Promises So Much yet Offers So LittleThis just didn't deliver what I was expecting not at all. The only thing that shimmered was the water the mist left of my skin and that was gone within seconda of application. I know next time to just save my money and keep searching.
Has a number of uses.
Price is high for a spritzer, not much of a smell
The Dona shimmer body spray by System JO offers more than it delivers. While it may deliver of some of what it offers like being a mist, and it is refreshing for a short time, it failed in several other areas like: no scent unless you take the cap off, the only shimmer was the water on my skin, and reapplication often within minutes of each other. There are a lot (and I mean a lot)of ideas that this can be used for like a moisturizer after a shower, a light spritz for a night on the town or while clubbing (just a few uses). Because of the frequent reapplications, and having to use a lot to get even half of the desired effect, this will not last long. Not long at all, this will be the one product you’re surely going to burn through fast.
When sprayed it comes out in a mist and starts running down the area sprayed like water does, if it's sprayed to close to the skin. Ingredients include the following: Purified water, glycerin, sodium magnesium silicate, DMDM hydantoin, polyethylene terephthalate, nymphaea caerulea (blue lotus) fruit, may contain: FD&C yellow 5 AI. Lake (CI 19140:1), FD&C Blue 1 AI, Lake (CI 42090:2) D&C Red 6 BA. Lake (CI 15850:2), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron oxide black (CI 77499), Iron Oxide red (CI 77491) D&C red 30 lake (CI 73360) D&C Yellow 10 AI. Lake (CI 47005:1) D& C Red 36 (CI 12085) D&C Red 6 Ba. Lake (CI 15850:2), D&C Red 34 Ca Lake (CI 15880:1) Ultramarine blue (CI 77007) Ammonium Ferric Ferro Cyanide (CI 77510) or Manganese Violet (CI 77742). You may want to check the list against any known allergies.
I didn't taste this because it's not to be put in the mouth, but I did unscrew the cap for a sniff. Smelling it with the cap off it has the smell of a hospital, the soaps that they use. With it being rubbed in my skin, the only scent that I could smell was very, very faint and I had to do some serious sniffing with my nose to my arm to detect it.
Donna has a lid so you have to hold it with one hand and remove the lid with the other. Once the lid is off you can use the spritzer button and pump it up and down to get the product inside. I had to look very close to notice any of the shimmering effect. When I tried mine it was close to my arm and it pooled like when it rains. In another review I read that if it's like 18" away from the area then you get a nice mist without the pooling. So I tried it out and she's correct, I had a nice refreshing mist without having to rub the moisture into my arm, and no hint of the glitter (shame that's why it was bought).
Donna came to me in a plastic bag along with another product of this type. Dhe bottle is glass so you need to be careful not to drop it. Mine was ordered clear and I can see the glitter all in it, but very little comes out.
Follow-up commentary 2 months after original review
I have found no uses for this; it's like water with very fine flecks of glitter. I haven't found a way to make the glitter noticeable.
