Use

The benefits of bathing in salted waters have been known for many years. Not only do they claim to improve circulation and help draw toxins from and soften the skin, but bath salts also ease muscle aches, pains and general soreness from exercise. Dona by System Jo capitalizes on this by offering six aphrodisiac infused bath salts so you too can add these sweetly scented crystals to a relaxing bath and enjoy their benefits.

Sodium Chloride, Magnesium Sulfate, Silica, Maltodextrin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta Glucan, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Oil, Laminaria Digitata (Algae) Extract, Nymphaea Caerulea (Blue Lotus) Flower, Fragrance

The Dona Bath Salts are smooth, irregularly shaped granules of salt in various small sizes. They pour easily from the container, or you can scoop them out to add to your bath. There's not much to say here other than they are large granules of salt.

Below, you can see a comparison photo of generic Epsom salts, the Dona Bath Salts in Mangosteen, and the Dona Bath Salts in Blue Lotus.

Taste / Aroma

Because all the Dona products are named for the aphrodisiac they are infused with and not their actual scent, it is a bit hard to exactly describe what each one smells like. Plus different people will usually pick up different scents from the products. Personally, I think the Mangosteen smells like a tropical fruit smoothie (Pineapple, Papaya, Mango, etc). The Blue Lotus, to me, smells like a light floral mixed with a "green" scent. Others have said that they smell Cucumber in the Blue Lotus, and I've definitely started to notice that as well.

Both the Mangosteen and Blue Lotus smell lovely. Taking the lid off the tub, you can easily notice the smell, but it is not overwhelming. Compared to other Dona products (like the Bath Milk, Body Lotion and Body Butter), I feel that the Bath Salts have a more subdued smell.

This is an external use only product, do not ingest. I did not taste this, neither should you.

Performance

The Bath Salts do not come with a spoon or scoop, so getting the product from container to tub might be a little messy depending on how you do it. To prevent myself from adding more salts to the water than I wanted, I tried pouring some into the lid instead of directly into the tub from the container. This was effective, but I ended up with just as much salt on my bathroom counter as I did in the lid. Scooping out a handful is also effective, but of course I ended up dropping some on the floor. Anyway, add the salts to running water any way you wish.

Once in the water, the salts had completely melted by the time the tub contained several inches of water. They do not color the water or produce bubbles. They lightly scented the water and air in my bathroom. After soaking and emptying the tub, no residue was left in the tub or on my skin. My skin wasn't overly fragranced nor softened, but using other Dona products of the same scent with intensify the fragrance and multiple uses of the product will continue to soften the skin over time.

I personally did not use a large amount of the salts per bath. How many uses per container will depend on how much product you use per bath (more of the product results in fewer baths, less results in more baths).

Packaging

Dona Bath Salts come in a plastic tub with a black screw off lid. Each tub contains 9 ounces of product. The label is a dark, purpley pink with black lace print over top. The front states the name of the product, scent and small symbols describing benefits of the Dona line (natural, paraban free, perto. deriv. and cruelty free). The back lists brief instructions and ingredients. Other than stating that this is part of "an aphrodisiac infused ritual", the packaging is very discreet and lovely. The tub can be left out in the open without worries of offending anyone and would be a nice addition to a gift basket.

Experience

I love anything and everything related to bath products. While I do prefer bubbles over salts, I had to try the Dona Bath Salts. Adding them to hot water definitely made for a nice, muscle relaxing bath. As I've said above, they don't color the water and don't leave any residue in the tub or on skin. While the skin softening effects were very minimal at first, continued use of the product left me with softer and softer skin.

Overall, this is a nice product and there's not much else I can say about it. They're nicely scented bath salts, simple as that. While they are a little pricey for salts and I wish the container was bigger, I enjoy using the product and have nothing really to complain about. I would definitely recommend this to other bath product lovers.
Follow-up commentary
I still really enjoy using these bath salts. They smell good and the salt relaxes my muscle aches. I just wish these colored the water like some other bath salts available on Eden.
