Contour M + Afterglow sensory set - kit by Jimmyjane - review by CaptainBunnyKilla

I am currently single, but was I about to let that stop me from enjoying the benefits of a good massage candle and massage stone? Hell no. While it's nice to have someone else give you a massage, you can definitely give yourself one, too!

The Stone: The ceramic Contour M is heftier than I expected. It has a glossy white finish with "JimmyJane" written in grey along one of the corners. There are four small patches on the underside of the stone that have not been glazed (the contact points during firing, no doubt). The long and short of it is: this stone feels amazing. the convex side provides one big pressure point, while the concave side gives more diffuse, less pinpointed pressure to your muscles. The set doesn't come with the applicator brush the Afterglow candle normally comes with, so the best method of application for the melted wax is to pour the wax into the concave side of the stone. From there you can pour the wax onto skin. With the wax, the stone glides over the skin with practically no drag. I really can't say enough good things about the Contour M.

The Candle: This set comes with the Pink Lotus Afterglow candle. I was a little annoyed that I couldn't choose the scent without buying the stone and the candle separately (given the choice, I definitely would not have chosen Pink Lotus). I am allergic to a lot of perfumes and I find florals to be especially irritating. Fortunately, the Pink Lotus is a fairly light floral scent and I didn't find it to be particularly problematic (I'm not quite as sensitive to fragrance as they come, but I'm close, so perfume-sensitive people can take this into account). You're supposed to let the candle burn for a good 30 minutes to let enough of the wax melt to perform a good massage. It's a little difficult to pour the wax from the corner of the candle into the stone without dripping--in this case, the bwarm candle might have the better design--but it's doable. The wax of the Afterglow is about the same in consistency as that of the bwarm (both are extremely soft), but the Afterglow's case is certainly classier (the Afterglow is housed in glass, while the bwarm's case is flexible plastic). The glass is definitely a better choice since the wax, even when cold, is really malleable: it's much harder to accidentally deform the Afterglow than the bwarm. When the Afterglow's wax dries, it's not sticky, but you can definitely still tell it's there.

All in all, solid product, I just wish I could have chosen the scent of the candle in the set.

You can definitely enjoy this product by yourself! While there are obviously spots that are going to be hard to massage on yourself, it's definitely still worth it. I used the wax from the candle with the stone on my shoulders, arms, and quads while all were sore from lifting weights. The stone felt really, really nice working out those sore spots, and the plus side of using the stone on yourself is that you can control the exact amount of pressure you need for a perfect massage.
