Romantic Indeed!

The Romantic Massage Kit by Lovers Choice Inc is a lovely, inexpensive kit that I would recommend just for the massager alone. The tea lights, massage cream, and pamphlet are just a bonus! I loved the scent of the cream, though it did irritate my sensitive skin when I rubbed it on the back of my hand. If you have sensitive skin, you may not want to use the cream, but the rest of the kit is well worth it.

extremely useful review
I decided to purchase the Romantic Massage Kit by Lovers Choice Inc when I had seen it because I absolutely love giving my partner massages. We have tons of oil and candles for massages but had not yet owned a manual massager like the one that comes with this kit. I had my eye on the Octo-pleaser for a while but the massager that comes with this kit looked easier to handle with oiled/lubricated hands. Also, for $2.00 more I’d get a little massage pamphlet, candles and a massage cream with this kit.

The kit is packaged in a cardboard box. The front of the box states the product name and the contents of the box. The backside of the box has the same information but in French. The bottom of the box states the ingredients in the massage cream (they are also listed on the bottle of the cream). Inside of the box there is 2 fl oz bottle of massage cream, a paper giving ideas on how to get more romantic, 2 tea lights and the plastic massager. The tea lights are individually wrapped in plastic, the massager is in its own plastic bag and the cream has a foil seal beneath the cap.

The massage cream is tropical scented. I didn’t expect to enjoy the scent of the cream as much as I do. I had assumed that for the low price of the kit, they probably skimped on the cream. That’s not the case though. The scent is not too strong or overpowering so those with sensitive noses should not have a problem with it. The scent is light, though it does seem to linger on the skin. I actually enjoy the scent so much that I’d use this cream as a moisturizer for my whole body…well actually; I would if the cream didn’t irritate my skin like it does.

The ingredients in the massage cream are as follows: Aqua(Water), Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Olive Oil (Olea Europea), Manuka Oil (Leptospermum Scoparium, Parfum (Fragrance), Benzyl Salicylate, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Hexyl Cinnamal, Alpha Isomethylionone, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Phenoxethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben, and Butylparaben. These ingredients are listed on the back of the bottle.

I’m not sure what is in the ingredients that made my skin irritated, but when I did a test of the cream on the back of my hand, the skin where the cream was applied was a bit red and blotchy. It went away after fifteen minutes but because of this, I’ll only be able to use the cream on my partner with the plastic massager. My skin is finicky so it probably won’t be an issue for those who do not have sensitive skin. I suggest doing a spot test on your skin before applying the cream to a larger area of your body, just to be on the safe side. If you do experience any reactions, the cream can be washed off the skin with soap and water.

The cream is in a twist-lid bottle. The lid twists off to dispense the cream. It would have been nice if it had a different cap, but this bottle is okay. The cream is a white colour but absorbs into the skin clear. The cream is light like pudding. After about 15 minutes of massaging my partners back, the cream seemed to have absorbed into his skin so reapplication was necessary. When the massage cream absorbs into the skin, it leaves the skin feeling moisturized. There is no oily/sticky/tacky/greasy residue left on the skin when it has fully absorbed. I wish my skin were less sensitive because I love the scent and want to be able to use it for myself!

The included tea lights are just your regular, white-coloured tea lights. These candles are not for massage. There is no scent to the candles, but you could use them if you have a scented oil burner for an aroma.

The plastic massager is pink in colour and looks like an odd letter “H”. The bars of the “H” are slightly curved upward. The middle of the “H” is the handle you use to run the massager along your own or your partner’s body. The handle is 3 ¾ inches long and just less than ½ inch thick. At the ends of the massager there are balls, which are the part of the massager that massages. The balls at the top of the massager have a 3 ½ inch circumference and the ones on the bottom have a circumference of 4 ½ inches.

The massager is really easy to use and is lightweight. Even with lubricated hands I was able to keep a firm grasp on the handle. When I give my partner massages with my hands, they tend to feel weak after a certain amount of time so it was nice that the massager did most of the work for me. My partner really enjoyed the massager and said, “Everyone should own one of these”. At first he wasn’t really use to the plastic balls running along his skin so he kept laughing. After a few minutes though he got used to it. The massager is really easy to clean up after it’s been used. I wiped it down with a toy wipe and dried it off. You could also use warm water and soap, or a toy spray.

The included pamphlet with ideas and tips wasn’t very useful for me, but it was still a nice addition. I was hoping that it would give some interesting massage techniques but the techniques they gave were a) run the massager up and down and b) run the massage over your partner’s body in small circles. It also gives tips on how to set the romantic mood such as sprinkle rose petals around, dim the lights, etc. I feel this is basic stuff, but it could be useful for someone.

Overall, I’m really happy with this kit. The pamphlet isn’t useful to me but it was a nice addition. The massager works really well. The scent of the cream is very nice and doesn’t leave any nasty residue. The only problem with the kit (for me) is that the cream irritated my skin. Luckily though, my partner doesn’t have sensitive skin so we can still use it without it going to waste.
