Romantic and Yummy
These loose wax candles are very lightly scented and come in a beautiful 4 oz. glass jar with beautiful scrolling on them. They have a metal lid that keeps the candle free of dust and lint ensuring clean, nearly smokeless burning. They are 12 hour candles but they are tricky to get to burn evenly. They can make a bubble bath or a romantic evening something special.Published: November 14, 2010
Pros:
Long burning, light but distinct scents, beautiful glass jars with metal lid
Cons:
Very light scent, hard to get to burn evenly
After a discussion about products Sigel mentioned that he would like some candles that are just for mood lighting and smell nice. These little candles fit the bill exactly.
Unable to choose a scent to try we finally bought the whole set. We had four rooms we wanted to scent so it worked out perfectly. The 'candle' is in a beautiful little jar with a metal lid and is about 4 oz. The wax is in pellet form and melts easily but can be a mess as you try to dig out the wick before burning the first time. We have found that once you do get the wick situated it burns evenly mostly but does require some maintenance to continue to burn evenly and not form a well in the center. Simply using a blunt metal tool to push the softened wax down will work to flatten the surface and make even burning possible. Wait to blow out the candle until the entire top of the candle is liquified. It will burn for around 12 hours, relatively smoke free and with the metal lid it won't pick up dust or debris. The lid allows you to simply use the loose wax like potpourri, it will scent a small room very lightly, but the scent will intensify if the candle is lit. It won't overpower other scents or irritate sensitive noses.
The jars are not packed in a box only a plastic bag. The wax can be a mess when you first open the jar so opening over a trashcan or sink is a wise idea. Sometimes the wick is buried under the wax pellets so if you have to dig it out place the jar in a larger bowl to catch the pellets so you can carefully pour them back into the jar.
There are four scents in available at Eden Fantasys: Champagne Rain, Midnight, French Vanilla and Apple Cinnamon. All four candles are supposed to have pheromones along with the scent but I haven't been overly affected as far as I have noticed. Pheromones are tricky things though, some people are affected and some people aren't. The jar has the usual warnings on the back; burn within sight, keep out of reach of children, trim wick to 1/4 inch before relighting, only burn for no more than 3-4 hours and let the candle cool completely before relighting.
My favorite scent is the French Vanilla which has a warm, rich scent that is reminiscent of vanilla and cotton candy. The wax is a pretty pink making the scroll work on the bottom of the jar pop.
Sigel prefers the Apple Cinnamon scent which is reminiscent of a lovely apple pie with a very heavy note of cinnamon. It is a hot scent that doesn't over power the room but leaves a lingering aroma like you recently baked a pie in the house. When the French Vanilla and Apple Cinnamon are burned together they smell like pie and ice cream. The candle wax is a beautiful deep red color.
My oldest daughter chose the Midnight scent to use in their room upstairs. They don't burn candles upstairs because it's a fire hazard but she does use the wax as potpourri. The scent is the strongest of the bunch but is indescribable. It smells like soap, those little soaps your Grandmother loves to have in a pretty soap dish in her bathroom; you know the ones that you aren't allowed to use? Yup those. This candle also has a heavy hit of pheromones that I actually do react to and it is exciting but too heavy for my sinuses. The wax is a beautiful, light blue.
My youngest daughter chose the Champagne Rain scent to use on her side of the bedroom and like her sister only uses the candle as potpourri. The candle wax is a lovely deep purple color and the scent is floral with a heavy lavendar undertone. It is a clean smell and reminds me of good quality milled soap. It is the second heaviest scent and it also a bit too much for my sensitive nose.
Be sure to burn these candles in a draft free area as it will cause the candle to burn unevenly which will lessen the amount of burn time and cause wax to harden up the sides of the jar. This isn't a massage candle and though the wax won't get hot enough to cause a deep burn it won't provide a good surface for a massage and it will leave a wax film. The wax doesn't wash off easily and will stain sheets, so it's best to use these candles just to scent a small area or to provide a lovely atmosphere for a bubble bath or romantic evening.

Experience
In our house the front three rooms are my office, the baby's room and Sigel's office. When we burn the Vanilla and Apple Cinnamon candles in our respective offices it smells like warm apple pie and vanilla ice cream when people come to the front door.
You know how funky a teenager's room can get especially when there are two of them and they have a cat box in their bathroom and gerbil cage? Well with these two candles up there the whole upstairs (it's a loft type room) smells clean and soapy with a lovely undertone of flowers. There is a slight undertone that reminds me of rain showers in a garden.

Follow-up commentary
6 months after original review
I still like the candle and the aroma has still remained light but definitely present despite frequent lighting and long periods of being capped between uses. I can't have fragrances that are heavy in the house because almost all of us are allergic to them so I don't burn candles for long periods of time. I have found that most candles simply lose their scents after a few months of on again off again use. These candles are still as fragrant as they were when I bought them.
Even though they won't perfume a room larger than the average bathroom they will perfume a smaller area leaving you with just a hint of fragrance. For me this is a better option and I highly recommend the Romantic Candle for lovely mood lighting with just a touch of sweetness.

pheromone candle

What is this made of? It almost looks like sugar.
-
It's made out of regular wax except it's like wax crystals. It looks and feels like sand. I had that exact candle and it didn't smell at all even though it was really pretty.

vanilla is good.

Does anyone remember the cedarwood sage scent from Bath & Body Works? That was my favorite. They discontinued it, though. Oh well. Most of their stuff has parabens in it anyway.

Thank you for viewing Romantic candle – mist review page!

Want! I tried this pheromone lotion that my friend has the other night and it drove me crazy! Currently searching for something similar
Congrats on 8.0! I just got this the other day as well. I don't like the smell much, so I was actually glad it didn't dissipate a ton. I only burned it for 3 hours once and have not yet noticed that it didn't burn evenly, but hopefully it stays that way lol. Excellent review! At least it is a decent price right?
The price was what decided us The only scent that I noticed had a sort of pheromone effect on me was the Midnight, and I didn't particularly like that scent I LOVE the french Vanilla though.
The price on these really is pretty great! Excellent review!
I love candles and will be adding these to my wishlist shortly!
Good review, Airen. It sounds like your entire family is enjoying these candles, (My kids aren't allowed to burn candles or incense in their rooms, either, and I get pouts because of this. This would be a good way to fight that "puberty smell" that tweens and teens tend to infest their rooms with. Pretty huh? )
You and Sig (or you and Arch, when you see him) need to also try the JimmyJane Afterglow massage candles. Pricey, but OMG, what an experience.
Thank you for the idea to use these as potpourri. The girls may be getting these for Christmas.
You can remove the wick of the candle and let them have the wax chips as well!
We are going to order the sampler set for a shared Yule gift
Nice review, these seem like a pretty good investment!
Im hoping to get the vanilla in my next order!
