Scent of a Massage
The Sensual Massage Oil from Intimate Organics is exactly what is expected of a good massage oil: it is slick without being greasy and dries without getting sticky. The Cocoa Bean & Goji Berry scent is a mood enhancer, and is not too strong. In addition to those great properties, it is Certified Organic by the USDA and vegan-friendly.Published: April 9, 2009
Pros:
Organic; Vegan; Scent that isn't overpowering; Not sticky or greasy.
Cons:
Cannot be used internally.
Intimate Organics Sensual Aromatherapy Massage Oil is made of organic, vegan ingredients. In fact, it is USDA certified as organic. It is paraben and DEA free.
The Oil comes in a plastic bottle with a pop-top cap. It must be stored upright or it will leak. The cap allows the Oil to be dispensed in drops, rather than pouring from the bottle. It is definitely an oil: thicker than water, but thinner than a balm. The consistency is exactly what I expect from a massage oil.
The “Sensual” scent is Cocoa Bean & Goji (Go-gee) berry. It smells somewhat like a raspberry chocolate bar, with sweet musk undertones. The scent lingers for about 30 minutes beyond initial application. It isn't a strong scent, more of a suggestion. I usually get a headache from sweet/ fruity scented products, but this scent is light enough and fades quickly enough that I had no troubles with it.
The Oil stays warm through a massage. Both the person giving the massage and the person receiving the massage can feel the Oil retaining the heat from massage movements.
I found that 5 nickel sized amounts were sufficient for a full neck, shoulder and back massage. A massage of both feet and lower legs took 2 nickel-sized amounts. The 4 oz bottle I received should last quite a while.
In application, the Oil glides on smoothly and does not get sticky. It leaves the skin feeling soft and supple after a massage. Neither I, nor my partner, felt the need to shower or wipe off after being massaged with this Oil. My skin felt nicely moisturized, not greasy or sticky. In fact, while writing this review, I dropped 2 drops of the Oil on my hands, rubbed it in very well, and immediately went back to typing without leaving a residue on my keyboard.
This Oil is not meant to be edible, and accordingly, has no appealing taste and leaves an oily film on the tongue of the taster.
This product is not condom compatible (no oils are). I sent an email to Intimate Organics inquiring as to whether this product is safe to use as a personal lubricate was told “...it is not meant for internal (use).”

Experience
I gave my partner a neck, shoulders, and back massage with this Oil. After dropping a nickel-size amount in the palm of my hand, I rubbed my hands together to warm the oil. I was surprised at how easily my hands glided over his skin, while not feeling greasy. The Cocoa Bean and Gogi Berry scent filled the room, but was a mood enhancer, rather than a distraction. When I saw the package, I didn't think the scent would arouse me, but it did.
My partner gave me a foot and lower leg massage. The Oil felt very smooth as he rubbed my feet and legs. I normally use baby oil as a moisturizer and it always takes a good 15 minutes to dry. The Sensual Massage Oil dried within a couple of minutes of the end of the massage.
To be clear, this Oil lingers on the skin long enough for a massage, but no longer. While performing a massage, the oil stays pliable and slick, but once you stop massaging it dries quickly to a smooth finish.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
Although this oil is a really great texture, the scent I received (Goji Berry & Cocoa) is just too strong for me to continue to use this as a massage oil. I've had an opportunity to try some of the other Intimate Organics products and I find I like the other scents they offer better.
So if you really like chocolate smells you would probably love this, otherwise, maybe not so much.

JosephIs this oil safe for vaginal stimulation? -
Of course, every vagina (and the person attached) has its own allergies and such, but I don't see anything in the ingredients that would cause any sort of allergy in many women. In fact, Intimate Organics actually makes their products to contain body-safe materials, so you should be safe.
However, however, while it's safe for vaginal stimulation, it *IS* still oil, so I highly, highly recommend against using it on or near the vagina. For one, oil will break down a condom. For two, this is actually intended for massage use, so it isn't intended to be used for vaginal use; it's made to use on non-genital parts of the body.
Intimate Organics actually makes a water-based lubricant that would be much, much better for vaginal stimulation: link -
must try.

Thank you for viewing Intimate Organics massage oil review page!

The smooth finish sounds nice - does it rub off on your hands or clothes once it dries?
Good review!
It's safer than most bath oils on the market (like, omg, that Vaseline bath bead stuff? that has you soaking in blue mineral oil? Ew.) so I'm thinking folks don't need to worry about getting some inside them, even if that's not it's intended use.
The scene sounds heavenly! Really good review
Thank you both.
Sammi,
It doesn't rub off after it dries. It just dries up and leaves a very small amount of scent on the skin. Even that scent didn't wind up in the bedsheets much though.
Carrie Ann,
Yeah, I don't think it would hurt anyone if a little got inside them.
I so totally meant scent. Sounds heavenly. Scent.
I hate typos.
That's good to know - thanks!
Scene sounds god as well
I love massaging my guys and this sounds like another addition to my box! Does it wash away easily or does it really not seem to require it? This is definately on my wish list!
Good lord I've got the typo monster as well...*Good the scene sounded GOOD!
This review just beggs for typoes
Airen,
I haven't found a need to wash this oil off. It just disappears.
Now that I've followed up with the review, I want to clarify why I still rate this product with 5 stars.
It is really the very best massage oil I've ever experienced. It's just that the scent that I got isn't for me. I think I would be in heaven if I had the lemongrass or citrus scents instead.
Thanks for the review
thank you
