Well, I am pretty certain that the original use of this--er, machine? Massager?--was for body massages. It was for neck, shoulders, backs, and all that jazz, until one day someone got curious and went into the end zone with it and never came back!

When I started this review, I was a bit conflicted. When I first got the Magic Wand, I explored the box. I read through all of the text that is displayed, and looked at all of the pictures, and I was pleased with how tasteful and discreet the packaging was, and somewhat shocked that it gave no real evidence of being an "adult aid" or sex toy. After reading through some other reviews and informational websites, I became very inclined to read through the owner's manual.

It turns out that this infamous power-house was never meant to be a sex toy.

The magic wand came on the scene somewhere in the 1970s, and is manufactured by the well known Japanese company, Hitachi. Despite being sort of misused, if you will, the Magic Wand gained its popularity through the pornography industry. Hitachi clearly meant for this massager to be exactly that: a massager.

So, setting that little bit of information aside, the Magic Wand clearly has more than one use.

As a massager, the Magic Wand works wonders on all those sore and tight muscles. The deep vibrations are wonderful for soothing and relaxing sore nerves and muscles. It is said that it also helps increase blood flow which helps restore and regenerate injured or stressed areas of the body.

As a sex toy, be prepared to have your world rocked. The only major complaint among many women is the Magic Wand isn't insertable. Luckily, many attachments are made to satisfy this craving.

So, I guess whether you want to rub a kink out of your stressed and tense neck or rub a kink out of something else (*wink wink*), you have it made.

The 2.5 inch head of the massager is made of a smooth rubberized food grade material. The body is 12 inches of a smooth hard plastic. It has a material safety of 8 on the Eden safety scale.

It's big and bulky, and it packs a punch to whatever body part you need it for.

Traveling with it is pretty tricky. Not so much for the discreet aspect, but more like how you store it. You have to be careful with the head, it is easily breakable and it gives you ample warning on the packaging and in the instruction booklet.

If you are worried about someone seeing it; fear not. A majority of people are going to see it for what it truly is, a massager. Others, well... they will know what you do in your spare time. My point is, the toy is easily explainable if someone comes across it that isn't supposed to. If that doesn't work, just show them the packaging. It gives no hint that you intend to use it for "dirty time".

Two speeds. I refer to them as, "Oh dear God," and "Oh dear God, I hope I don't bite my tongue off."

This monster is controlled by a little flip switch that is either "low" (yeah, right) or "high".

In more technical terms, the two speeds are 5,000 RPM and 6,000 RPM.

The body of the massager is nowhere near waterproof and cannot be fully submerged into water. The head of the massager can be cleaned by using an antibacterial soap and water or by using a antibacterial wet wipe. The instruction manual strictly prohibits using the massager anywhere moist or wet areas on the body, even though this is its basic purpose. I am assuming that cleaning the head with water is perfectly safe, even though the manual says differently.

The instruction manual also says to not use the wand any longer than 25 minutes at a time. I am not quite sure who in the world would need or want to use it for that long. If I even dared to use it for 25 minutes, I'd be scraping myself off the ceiling.

The packaging is discreet and it displays the massager for what it really is: a massager. It comes with an instruction guide that tells you how to use it and maintain it. It also comes with warranty information and registration just in case something happens to it.

As for storage, I am not thrilled on keeping it in the box it came in just because it is big. It takes up a lot of space in my "toy box". I prefer not to keep it in the original packaging even though others may not have a problem doing so.
