Not So New Kind of Bath Bubbles

Often times, bubble bath liquids give you bubbles that don't last or you have to use half the bottle to get the amount of bubbles you want.

Use

The new Dona bath line from System JO is doing an excellent job of providing us with affordable ways to pamper ourselves and they have yet to leave me disappointed. This bath foam is suposed to be "a new kind of bath bubbles". After pouring a couple capfuls into your bath water, you are left with a a thick foam resting atop your water. This bath foam would be nice for anyone who enjoys bathing, or for couples who enjoy some time in the tub together.

This product is all-natural and paraben, petro and deriv free, and cruelty free! But if you have allergies be sure to read the label before use and check the list of ingredients.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Not all bath foams/bubbles are created equal. The gel feels slick and thick before turning into its bubble form under the running bath water. Once in bubble form, the layer of bubbles is rather thin per capful. I find I need about 4 capfuls per bath, just to cover the surface of the water in the tub.

The gel pours out easily. I typically pour the liquid into the cap and place under the water. but it also works well if carefully pouring the gel directly under the stream of water.

Taste / Aroma

The Dona Bath Foam comes in 5 scents: Goji Berry, Pomegranate, Mangosteen, Camu Camu, and Blue Lotus.

I gave the Mangosteen scent a try. It smells so fruity and delicious! I adore the scent and it makes me want to grab the rest of the line. When you take a whiff of the soap straight from the bottle it is strong and incredibly fruity with a very light floral note. If you've eaten a mangosteen before, it doesn't smell like that. It also doesn't smell like a mango. I really wish I could post a scratch'n'sniff because this scent is hard to pinpoint.

Performance

This "foam" is used just like any other bubble bath. You add a small amount under your running bath water. I used two capfuls and used the cap to pour, however you can pour directly from the bottle. Immediately you can see a thick foam building and rapdily your tub is filled with small, fragrant bubbles. With two capfuls of product I was able to achieve about 1.5 inches of bubbles floating atop my water - thick and luxurious.

My issue with these bubbles arises when you step into the tub or move around. The bubbles dissipate very quickly. I was excited to soak under the canopy of thick bubbles but after just a few small movements the bubbles began to burst. After about 5 minutes of tub time, I had hardly any bubbles and only in small areas scattered randomly in my tub.

Sometimes bubbles like to cling onto your skin and can leave a soapy residue behind. If you typically like to rinse off after a bath, then do so. I normally don't. I didn't make an exception for this product and I didn't feel like I had any grime or soapyness left behind.

The bubbles have no color and if there are any left by the time your drain the tub they go down just fine. You may want to rinse your tub, but you certainly don't have to as no slippery bubble stuff will be left behind.

If you were to use 2 capfuls each bath this bottle should last you through 25 uses.

Packaging

This bath foam comes in a tall 9.5 ounce bottle. It closes with a black plastic cap. It comes safety sealed with a sticker strip with the chosen scent printed on it. The front of the label features a lace print, the color differing by the scent you chose. It reads DONA by JO is large white lettering at the top. Underneath is smaller lettering it says "an aphrodisiac infused ritual". Below that it says the scent and Bath Foam in several languages.

The right side of the label says it's a brand new kind of bubble bath and has directions in several languages followed by the ingredients. The bottom has the System JO information.

The left side of the label shows has the Paraben Free, Cruelty Free, Natural, and Petro and Deriv Free logos.

This product should be fine for travel as long as you close it tightly and enclose it in a bag just in case. I have had no problem with leakage but I do try and keep the bottle upright. This bottle is discreet and cute even but it does show the word "aphrodisiac" on the front.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Would make a nice gift
