The DONA Saga Continues...

The DONA line is spa quality products at discount store prices. There is so much variety of feelings that the products evoke in different users that each encounter is like a delightful surprise. This has been for my family an easy way to give everyone exactly what they want without having to buy several different products like we have to do with shampoo. There is no strong perfume scent that may bother sensitive users.

The DONA line from System JO, which debuted in December of 2011, is an aphrodisiac-infused line of bath and body products. The line was designed as a series of steps that as reported in my other DONA reviews , is intended to help guide the user through an indulgent, pampering experience. Each product in the line is infused with one of six known aphrodisiacs.

The ritual contains 5 steps.
1. Relax- Slow down and set the sensual tone.
2. Cleanse- Purify your body using luxurious lathers, exfoliators and gels.
3. Nourish- Make your skin touchable and kissably soft.
4. Illuminate- Enhance your natural beauty and space.
5. Engage- Share the fun with sensual play products.

The six known aphrodisiacs that DONA uses are:
- acai
- blue lotus
- camu camu
- goji berry
- mangosteen
- pomegranate

It is worth noting that Ashley from System JO was contacted by HNS Texas Mama and Ashley states that the scents used are not the names of the scent of the product. These are the names of the APHRODISIAC INGREDIENT that was used in the product. The scent may actually be quite different than the aphrodisiac that is listed.

The best use for this product is as a body wash although it may be used to add scent and a few bubbles to your bath as well. The DONA line will work for a variety of users, but those with sensitive skin are warned to test a small amount on their skin before using on the entire body. As noted in the review Polish and Burn by Kira(stained clear) when using the body polish from this line of products. The best occasion to use this product is any time you feel the need to wash your body with a product that is inexpensive and can get the job done without leaving any residue behind.

The ingredients are: Purified Water, Sodium C 14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Saccharide Isomerate, Sodium Chloride, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) berry, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed, Euterpe Oleracea (Açaí) Fruit, Morinda Citrifolia (Noni) Fruit, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf, Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Pericarp Extracts, Propanediol, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Guar Gum, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazone, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

Also noted by HNS Texas Mama, the glycerin present in this product is vegetable-based glycerin which does not cause problems like animal-based glycerin does.

As listed on the label of every product in the line, This product is cruelty free, paraben free, "natural" and free from petrol derivatives.

The body wash is gel- based which makes it in between when discussing thick and thin. It is not a thick material but it is not very thin either. It feels wet, has a slight weight to it and is a smooth cream. Below shown in the pictures is 1 squirt from the body wash on a piece of poster board. The first pictures shows the squirt before it is lifted to be allowed to run. Pictures 2,3 and 4 are the body wash at different intervals. Picture 2 is 5 seconds. Picture 3 is 10 seconds and picture 4 is 15 seconds.

The body wash comes equipped with a pump that is very easy to use. It doesn't stay in place very long as evidenced by the pictures above. It doesn't feel sticky or greasy before, after or during use.

Taste / Aroma

Since the product being tested is for bath and body, tasting was not an option. It smelled fruity and slightly soapy. The fruit smell easily overpowered the soap smell. The aroma in the bottle is slighlty strong but doesn't last long after being used. The smell lingers a little on the skin after the shower but it is not a very strong smell on the body. The aphrodisiac used in the body wash used was mangosteen.

mangosteen

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit that is grown primarily in the hot, humid climates of southeast Asia such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia. It is rich in antioxidants and has recently been added to a list of superfoods for containing high amounts of nurtients. It is not readily available in it's fruit form but may be found in some health food stores. Mangosteen is said to have anti-aging properties.

Truth be told it is hard to decide what it smells like, when the bottle is first opened it smells vaguely of mango, even though they are not related at all. After floating through the room for a bit, there was a slight smell reminiscent of papaya or some other tropical fruit that tastes equally as yummy.
    • Light smell
    • Smells good
    • Strong smell

Performance

The length that the product lasts depends mainly on how much each person uses when they shower. 2 pumps from the bottle will cover most people although it smells so delicious that many people use 2 pumps several times during one shower. It washes off very easily under the water stream and leaves no residue behind on the skin. The best thing about this product was the smell and how soft your skin feels after drying off with a towel. A good way to prolong the time that the scent stays on your skin would be to pair this with either the DONA Body Mist Lotion or the DONA Body Lotion with the same aphrodisiac that your body wash is.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural

Packaging

The produce arrived in a clear bottle with dark purple label that you will find on every "flavor" of the body wash. It has a lacy look to the label background. It was tied inside of a plastic bag to prevent any spillage but was probably unnecessary due to the fact that the pump was locked into it's closed position. There were instructions for use written on the label along with the ingredient list. The bottle is suitable for travel to most places but if your travel plans include getting on a plane you may want to invest in a set of travel size bottles to place your toiletries in.

There was one setback that is worth noting. After discussing with user Cookie Monster Mike , it has been found that several users complain of leakage from the bottle. This was noticed by users to have occurred when the room warmed up. It may be due to the fact that as the room warmed up so did the liquid in the bottle which made the liquid watery which then dripped from the pump. This can be combatted by locking the bottle when not in use, but some users may find that the bottle is harder to "unlock" and causes more trouble than is worth a few loose drips from the bottle.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Leaky container
    • Recyclable

Special Features

The DONA line is a product line based on aphrodisiacs. An aphrodisiac is a substance that causes sexual excitement. Some users claim that they have been sexually excited by using this product but this user has not had that pleasure. While using this product is enjoyable and gives a nice feeling of clean, there has been no sexual excitement noted by any of the users in this household. Since an aphrodisiac can be considered subjective, meaning it affects everyone in a different way and this user not at all, we will leave that part out of the rating that is given.

Personal comments

I have enjoyed trying many of the products for bath and beauty in the DONA line that are available here on the Eden website. My skin has been left feeling so soft that I find myself absently rubbing my arm at odd times. I should note that the best results that I have gotten with this product line was when I used several items. I used the body polish to exfoliate all parts of my body except my privates, while soaking in the bath milk and then using the body wash to clean the naughty bits. This was to avoid any irritation that the polish may cause in this area. After dabbing most of the water from my skin I used the body mist lotion over everything, again except the privates. After following this small ritual like bathing experience, I have noticed that my skin is soft, I got a slight energy buzz from the polish and I smell delightful for the rest of the day.

Experience

For those that don't know, I have children. They are teenagers and I pride myself on being very open with them when they have any questions. When this product arrived and they saw that it was a bath and beauty product they were ready to snatch it and run away, hiding it in their room for their use at a later date. Since this was a product line that uses aphrodisiacs I was hesitant to let either of them to use it before it had been fully tested by me. After several uses and no sexual excitement for me, I let the older of my two daughters try a little in her shower, after explaining to her why I didn't initially want them using it. After dear daughter number 1 used the body wash and polish several times, we all decided together that our family was possibly in the minority of those that this products aphrodisiac qualities did not work on. The body wash and body mist lotion work well with all three of us. The body polish works very well for myself and dear daughter number 1. I have not allowed dear daughter number 2 to use the polish due to her sensitive skin. Her skin is so sensitive that she has been know to break out in hives just by being hot. The body lotion worked well for me, but cause red welts to appear on dear daughter number 2 when used on a small section on the back of her leg. I am again saying that those users with sensitive skin should test a small amount of any of the product from this line on a patch of skin to ensure that if it causes a reaction, it is only a small reaction.
