Shimmery Massages

This isn't the first oil I'd grab, or even suggest, as an every day use item. However for special occasions when you just want to shimmer a bit, I do recommend it highly.

Use

Massage oils have quite a few uses, the best obviously being to give a massage. Another great option is to use the oil as a moisturizer in the place of lotion.

This particular massage oil isn't for everyday use. Well, it could be, but with the price, I'd have a hard time justifying it. However as something that you could spoil a lover with by adding some shimmery sexyness to an already very nice massage? Absolutely. It's also a great choice for moisturizing your arms or chest if you want to add a little bit of shimmer before you go out for the night.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is definitely one of the more runny oils. Maybe even runnier than water. Ok, not quite, but almost. If you're not careful when pumping into your hand, you'll end up dripping everywhere.

It has a nice consistency to it too. It doesn't feel really greasy or oily, although if used as a moisturizer it will leave a residue that will take a while to stop feeling a little greasy. Depending on how long you're rubbing your desired area, you might be left with the same feeling there.

When you pump the oil out, you'll notice a light shimmery sheen to it. That's the gold. It's not big flakes, but think more like that really irritating glitter that gets into everything and never, ever leaves. Only this isn't anywhere near as irritating. It doesn't rub off all over things, and is only barely noticeable, lending itself nicely to subtle hints.

Taste / Aroma

The Flickering Touch Oil comes in 3 different scents: Fresh Lily & White Musk, Balsam Fir & Bergamot, and Spicy Clove & Amber. I've got the Fresh Lily & White Musk and the scent is a pleasant cross between something floral and something musky. It's hard to describe, but the scent is more on the floral side, with the musk bringing it back down a notch and keeping it from being unbearably floral.

The scent lingers on the skin nicely, lasting most of the day if you don't wash it off, however it's only going to be noticed if you're standing very close to someone.

Performance

I've found that the best way to get the massage oil to come out with the gold flakes in it is to pick the bottle up with the nozzle facing down and squeeze it into my hand that way. Pouring the oil out this way also keeps you from losing some when it gets stuck between your finger and the pump.

It performed very nicely. 2 full pumps covered my husbands whole back. He has pretty large pores, so sometimes things that are supposed to help ease friction get sucked up real quickly and end up not working so well. I found that to be not the case here. It lasted a good 15-20 minutes before my hands couldn't handle the texture anymore (that's just a me thing) and I switched to a stone. It helps any kind of smooth, non-porous massage aid to glide along like nobody's business.

It soaks into the skin very nicely. If you let it sit for a while, you can still get some good massaging back out of it, but if you don't touch it, it doesn't just sit on the skin begging to be taken care of. We got at least a 15 minute massage on my back with 2 pumps as well (I like the extra slickness), and I've used it a few times as an all over moisturizer as well without being left feeling icky.

Packaging

As with everything else Lelo does, the packaging is gorgeous. This particular packaging matches the massage candle that Lelo also carries with its sleek black box with only one small picture of the bottle on the side and how to use instruction on the back in 5 languages. It's more than adequate to give as a gift on its own. Towards the bottom of the backside of the box is the list of ingredients: prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, vitis vinifera (grapeseed) oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, perfume (benzyl salicylate, linalool, d-limonene), gold powder (mica, titanium oxide, iron oxide, gold).

The bottle itself is also pretty discreet. Unless someone happened to know that Lelo also makes sex toys, they'd never guess when they saw it printed in 1/4 tall letters on the front of the opaque black bottle. You can also turn the whole thing around so that virtually nothing is visible, since the nozzle and the plastic cap of a ring both swivel nicely. The ring that also acts as cap matches your 'scent,' with purple being used for the white lily and musk scent. It comes all the way off if you don't want it in the way at all, but will also stay in place if you just want to lift it up enough for a finger to slide in.

Experience

I wasn't necessarily blown away with this oil, but I was definitely impressed. The first time I used it at all was as a moisturizer after I got out of the shower. I was left feeling silky smooth, not greasy, and smelling slightly of whatever exactly this scent is. I loved the fact that in the right light, you could see my skin shimmer an extra little bit.

Because of how well it soaked into my skin as a moisturizer, I was a little skeptical of how well it would work for a massage. It surprised me there too. My husband usually has problems with oils getting soaked into his back really quickly, and this one didn't. It works amazingly with massage stones like the Contour M and won't leave most men feeling overly "girly" with the added shimmer.

I'm still trying to decide how much I like the scent. When we first got this, I didn't like it, at all really. But it's definitely grown on me, and I really want to try the other scents as well. I think the only thing I don't really like about it at this point is the fact that the bottle, the ring cap, and anything else on here always needs constant cleaning due to oily fingerprints that show up if you use any oil, then pick the bottle back up.

Overall, not my first choice for an oil just because of the price, but still a worthwhile one to have on hand.

I've actually been using it every day as a moisturizer (I get dry skin in winter)and it has no bad effects on my skin. It cleans off easy and doesn't leave you feeling greasy afterwards so I don't think it will leave much residue to block your pores.
    • I've got all three of them and yes!!! I've got weirdly oily skin in some places and very dry skin in others.

Lelo oil is the only moisturiser I've been able to use daily after my shower that doesn't make my skin drip with oil, doesn't feel like it coats my skin, and makes my skin feel sooooooo good!!! The scent is not strong and works with my perfume not masking it or changing the scent.

This being said, I feel that the spicy clove and amber one is the strongest scent out of all three (but not in a bad way if that makes sense) and not something I'd recommend for the summer.

I've used all of the Burt's Bee's line, Ocean Potion Original and the Hemp Seed lotion, countless after sun's, and countless other products designed for oily and combination skin from name brands to dollar store types and everything in between. Last year I switched to using just olive oil as a moisturiser in the winter and had some good results, but I couldn't stand how it smelt.

Then I tried the Lelo oil... and WOW!!! My skin has been so thankful!!! I have found that on the underside of my breasts, I have to be careful to not apply too much and to rub in a little bit extra, or make sure I let my skin dry completely before putting on clothes.

And on that note, I am off to write a review for Lelo oils.

I haven't tried the candle yet, but I imagine so, I really love this oil apart from the mild scent.
    • It certainly looks luxurious

    • I'm usually not one for massage oil. I have weird issues about things like that. But holy cow that is one amazing container and I'm tempted to buy it because of that!

Great job LELO, as expected; you guys are amazing at designing packaging!

Anyone else added this to their wishlist yet?
