Smooth, Sensual After Shave Oil

This after shaving spray oil seems to deliver what it promises. This smooth and peppery scented spray mist oil is to be used on the body after shaving to prevent razor burn, bumps, or other irritations. It adds a light scent, which fades quickly. It softens the skin, and keeps it feeling soft for hours, soothes irritation, and makes for a sensual after bath and after shave experience.

Use

This smooth and peppery scented spray mist oil is to be used on the body after shaving to prevent razor burn, bumps, or other irritations.

The product is to be sprayed on the shaved areas, then gently rubbed into the skin. This adds a nice sensual touch, and a pleasant aroma to the bathing and shaving ritual.

It is suggested that this product be used after shaving genital areas, although mucous membranes (the parts of the body which produce mucous and which are most sensitive, such as the vagina, the inner vaginal lips, the penis, the anus etc) should be avoided due to some of the ingredients.

Also, one would want to avoid the penis and vagina with this spray because it contains mineral oil, which can break down and cause breakage in latex condoms.

Silicone toys were used an hour or so after using this product several times, and as the product was not used directly on the vagina nor the rest of the inner vulva, there were no interactions between the silicone toys and the product.

Some of the ingredients in this spray may be allergenic to some, the Chamomile (which is related to Ragweed) the Aloe and the citrus oils being among the most allergenic to more sensitive users. This reviewer is allergic to Ragweed and I had absolutely no unpleasant reaction to the product whatsoever.

The user should discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact a medical professional if the issue does not resolve.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The product comes out of the spray bottle in a light, slightly oily spray. It is then to be smoothed into the recently shaved areas of the body. When sprayed on the fingers, the product is slightly oily, but not to an excessive degree.

It stays nicely where it is placed and is absorbed quickly. There is no greasy, sticky or oily feel on the body after use. It feels silky and smooth and smooths onto the body nicely and a little tends to go a long way.

The product has a slight yellow color to it. The thickness is similar to some thinner silicone lubricants.

    • Velvety

Taste / Aroma

The spray has a light clove/cinnamon like aroma, which reminded me of a kind of massage oil we use, from an other company. (Hathor Exotic Love Oil) The aroma dispersed quickly after use.

Due to some of the ingredients, I did not taste this product. I don't advise tasting this product.

It should also not be used on the "lickable" areas of the genitals, in addition to the other reasons, because this is not an edible product.
    • Light smell

Performance

The instructions say to spray on the part of the body which was just shaved while the skin is still damp, avoiding mucous membranes.

This reviewer used the product on the calves, shins and thighs, on the inner leg, the underarms and on the Pubis Mons; the external, frontal part of the female genitalia, the skin and tissue which covers the pubic bone. It was not used on mucous membranes, such as the Labia Majora, (the outer vaginal lips) the Labia Minora (the inner vaginal lips) or the anal region.

Immediately upon spraying, a light tingling and cooling effect was felt. Any slight irritation from shaving seemed to disperse and my skin became calm. It was smooth and luxurious and washed off easily with soap and water.

I felt my skin was very soft and smooth and found myself rubbing my calf against my other skin to feel the softness, as well as enjoying the smoothness on the pubic mons and other parts of the body where the spray was used. It felt as if my shave was closer than usual, as the skin was left very soft and felt completely hairless with the application and smoothing properties of this product.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Long lasting

Packaging

It comes in a small plastic bottle with a spray top containing 1.7 oz or 50 ml. of the product. There is a small plastic cap over the spray mechanism. The product arrived in a small plastic bag.

The bottle is made of PETE plastic, which is recyclable in many areas.

The bottle does contain instructions for use, although the print is very small.
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense

Special Features

This product is paraben free, glycerine free, dye free and perfume free. The aromas come from the different herbal enhancements used in the formulation of the product.

Although not specifically mentioned on the bottle, I see no reason this product could not be used on the face, if shaving takes place there. The caution to avoid mucous membranes being kept in place, of course. One could spray a spritz onto the fingers and glide it onto the parts of the face which may have been irritated by shaving.

Among the products active ingredients are:

Isopropyl Myristate is and ester made from isopropanol and myristic acid. It is used in cosmetic and personal care items where absorption through the skin is desired. It does have the possibility of causing acne in those prone to it as it is a comedogenic oil.

Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone are silicone based oils, used in conditioning, lubricants, hair products and other uses.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil is from an the fruit of an African tree and also known as “Argan Oil.” It is used as animal feed and is increasingly being used in cosmetics and as a skin conditioner in Europe and the United States.

Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Oil has been used in home, skin, hair and body care since ancient times. It is used as antiseptic, antibiotic, disinfectant, bactericidal uses and for cosmetics.

Salicylic Acid is made from willow and similar to aspirin. It is used in herbal medicine and cosmetics. It has uses for skin care as it, bacteriocide (it kills germs) and comedolytic (reduces symptoms of acne) agent “ by causing skin cells to turn over more quickly and preventing the growth of bacteria in those skin cells and on the surface of the skin.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract The uses of Aloe in skin care are centuries old. It is used to soften, to reduce irritation from burns and minor cuts. It does, however have an increasing allergenic effect on many people.

The other ingredients (see left of Product Page) of the product are used as skin conditioners and to buffer and help the product disperse more easily.

Experience

The softness and lack of irritation remained for many hours after use.

It had no effect on the growth of hair, but after using it several times, I have found it soothing and I have even used it between shaves when bumps or irritation occur on shaved areas.
Follow-up commentary
This aftershave oil is being used frequently. I nearly forgot I had it and was using Body Butter after I shaved; and then a bout with "Winter Dryness" that had me itching like crazy on my legs prompted me to start using After Shave Oil again. The dryness and the itch went away on the first use and I started to wonder why I had nearly forgotten about it. (A boat load of bath and beauty products is most likely the cause.)

I still love this after shave oil and will be using more frequently, after rediscovering how well it works and how soft it makes my body.

The light scent doesn't mess with your other lotions or perfumes and works as well as it claims to.

A win!
