Not as Fun as We Had Hoped

This kit might be a cute present for a couple that is into spanking, but you might be better off picking up a paddle. The kit seems overpriced for what you get and doesn't really seem to add much to the spanking experience.

Use

The L'Art de la Fessee, which translates to "The Art of Spanking" is a kit by Love to Love to help add a little bit of extra spice to any couple's spanking session. The kit contains a 3.3 oz bottle of spanking powder, a 1.7 oz jar of after spanking cream, and a pair of dice. It is a feminine looking kit, but it can be used by people of all genders and orientations. It can be fun to incorperate into foreplay or any sort of spanking play.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The spanking powder feels a lot like baby powder or powdered sugar. It is easy to get this stuff all over the place, so be careful with it! It rubs in nicely and can't really be seen once it is rubbed in. It can feel slightly sicky when it gets wet, but it is only a very slight sticky feeling. Mostly it makes the skin feel powdery and dry and leaves a smooth surface for spanking.

The cream is very thick and does not pour at all. It feels like a typical cream or lotion while rubbing it in and does not feel greasy or slimy. It absorbs into the skin quickly and does not feel all that moisturizing or hydrating. It leaves the skin with a slight shimmer afterwards.

Taste / Aroma

The spanking powder did not have much of a smell at all to it. It did have a slight sugary smell, but is barely noticable. It is labeled as having a coconut flavor, but to me it tasted like the blue Equal (aspartame) packets. I could not taste any coconut flavor at all.

The after spanking cream has a Tahitian gardenia scent. It did not smell very good at all to me and the scent is quite strong and lingers for hours if it is not washed off. To me it smelled like a very powdery "old lady" perfume smell.

Performance

The spanking powder wasn't too great as an edible and mostly just tasted like artificial sweetener. It did get very slightly sticky after trying to lick it up, but not really enough to be bothersome like with a lot of products. The powder is helpful on a warm day if there is a little bit of moisture from sweat and it helps get things dry without feeling sticky.

The dice were a little bit confusing to us. The pictures were small and difficult to see, so we had to look at the directions often, since they had larger pictures. Many of the positions on the dice looked very similar and were difficult to differentiate because they just seemed to be an alternative drawing of the same position. Three of the positions all seem to be bent over the knee, and two being bent over while standing and the last being on all fours. Each position has a picture both on the dice and in the directions, but in the directions there are also names of each potition. With names like "The benefits of spanking, and "Pleasure to the eye," it's hard to get an idea of what they were going for by the name of the position alone. The other dice has numbers on it. I found it to be a little strange as well. There are 6 sides to the dice but the numbers are repeated so there are two 12's two 6's and two 3's. This gives there even less variety and demands more creativity from the users to make it into a fun game.

After a session of spanking, I typically do put some sort of cream on to soothe my skin a little. I was hoping that this cream would have even more of a soothing effect. So in the name of science, after our session I tried using the after spanking cream on one side of my bottom and my regular lotion on the other. Both sides felt about the same afterwards, so I don't know if this had any special soothing properties to it. It did leave a slight shimmer afterwards but it isn't that niticable.

Packaging

The packaging was super cute! It looks like a hardcover book with a picture of a woman bent over the knee on the front. It is not discreet looking at all, but it is cute and would be nice for gifting. The packaging included directions inside, but they are very brief and don't provide a lot of information. The directions are written in several languages for those who English is not their first language.

The packaging does not stay shut if knocked over and does not stand upright well without the other pieces falling out, so it would not be that great for traveling with but would be great for tucking away in a dresser drawer.

Personal comments

The ingredients for the spanking powder are as follows: Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Sucrose, Aspartame, Sodium Bicarbonate Aroma (Flavor)

The ingredients for the cream are: Aqua (Water), Isopropyl Palmitate, Parfum (Fragrance), Glycerin, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Sodium Polyacrylate, C18-21Alkane, Squalane, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Starch, Synthetic Fluorphilogopite, Trideceth-6, Citric Acid, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxde), 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Magnesium Nitrate, Plumeria Alba Flower Extract, Methylchoroiso-thiazolinone, Magnesium Chloride, Tropolone, Methylisothiazolinone, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Geraniol, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Amyl Cinamal, Citronellol, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Alchol.

Obviously, if you or your partner have any sensitivities to any of the ingredients in either product, it might be best to skip this kit.

Experience

Spanking is something that we only end up doing occasionally. When we end up doing it, it is usually a fun and sexy experience. I was hoping this kit would add a fun twist to our play, and help mix things up a little bit. Unfortunately, we found it to be pretty boring and unnecessary.

At first we weren't really sure what the spanking powder was for. To quote my partner/Dom "Do you eat it or do you just put it on to spank with?" We both found it to taste pretty bad, and while we don't typically like or use edible body powders often, we both agreed there are probably better ones out there than this one. We sprinkled a little bit of it on me, but it really didn't change the way the skanking felt for either of us.

The dice were a little bit odd and it was sort of hard to keep the "game" going. We rolled te dice a few times, but it tended to get repetitive and a little bit annoying to switch positions so often. We got frustrated with this and pushed them aside pretty quickly.

The cream would have been okay if it smelled better, but I will likely just stick to using regular lotion.

While we didn't hate this kit, we felt that this wasn't a product that really enhanced our experience. Some things are just best left being simple and we felt that adding the powder and dice into our spanking session really just made it a little bit more complicated than it needed to be and just interupted our flow more than anything.
