Not Another Hitachi Review

The Hitachi Magic Wand is a massager-style vibrator that performs well in a variety of situations. It effectively provides pain relief for aching muscles, a function I enjoy almost daily. But perhaps its best and most obvious feature is its ability bring countless loyal users towards deep and powerful climax on a consistent basis. In addition You can attach any number of appendages to this item, making it both the most powerful and versatile toy I've seen.

Use

The Magic Wand is the first toy I've owned that I've used more for non-sexual reasons than for purely sexual ones. Truth be told, I bought it for two reasons. The first for my chronic neck and head aches. I needed something to loosen the kinks and relieve the knots. The second for it's powerful clitoral upside. I thought my wife would enjoy a step up to the next level of vibrator stimulation. Needless to say, she did.

Hitachi did not let us down on either front. I use it at least 3 times a week to massage the tightest muscles in my neck and shoulders, and it is VERY effective. And on the sexual side of things, we've tried, with increasing success, to build-up gradually to the Magic Wand's HIGH setting. So far just the LOW has given my wife clitoral stimulation and, in no time at all, orgasms that leave her twitching and panting in ecstasy.

Without any attachments, the Magic Wand can be used anywhere you want, as long as it is external. But, simply by adding one, you can expand this toy's portfolio to include G-spot, and even P-spot and anal stimulation. With this toy, a world of pleasure is available to you, all you need to do is plug it in.

Material / Texture

Hitachi constructed the Magic Wand out of white, smooth plastic around the handle. The head is also plastic, but is slightly softer and has a matte finish. The toy has no smell, taste, or residue that I can determine. And in my opinion, the whole device is sturdy enough to last for years.
    • No odor

Design / Shape / Size

I like the way Hitachi designed this toy. The handle is roughly 9 inches long, and is perfect for either one or two hands. Thankfully, it's not too heavy, either, so you can use it for a while without tiring. The Head is about 2 inches long and is attached by way of a flexible neck, which bends very slightly when pressed against the body. This allows light pressure without causing the device to fracture in that fragile spot where the head meets the handle.

Due to its size and electrical cord (which measures approx. 6 feet in length), I wouldn't describe this wand as discreet or travel friendly. But I don't count that as a con since I view these things as necessary in order to achieve the excellent power and performance that this toy is capable of.

On the plus side, having a power chord allows you the freedom of not using, weak, wasteful batteries. It's fantastic. Just plug it in, and go to it.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Magic Wand has two settings: High and Low. Undoubtedly, there is a difference between them, but I personally think they should be labeled High and Ultra High. They are both powerful, so if you are on the sensitive side, and don't enjoy being over-stimulated, I'm not sure this toy is your best choice. But if you love strong, unrelenting vibrations, than don't pass this up.

On the downside, both settings are loud. I would place the noise somewhere between dentist drill and mutant bumble bee. My advice: embrace it. It's well worth the price for how good it makes you feel.

The controls are not unlike the light switches in my Grandparent's house. Click up for high. Click down for low. It's very simple. Also, the switch is easy to reach at any time during use. It is situated on the handle, directly beneath where your thumb should go.
    • Easy to use
    • Not discreet at all
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

The magic wand is a sophisticated electronic device. I would NOT suggest washing it with anything other than sanitary wipes or a cloth. Any attachments you use internally are a different story, of course. But that's something to covered in another review.

I recommend storing this toy in a closed space where it's motor and other moving parts can be protected. The last thing you want is to have it kicked or stepped on accidentally. Also, keep the chord under control and don't let it form knots or kinks. Keep it safe, and it should last you a long time.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store
Follow-up commentary
I use the Hitachi several times a week, and usually it's not for sex. I find it really helps with my migraines and neck pain. My wife is starting to get jealous.

Such a quality item, I don't regret this purchase, and I'd still recommend it to anyone.

Hopefully I'll be filing a Hitachi wand review myself. Likewise, it will also be from therapeutic as well as sexual standpoints. Great review!

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

  • Hitachi
    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
