Perfect for Solo or Couple's Play
While it wasn't as plush as it looks in the photo, the Liberator Throe does a great job in protecting my sheets during sexual play. I expect to have it for a long time because it is very durable. Well worth the money.Published: December 26, 2011
Pros:
Vibrant purple
Fits the width of a queen-sized bed

First Impression
I loved the purple color, right off the bat. I would describe it as a bright aubergine. The velvety texture adds to the richness of the fabric. I didn't like the backside as much because I'm not a lavender person. Black would have been my color of choice for that section, because I think it would have added more sex appeal. That's my subjective opinion, though. Another thing I didn't like was the insert inside the plastic box. The sexy woman snuggling with the throe left no doubt about what this product was for.
Using the Throe
The Liberator Throe fits the width of my queen sized bed, with a few inches to spare on either side. The shorter side covered a little over half of the length of my bed. I like how heavy this blanket is, but the crinkling noise was a bit strange at first, especially when I laid on top of it for the first time. I used it for solo play the first time around and enjoyed the velvety feel of the microfiber. It didn't bunch up or move around when I began to move. I also liked having the free space to put my other toys and my lube while I used my vibrator. After I finished my session, I looked at the throe and was amazed at how absorbent the fabric is. I saw a wet spot but no puddles.
My experiences with using the throe during sex has been a mixed bag. I didn't have any problems with sliding or bunching when my husband and I used it for sex the first time. The second time was a different story. It slid halfway off the bed when he pulled me to the edge of the mattress.
Cleaning the Throe
The cleaning directions on the tag are clear and easy to understand. I set my washer on the delicate cycle with the low setting and walked away. Thirty minutes later, I returned and pulled it out. I'm not sure why I was so surprised by the excess water on the throe but I was. I remedied that by throwing it in the dryer with two towels and set the dryer on air dry. When I pulled it out, I expected to find some stains but there were none. The Liberator Throe cleans up very well.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
I've had this throw for about three months and still like it, overall. The thing that bugs me the most, is how it slides and bunches when I make the slightest movement, especially when I use it with the satin side down. I liked the smooth feel of the satin, however, I liked the velvet side better because it feels more plush. I've stopped using it with my husband because it moves around too much and distracts us.
Another thing I noticed was that unless you wash it immediately after you use it, the oils and body fluids will leave a stain. Both sides of the throw are prone to this. So far, I haven't seen any signs of the stitching coming loose or fraying after many uses and washings. This throw is very well made.
Despite my frustrations, I still consider the throw to be a good accessory for solo play. However, I wouldn't recommend it for couples because of the sliding. An old, thick bedspread would be the better option for lovemaking.

If you don't have a throe...

If you're ever on vacation and don't pack your Liberator throe (aka throw), Dan Savage has great advice for what to do with the hotel linens when you're done: Bleach Party
(nerd) -
Wow, that's really good advice! I'm glad you posted that, because that is something I have wondered about myself! :)

I can only imagine what the cleaning staff thought. (scared)

Throes how do these work?
-
Okay I have read the review and information given but I'm still confused about these whats the big deal exactly?
-
An easy to transport waterproof blanket is always a nice thing. For some it's not a necessity and is overrated, but it can change the lives of others.
-
If you aren't a female ejaculator, it might not be such a big deal for you. But for those of us who occasionally (or regularly) soak through blankets, comforters, etc... this thing is a life saver, just as Sam said. I don't know that everyone would need it, but I think it's fantastic! :)

Sex Throws-Difference?
-
Ok, So I have seen three different throws on EF. One is the Fascinator, The Liberator and the Safari throw. What is the difference between them? Other than the patterns obviously. The differences between the purple ones (liberator and fascinator) is what Im really wondering. They look the same to me?

Do you think the price of the Fascinator throe is worth it?
-
I really love the red one but it's expensive... Just wondering if the size you get is worth the price?
-
We just got ours and I'd have to say yes. Alan & I have paid almost that much for "normal" comforters for our bed, and they've not been as warm as the Fascinator, nor water resistant.
-
For me it's not worth it yet... But that's because I don't really get messy with sex. Maybe when I have a place and can have sex anywhere, or when I live with my guy and we have more time to experiment...
I think for it's features it's definitely worth the price. And I've heard good things about the size I think, or at least never BAD things.

Can the Liberator throe withstand oils?
-
I want the throe, but mainly so we can play with oils (oiled sex anyone?) and not have to worry about staining the bed. But will it stain the throe? I want to keep it pretty!
-
I'd love to know, too!

I emailed Liberator customer service. We'll see what they say!

Thank you for viewing Fascinator posh throe – liberator shapes review page!

Great review, I would just ask for more details about the differences between the two sides. How satiny did the satin side feel, and did it absorb as well as the velvet? Did the throe stay in place better with the velvet side down? Etc.
Thanks for the critique. I'll do a follow-up review soon.
Thank you!
Good review! I can't wait for the black to get back in stock!!
