Not So Peachy ?? Part Two
Shocked? Me too. The "cheapskate reviewer" has bought other body butters that were only $5 for about this size - so what's up? Simple.I can't find another fruity scented body butter that works as well or smells as well.
If I was out of this, I'd probably even buy it at FULL price and not on sale - maybe. I'd at least use an affiliate code though!

Use
As a body butter, this is designed to be used all over your body to moisturize it. I find it is especially helpful with my elbows and knees because they get especially dry. Due to the fragrance in this product, I would not recommend it for use on your face.
For those who are concerned about parabens, you will want to pass this up as it is not paraben-free.
According to the research that I did on body butters, Livestrong.com recommends that you test a small amount on a patch of skin to see if any redness or irritation occurs. This is especially important if you have allergies to seeds or nuts because many body butters are made from these things.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity
Body Butter is designed to be thicker than lotions which means that you do not have to use as much at one time. This makes the product last longer even if it is in what would seem to be a smaller container.
Once again, according to Livestrong.com Body Butter has a thicker consistency than lotions because it is made with less water and preservatives. Instead, it is made with natural ingredients.
In addition, because of its thickness, body butter can actually nourish the skin more than moisturizers due to the higher concentration of vitamins and fats. In the personal comments section, I will share more from my research into the various types of butters that go into body butters.

Taste / Aroma
I love the soft peach aroma of this product. It is a very soft smell but because I plan to layer this with a CHEAP peach scented body wash or scrub plus look for a cheap peach cologne, I think I will love this anyway. My husband licked it and liked it and I licked it and liked it too. I could almost eat it.

Performance
I loved how long this product kept my skin feeling soft. My elbows still felt smooth about 8 hours later, and it is currently very dry here in Texas. I could tell that I needed to reapply it soon, if only to refresh the scent, but since it takes so little to make my skin feel soft and smell nice, I certainly did not mind.
I can not find anything about this product that is not great - other than the price. I normally buy cheap $5 body butters at the local discount store and they work well but their aromas are stronger almond type scents. This is the first soft fruity fragrance I have found that lasted well on my body.

Packaging
The body butter is packaged in an 8 ounce jar. The instructions are minimal as they simply state "For external use only. Keep out of the reach of children."
You can see the color of the body butter through the jar since it is clear.
The jar is about the size of a small container of sour cream. (I will be editing this review later this week to add a picture).
The jar is too large for carry-on luggage if you are flying.

Personal comments
In my research I learned a great deal about body butters and this section is the "more than you need to know" area for those of us who always seem to want to know more. Please feel free to skip it!
Body butters are made from different nuts and seeds and the body butter you choose will have some specific properties based upon what it is made from. Some of the ingredients that are used are: shea nuts, cocoa seeds, mango seeds and Hawaiian kukui nuts. Shea Butter is known to protect the skin from the sun and has antioxidants as well as vitamins A & E. It may also have some anti-inflamatory properties. Cocoa butter has a large amount of antioxidants. Along with vitamins A & E, mango seeds have a high amount of beta-carotene. If you want a body butter that has not only vitamins A & E but also C and fatty acids then you want one made from the Hawaiian Kukui nut. Cocoa butter can also contain potassium, iron and calcium.
While this product is NOT paraben-free, it is possible to find body butters that are paraben free.

Experience
I want to explain my personal rating system to you here because you may be surprised to see that sometimes I love the smell and the product works well - but it only gets three stars. It has to do more than smell good - it has to be a good value.
First of all, if a product smells good (no chemical smell or bad after smell) and does what it should - I will automatically give it three stars.
If the product is priced reasonably well to the point that I'd give it as a gift at that price or be willing to ask for it from my husband as a gift - then I will give it four stars. If I wouldn't normally ask for it unless it was on sale or would buy it on sale but not at normal price - I'll give it four stars.
But for a product to be five stars - it better smell good, perform well AND be priced at something my budget can allow without me wanting to grimace every time I use it because of the cost.
I love bath and shower products and they are one of my major weaknesses. However, I have learned over the years of experimenting that expensive doesn't always equal better quality. Mind you - I'm not someone who is overly worried about parabens so I don't judge quality by whether something is paraben free - I judge it by how it makes me feel.
With the vast array of bath and body products that are on the market, there is a wide selection for me to choose from and still be happy without spending an arm and a leg.
So I try to do my reviews from the perspective of someone who is budget-mindful and may have kids and a house payment and is saving points for those one or two things she dreams about but can't quite afford.
I hope this helps you understand how I do my bath and body product reviews.
~~~~~~~~~~
For this product, until I can find a paraben-free body butter that has such a natural peach scent, I will continue to use this product. Mind you, I will probably use it with a cheaper body wash and fragrance if I can find one - but this creates a very pleasant mild peach base upon which I can layer other products.
Thank you for viewing Venus body butter – body moisturizer review page!
Great review. I'm glad to hear the peach scent is light, often peach scents can be very overwhelming or chemical smelling.
Excellent review! It sounds like I might well wind up trying this, especially as the world's a little dry in the winter, and this doesn't have the catchall "fragrances" in the ingredients
Also---I had always been under the impression that parabens were nothing to worry about, unless you happen to be allergic to them. Was there some other concern outside of allergies?
Antipova - I am not really sure about the concern about parabens. I want to say that some of them "can possibly" lead to cancer if I remember from another discussion or something. I can definitely do more research and get back to you on this later this week. I just felt it was important to note this since so many people have expressed concerns about parabens.
Great review! As always
Thank you very much for the awesome review! I'm not very into the artificial, 'peach candy' scent but this sounds awesome! I keep meaning to snag some of this brand's body butter! (For comparison, I swear! )
Amazing review!! Thanks again for the extra effort you put into your reviews.
Thanks so much for this wonderful review.
This sounds awesome. Thanks for the review!
Well, I'm sold! I definitely want to pick some of this up in the lavender scent to match my body scrub. I love that it's a light fragrance that will fade. I love to smell good inside my clothes, but I don't want people to smell me coming, if that makes sense. Thanks so much for the thorough review!
Hmm too bad it's got parabens.. I generally try to avoid them. Thanks for the review!
thanks for the review!
This stuff sounds amazing! Wish it didn't cost so much.
I want one now!
I've read bad things about some of the other scents in this line, good to know the peach is peachy. Great review, thank you.
As usual another great bath/body review I'm glad this one smells like peaches rather than crap lol. I still just may try out the Venus body butter, but maybe as a last resort or to say "hey I tried it at least" hehe. Thanks!
Thanks for the review!
So far I've tried Milk and I just recently got the lavender. Peach is next on my wishlist! I love how it makes my skin feel so soft. I really wish it didn't have parabens though. Thanks for the review.
