Fuctional yet decorative with a subltle yet ejoyable aroma, with a warm massage to boot

For those who want ambiance and some hot massage lotion this is a very good item and it's presented well. Competitively priced to other massage candles, I find its definitely worth purchasing. It would also make for a friendly or romantic gift.

Pros:
Nice packaging, subtle yet pleasant aroma, not scolding coming out of decanter and burns well.
Cons:
The aroma could be closer to chocolate.

Use

The Don't Stop Massage Candle should be used externally for massage purposes, it also serves as a traditional scented candle for aromatherapy. It's a soy wax that has a very low melting point. Its wick is thick and provides an excellent heat source to provide a full puddle that extends to the edge of the candle. This massage candle is made of a blend of Shea butter, vitamins A & E, jojoba, olive and coconut oils. Soy wax has been known to burn cleanly, lessening indoor air pollution and leaving less soot.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Its texture coming out of the decanter is very viscous, it quickly firms up as it cools but does not clump. Rather it forms a paste of sorts, that is very workable. It is slightly tacky as it dries, more wax should be applied for extended massage sessions.

Taste / Aroma

The spicy chocolate cinnamon was very subtle for those with sensitivities to strong or overwhelming smells. I found it very pleasant.

Performance

Research shows this candle should burn 46 hours, in my limited use (2 hrs of burning) it seems to be accurate. Burn times of course will be greatly affected by how much wax is poured for massage purposes. You should also keep in mind the manufacturer calls for the wick to be trimmed to 1/4", as such you may want to re trim the wick for later uses. I found the wax when poured (I did not extinguish the candle as suggested), to be warm, not scalding, as stated earlier; it was very workable hot, less so as it cooled. Clean up was simple, with soap and water; however, it is wax so expect that residue to linger. I believe this to be the case with most massage products, specifically wax products.

Packaging

It arrived in a very sensuous package, the ceramic decanter has a functional lip for pouring, a lid and a black ribbon adorns it(my ribbon was broken on arrival). Overall it's very decorative, and you could leave it out on display.

Personal comments

For the record, I work in the health field and employ massage therapist. We use massage creams, so I do have experience with these types of products. It would be an unfair comparison to subject this product to those.

Experience

We used it for massage to the back, I will report back, as we will use it for hot wax play as well.
Follow-up commentary
It's come to my attention that the original price is lower than initially reported on the MSRP. At $36, this product is wonderful. It's flavor also needs correcting, it indeed does not come in other flavors other that Chocolate cinnamon. With that in mind, the aroma was closer to vanilla when burned, but chocolate cinnamon when its out of the package. If your in to candles, and your into massage, then you will enjoy this product.

Actually, I suspect that $108 as a price is an error, since it's selling for about $35 elsewhere. I'll bring it to the attention of our team so it can be corrected. Smile

F.Y.I. - I confirmed with our team that the $108 MSRP is indeed an error. The MSRP on the manufacturer's website is $36, much more reasonable. Smile

It's so pretty! I'm not a chocolate fan and I'd thought that was all it came in, but vanilla sounds wonderful!

This looks interesting especially with the lower MSRP. I admit to being a little scared of using the hot wax but I love massage so it is something I would like to try. Thank you for the review!

I got this candle to review for another company and so far have not found it to be chocolate or cinnamon smelling in any way, which was very disappointing. Sad face If you are at all sensitive to fragrance, however, this is absolutely the candle for you. I found it to have very little smell at all.

This is a decent review. I would suggest, next time, adding the additional info1 day after the original review directly into the original review.

The follow up field is meant as a way to follow up with additional information awhile after you've had a product. The system reminds you after 2 months, which is a decent time frame to follow up.

One day is not.

I like the fact that you point out that while this can be used to facilitate a lovely massage it isn't a massage cream or oil, both of which have very different properties! I love wax play and soy based candles are much safer than paraffin or even beeswax because the melting point is lower. If you don't have access to a hot bath or shower after a hot wax massage a very warm towel wrung almost dry will soak up the wax residue nicely!

Chocolate cinnamon sounds delicious even if it's just a hint, and Arch loves vanilla. Another wishlist item! Thanks for the review!

  • Massage Candles-Yes?No?Worth the price?
    • Im not really one for the whole "hot wax" foreplay, but I really love the massage benefits because of my muscle/joint pains and fibromyalgia issues. $35 seems like a lot to spend on this candle, but I LOVE the look and it seems to be a decent size. What do you think? Are there better ones out there? Which is your favorite? What would you suggest?
    • While I don't have that specific candle, we have tried others and we really enjoy using them. My partner absolutely loves the heat of the oil. I know he would say it's worth it. I personally think $35 is a bit much, but since my partner loves it so much, I let him buy it lol!

There are other candles that are decent for lower prices if you wanted to try one out. Try searching the Tantric Candle. We tried that one and it was pretty fantastic.
    • The JimmyJane candles are about the best as far as what you get and the massage that you can get from the oil. There are a lot of candles that would be good for short massages where you're basically just rubbing the oil in as a moisturizer, but for most longer massages where the oil starts out as a candle JimmyJane Afterglows are probably going to be recommended the most. The Tantric candle that sktb0007 recommends is a good one too, and cheaper than the Afterglows.
