Not as nice as the lotion

This spray did an awesome job... At frustrating me. It doesn't last very long at all, and when layered with the partner lotion it tends to distort the more pleasant scent of the lotion. I wish that I had better things to say about this, and I will be trying other scents because I love all of the options, but this one just didn't work out for me.

Use

This spray by the company Venus is listed as an 'aromatic mist.' Essentially this means that it's intended to be used to scent pretty much anything that you want to spray it on. The only thing that I wouldn't use this to scent would be food stuffs or the air like a Fabreeze spray.

So far I have used this spray mostly in my hair and on my jacket to just give a light, lingering scent. I have also used it on my sheets to make them smell nice ( a great trick if you have company and you don't feel like washing your sheets, by the way) and on my bath towels.

This spray is convenient to take with and it is great to carry around in case you suddenly want a spritz of smelling pleasant. This is a good product to take to the gym, but I may hesitate to take it on the plane or somewhere it will be jostled or smashed a lot because it may leak.

While this product is marketed towards women, men are also welcome to use this. While they have a 'men' smell (I assume that it's a scent that men like and doesn't smell like armpits and oil or what have you) the guys are welcome to look into the other scents like this one.

The ingredients are as follows:

Aqua, Propylene glycol, alcohol, fragrance, DMDM hyndantoin, may contain FD&C yellow #6, FD&C red #33, FD&C Blue #1

While none of these are common allergens, it's still a good idea to do a spot test of this before you spray it all over your body and sheets. It's always an especially good idea to do this when an ingredient listed is 'fragrance' and that can be just about anything.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This body mist is as thin, if not thinner, than water. If you put a drop on your skin it rolls right off, but that's only in a concentrated amount. Because it's so thin this may leak a tiny bit if you smush it or leave it on its side too much, but it didn't leak at all during shipping and I have left it in the car and in a bag a few times since successfully.

The mister on this creates a very fine, light mist. I feel like the mixture of alcohol and water bases allow this to have a longer scent while still letting it be misted very, very finely. This is nice because it allows you to get a very light dose of the scent if that's what you want.

After I spray it onto my skin or clothes it doesn't leave any kind of residue that I can feel. If you have delicate skin it may dry it out a tiny bit because of the alcohol, but otherwise it's fairly 'neutral.' It's not sticky or oily at all, and it doesn't leave your skin looking any different than before application.

Taste / Aroma

One thing that I really like about this line of products is that they have so many scents and they are cheap enough that you can try several. While I was placing an order for an anniversary surprise, I figured that I should stop wishing and try one. I decided on the scent 'milk.'

Now I HATE milk, but the concept of milk is very appealing to me and it makes me think of softness and warmth. Maybe it has to do with the association with milk and honey? I really don't know. I expected a warm vanilla scent from this, but what I got was a bit different from what I expected.

The top notes I get from this are creamy vanilla and maybe oatmeal? It smells very natural and like something you would pick up at the health food store. The bottom notes are maybe a bit almondy and coconuty, but they are a bit too light to stand out and are easily lost when you start moving around and the scent starts to fade.

My main problem with the scent of the spray is that every now and again I pick up some kind of 'sour' note to it. While I am all for citrus scents and love them on their own, I feel that they have no place in my creamy, warm perfume.

The good news is that the lotion doesn't have this issue at all, but that's more for a different review. Used in conjunction with the lotion this does have more of the powerful bottom notes, but the sour scent is still there and I feel even beats out some of the other smells present sometimes.

Even though it smells milky and sweet, I would not recommend eating this because it wouldn't taste good at all and some of the ingredients may make you feel sick if you got enough of them in you. Leave the smell to the outside of your body and try to close your mouth when you spray it.

Overall, this may not be the best scent for a CEO business meeting, but I think that it's very versatile in all other situations. It's not the most 'romantic' scent but it's nice for dates, and I feel that it is a great 'winter/fall' aroma.

Performance

My real qualm with this (other than the weird undertones) is that it fades super quickly. I found that 10 minutes after spraying this several times onto my jacket I could only faintly smell the most prominent notes, and 20 minutes later I couldn't smell it at all, even holding the cloth of my jacket to my nose.

The scents fade in this order
1) Almond/coconutty scent that is hard to smell in the first place
2) The more 'oatmeal'y scent
3) The creamy, vanilla-y scent and the sour scent seem to fade around the same time, but it really depends. I don't know what it depends on, but some days the sour scent lasts much longer than others.

If you hate the scent and have to wash it off, you can use soap and water on your skin or simple detergent on your clothing or linens. If you feel lazy or don't have a washing machine you can always just open a window or let what you sprayed it on air out in the open for a few minutes.

Because of this it pretty much NEEDS to be layered with at least the lotion, but for best results you may need to use the body wash, the spray, and the lotion. I feel like they could have done a lot better with this pray, but if you hate lingering scents this may be right up your alley.

Packaging

This spray comes in a sturdy, nondescript bottle. It seems to correspond to the color of the liquid and the color of the 'scent' you purchased. Because of that mine is white, ivory, black, and transparent. On the front is a white silhouette of a woman, but it's very hard to pick out that that is what you are looking at and I doubt anyone would see it unless they were looking at it.

It describes product in one sentence in English and Spanish, and it also lists all of the ingredients. It doesn't describe the scent or the brand at all. It also lists their website, several warnings, and their postal address. Overall, it's a pretty good bottle compared to some that I've gotten.

Experience

I am so torn on this product it is a bit ridiculous. I am in love with the concept of the scent, especially the scent of the lotion, but the sour undertone to this ruins everything and makes it smell like someone messed up big time making it.

I wear this to class sometimes, but I really feel like after a 10 minute walk from my room tot he lecture hall I smell the same as before I spritzed this on. I have tried using on my jacket, my scarves, my hair, all the usual places that hold scents well and let them waft around me, to no avail.

It just drives me crazy! Why can't this smell as creamy and almondy as the lotion, or last as long? Because this layers well and it smells nice, I am giving this 3 stars. Despite smelling good, fading quickly and the way the sour scent overwhelms even the yummy scent of the layered lotion make this one a loss for me. I may try out a different scent in the future, but for now I may pass this on to a friend.
