Not The Best Choice For Some, But Still Pretty Decent

While this shampoo is a bit pricey as compared to bargain buys, it's still a good purchase if you know you like the scent. It doesn't lather as nicely or as quickly as most other shampoos, but you really don't need more than other shampoos and it gets your hair squeaky clean and leaves it smelling like this for hours.

What is it, and why are you telling me about it?

This is the shampoo from Prinicpessa beauty, and I'm telling you about it because I want to give more detail than I could in reviewing just the smaller kit that I got this in. As a shampoo, your personal preference will dictate how much you like it. This is a shampoo that does work effectively as a shampoo, but doesn't lather as well as many other shampoos might.

Neat! So what does the bottle look like?

The bottle you'll get will be a full 12 fluid ounces of shampoo in a light pink bottle with a matte white label. It'll have a click cap, the front will have the name of the company and the line and that it's shampoo, and the back will have ingredients.

Ok, so what are the ingredients on this one?

It's important to note that the ingredients on the full size are currently different from that on the mini bottles, but that the mini bottle contains the new formula that Principessa is switching to. The new formula is a sulfate free version and has a color protector in it as well, according to a rep for the company. The ingredients listed below are for the new formula.

Water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, sodium c14-16 olefin sulfonate, cocamidopropyl betaine, lauryl glucoside, glycol stearate, helianthus annus (sunflower) seed oil*, linum usiitatissimum (linseed) seed extract*, punica granatum (pomegranate) extract*, olea europaea (olive) fruit extract*, laminaria digitata extract*, morinda citrifolia extract*, camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract*, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), persea gratissima (avocado) oil, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, gardenia tahitensis (tiare) flower, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e), polysilicone-18 cetyl phosphate, polyquaternium-7, glycerin, hydrolyzed wheat protein, hydrolyzed wheat starch, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed extract, hydrolyzed soy protein, panthenol (vitamin b5), silk amino acids, butylene glycol, parfum, peg-20 methyl glucose sesquistearate, tetrasodium edta, peg-150 distearate, citric acid, and sodium chloride.

The * denotes an organic ingredient.

How well does it come out of the bottle, and how well does it work?

It comes out pretty easily, but not easily enough that you end up with half the bottle in your hand. The shampoo itself is a pearlescent white color, and doesn't seem to spread easily through the hair. At least not as easily as most other shampoos might. I have found that I can use the same amount I normally use with my regular shampoo, but it takes a lot more work to get it to lather and spread out to my whole head, and it never lathers as much as my regular shampoo. This may be a big deal to some, but it wasn't to me. As far as cleaning my hair goes, I felt that it did a pretty good job. My hair always seems to feel cleaner after I use this, doesn't need to be washed for an extra day, and I seem to end up with less dandruff than I usually get between washings. My hair type is thin and fine and generally considered normal. It doesn't get really oily, but I normally wash it every other day or so.

Awesome, what does it smell like, and how long does the scent last?

Pretty much everything in this line is Pricipessa's Isolina scent. Isolina is described as a blend of fragrances that are fresh, floral, and feminine but also have a powdery finish, and it does live up to that. The top notes are listed as violet leaves and mimosa with neroli as the middle scent and precious woods and heliotrope as its base. To me, it smells powdery and floral, but more powdery overall. The scent lasts a reasonable amount of time, and I find that my hair smells lightly of it until bedtime usually when I shower in the afternoon.

Is there anything else I should know about it?

If you have very dry hair, this will likely make it feel more dry although can extend the length of time between washings by a day. On very oily hair it should leave you feeling cleaner than some other shampoos since it does a good job of getting most of the oils out without taking away the ones that should be there.

Something else that you may not know about shampoos in general, they're remarkably great at cleaning up any leftover hair products. Whether that be hair gel or hair spray on your hands, or on a comb or brush, or even if you got some on the mirror or counter. Not necessarily the greatest choice for a shampoo of this cost, but it's something to do with shampoos you end up not liking.

Got any pictures?

Here's a picture of the shampoo on my hand to show consistency.

Experience
I'm almost not entirely sure how I feel about this shampoo. It is a bit pricey, and it doesn't seem to lather as well as the shampoo I have been using. But it didn't strip any of my color any worse than my "safe for color" shampoo, I love the way it smells, and it really does seem to get my hair a bit cleaner feeling. I'll call those a wash and settle on 4 stars because the price is really the only bad thing about it.

Great review, Sam! I've always wondered if this shampoo (and the conditioner) is worth it. I know I could always get shampoo and conditioner for cheaper elsewhere but I can't pay for those with points! Lol.

Oh, I found the same ingredients list with * indicating organic ones while writing my Belleza Box review. Couldn't figure out why some obviously phytogenic components were listed as organic and some were not (like avocado oil or coconut oil). I started wondering about GMOs, got confused and erased all the indicators

    Great review!

Great review but this shampoo is somewhat on the pricy side and the work to achieve lather is perhaps too tedious for me.

Haha Nazaress, that's a huge bonus to me too, being able to pay for iffy purchases in points.

    Thanks everybody!

Great review! Thank you for sharing. I have long, thick, hair and it has to be washed daily or every other day. I wish this product was a little cheaper as I'd love to try something new.

There's always one of the kits like the Belleza Box. You can try out a few different things and see if they're worth getting the larger versions of.
