glass. The last thing you want is oil all over in your purse.

    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense

Special Features

Pure Instinct boasts an increase in sexual attractant pheromones. Pheromones are chemicals meant to affect hormones. The bottle says that it is meant to "stimulate sexual appeal."

The manufacturer also boasts that it:
"Elevates confidence."
"Enhances moods."
"Awakens the senses."

While I'm not sure about the sexual appeal, I definitely agree that it meets the claims of the other three statements. In turn, when your mood is boosted and your confidence is high, you tend to be more sexually appealing to others.

The ingredients are as listed:
* Safflower oil: Safflower oil has been shown to be beneficial to health and often contains Vitamin E.

* Jojoba oil: This stores well and moisturizes.

* Sunflower seed oil: This also supplies Vitamin E.

* Mango seed oil: This ingredient is used as a skin-softener in many places.

* Yuzu oil: This is actually produced from a citrus fruit that resembles an orange.

* Parfum

Personal comments

I know that Pure Instinct is called a "cologne," but it really can be worn by both sexes. My male friends like the smell enough to wonder what I'm wearing, and my female friends tend to want to borrow it as well.

Do I notice that others are more sexually attracted to me thanks to the pheromones? Not in particular. I think it's the change in confidence and that feeling of individualizing that draws people in with this cologne.

Experience

I have one of the most sensitive noses, and I very rarely wear anything scented or even light scented candles in my home. However, I find that if I apply Pure Instinct solely on the back of my knee, I love to wear it out. I work in a grocery store, and I find that I have received a lot of compliments on this cologne even from those who usually wear more "girly" scents themselves.
Follow-up commentary
I still like Pure Instinct's cologne. However, my nose is just too sensitive for everyday use. I'm considering trying to dilute the contents just a little bit with some water, the way it would be diluted if I followed the directions to add it to my bath water. However, my coworkers and customers have commented on the scent, and their reviews have all been positive. I'd love it if they offered this scent in some kind of sachet because I think it would make a great gift. I may even take it upon myself to figure out how to make a homemade sachet.

Nice review. I'm surprised there is an applicator, it's really a good idea.

Thank you, TransMarc! I'm so glad the applicator is attached well. LOL. Otherwise I'm clumsy enough to lose it inside of the bottle.
