Oooh so soft and yummy smelling

The light scent is either a pro or a con depending upon your preference. Personally, I like the fact that this scent is light enough that I can use this product and still wear my various colognes with it. Then again, I use lighter fruity colognes and soft scents like Love's Baby Soft.

It does a great job of moisturizing too - but honestly, I recommend spending the money and getting both the sugar scrub and the bath creme. That's what I'm going to do - and I'm a cheapskate!

Use

This is designed for daily use as a bath or shower gel. It is my understanding that you would put this in your bath water to create a bubble bath but I assume you could also just put it on your sponge and wash yourself while you're in the bath if you have a different bubble bath you like. I am not sure though as I normally take showers.

This would work for anyone but seems to be especially designed for dry skin because it has moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and avocado oil.

SAFETY: No triclosans and paraben free

INGREDIENTS:
Water (Aqua), Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus) Seed Oil, Canola Oil, Sodium Lauroamphoacetat, Cocamide MEA, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Polyquaternium-7, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Althea Officinialis (Marshmallow) Extract, Milk Lipid, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid
    • Bath / shower

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This has an extremely rich and creamy texture that feels luxurious and even a bit decadent. It sticks to your skin in a positive way when you put it on and stays there until you lather it up. No more trying to put on a shower product and having it fall down into the shower while you're trying to get some on the other arm.

It spreads very well and as you will read in the performance section below, I found that it took very little of this to clean effectively.
    • Creamy
    • Smooth
    • Thick

Taste / Aroma

DO NOT TASTE THIS unless you have a bottle of water or a glass of milk nearby. I accidentally tasted it thinking it was something else and I drank almost a full bottle of water trying to get rid of the aftertaste.

With that said, the smell is a light, clean smell that is a bit fruity and cakey but not overpowering at all. If you choose to not use the whole Cake line of milk made products to layer the scent, you could still use this under any natural/fresh/fruity scents if you wear them on a daily basis. I don't believe it would clash with them.
    • Bad taste
    • Clean scent
    • Light smell

Performance

First of all, I did a 'scientific' study of this product by measuring out 1/2 tsp onto my wet arm and lathering up to see how much of my body it would cover. I was very pleased to see that it covered both of my arms and had enough later to cover my torso. If I had rinsed out the small portion that stuck to the measuring spoon, I would have been able to do my neck and possibly part of one leg also.

In other words, as my mother used to say about some products, "A little dab'll do you".

I found that the creme lathered up fairly well but not as much as shower gels do. The aroma surrounded me as I worked at the sink with this experiment (and when I used it in the shower it gave me the same "luxurious" experience of being surrounded by the clean fresh scent of what I was using).

After I toweled dry, I found that my skin was softer than if I had used a shower gel but it was not as soft as it would be if I used a shower scrub/sugar scrub. Since Cake makes a scrub in this fragrance, I would definitely want to add it to my bath products and use the two together, starting with the creme and then finishing with the scrub. Of course I also would top it off with the moisturizer as I got out of the shower and dried off.

Packaging

The cream is packaged in a 17 ounce (505 ml) bottle with a push cap that you can open with one hand. The front states that it is a frothing bath and shower cream in both English and French.

The back states:

"Nourish & gently cleanse your skin with this rich, creamy & vitamin packed body wash. This dreamy lather is packed with avocado oil & shea butter to moisturize and whole milk and marshmallow extract to comfort, soothe and protect skin. This is the ultimate in creamy bubbly goodness. (Hottie Milk Man not included). Sudes daily for the ultimate in soft, clean skin. Au lait!

For very best results (and super dreamy skin) follow with milk made body smoothing white sugar scrub and milk made hydrating moisture milk."
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

This is where I like to share what I've learned in my research online. One of my biggest questions was "what is the difference between a shower gel and a shower cream"? I really could not find a good answer and I think this is largely because these products are not regulated by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration).

However, I did read that shower gels are usually water based and therefore recommended for summer use and shower creams are richer and therefore recommended for winter use. I believe they are richer because they have products that are added in for their moisturizing effects.

As I examined the ingredients in this product, I noticed that shea butter is in it as well as avocado oil. I believe it is these two ingredients which help in moisturizing your skin and make this product a cream versus a gel.

I also wanted to find out why milk is often in bath products and I learned that pure milk has been used for centuries for the skin. It turns out that there is lactic acid in milk and that helps dissolve dead skin cells by working as a gentle exfoliant. The lactic acid is a natural form of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) which can strip your skin and cause irritation and redness. However, when the lactic acid comes from milk, it has a higher fat content which means it is ultra gentle and will smooth, moisturize AND exfoliate at the same time.

More than you ever wanted to know about shower and bath creams - right?

Personal comments

I want to explain my personal rating system to you here because you may be surprised to see that sometimes I love the smell and the product works well - but it only gets three stars. It has to do more than smell good - it has to be a good value.

First of all, if a product smells good (no chemical smell or bad after smell) and does what it should - I will automatically give it three stars.

If the product is priced reasonably well to the point that I'd give it as a gift at that price or be willing to ask for it from my husband as a gift - then I will give it four stars. If I wouldn't normally ask for it unless it was on sale or would buy it on sale but not at normal price - I'll give it four stars.

But for a product to be five stars - it better smell good, perform well AND be priced at something my budget can allow without me wanting to grimace every time I use it because of the cost.

I love bath and shower (and body) products and they are one of my major weaknesses. However, I have learned over the years of experimenting that expensive doesn't always equal better quality. Mind you - I'm not someone who is overly worried about parabens so I don't judge quality by whether something is paraben free - I judge it by how it makes me feel.

With the vast array of products that are on the market, there is a wide selection for me to choose from and still be happy without spending an arm and a leg.

So I try to do my reviews from the perspective of someone who is budget-mindful and may have kids and a house payment and is saving points for those one or two things she dreams about but can't quite afford.

I hope this helps you understand how I do my bath and body product reviews.

Experience

At the current price of $21.99, this figures to be $1.29 per ounce. When I compare that price to what I can buy at the local discount store or drug stores, it is going to seem high. However, when I consider how little of this I need to use to do an effective job of cleaning and moisturizing, that "cost" drops significantly. I've never had a product that was this rich and thick and would clean as well with such a small amount.

Since I love the smell because it is a clean scent and not at all overpowering and the product really does a good job of moisturizing even though I'd prefer to use it with a sugar scrub, I'm giving it five stars.

I think that even with daily use, if no other family member got their hands on it, it would easily last me all winter. If I was using it as a bubble bath of course, that would not be the same and I might need two or more bottles to last the winter.

But I highly recommend this and plan to keep it and the other products on the Cake line that match this fragrance on my wish list for when products go on sale. If worse comes to worse - I can also always find an affiliate code to use and get it for 15% off if there is not a good sale on it.
