The little shaving cream that couldn't.

If you're looking for a shave cream that is natural and moisturizing and smells great but also leaves a lot to be desired, this is your product. If you want something that doesn't make your skin feel like it's got a thick layer or residue on it afterwards, This isn't your product.

Use

I don't really understand all of the hype behind this product because from when I first used it I absolutely hated it. I mean to be honest it's not HORRIBLE, but I can't see myself ever using this again really. I would much rather use a hair conditioner or body moisturizer, frankly it just works better. This product is best used wet, because even though it states that it can be used dry effectively, I don't think it can. It doesn't absorb into the skin, it's too thick, and you absolutely need to clean your skin after using it, because you will be left with residue afterwards.

This product seems very natural, but it also has a bunch of ingredients that I can't really read or discern from, so I don't think this is totally hypo-allergenic. Saying that, I don't think it would cause any allergic breakouts, I'm not totally sure though.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture is very odd on this product, it's thick but it thins out really easily, almost too easily. The fact that it's thick is sort of a hindrance because it's not very pliable. It just stays where you leave it and it sticks to that spot. It's a sort of very clingy formula, it's quite weird. If you were to pump this on the skin and not move it around, it's not going anywhere, it stays exactly where you put it. I just don't like that you literally have to use a pile of this stuff for it to work. I'm used to using a minimal amount when shaving. I don't really like using a lot of product on my skin because it feels very unnecessary, so that is another drawback to this product.

Taste / Aroma

I didn't taste this product but I don't really imagine anything that would shave your body hair would taste good, it boasts of good materials used but those are among a lot of other things that I don't think I would want in my body. The smell is lovely, it's a light vanilla scent and it's very unassuming. It lingers very slightly on the skin after using and is probably the only redeemable quality of this product, in my mind at least.

Performance

When I first tried this product out, I did so dry which it said would be perfectly fine, even recommended right on the bottle but I found that it was far from fine. It did shave the area I wanted it to, but not as effectively as using a moisturizing cream such as Cetaphil, which is what I usually use to shave. It sort of left a layer of the product on my razor even after rinsing it repeatedly before and after. This was a big issue to me, I don't want a layer of gross white stuff on my razor that I can't wash off. It dulls the blades, at least that's what it felt like to me. Apart from that, the smell was really nice. I got it in Vanilla Bliss and it smells just like I thought it would, very nice and natural smelling, not too saccharine, just right.

I find that you need to use a lot of this product to get anywhere. It simply does not work if you use the minimal amount. It's like there is only one specific amount that would work for this product, and if you use too much the razor can't get through it at all. I really don't recommend using it dry, it just sits on the skin even if it appears to have absorbed, it hasn't.

Now I think it might just be me, and that I'm in the minority of people who don't like this, but for me, it just sits under my sink untouched most of the time. I'd rather use hair conditioner or Cetaphil.
    • Feels natural
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water

Packaging

EOS shave cream comes packaged in a great little bottle, with a very lovely pump dispenser and non slip surface with a great grip for when you're in the bath or shower and your hands are wet. It isn't just going to slip out and fall to the floor. The bottle is recyclable and tells me that this product is in fact not tested on animals. The capacity itself is 7 fl oz or 207 ml, there is a lot of product in the bottle and it seems like it would last a fair amount of time.

On the front, it claims that the product is ultra moisturizing, paraben-free with natural aloe and shea butter. It also tells me that this product can be used shaving wet or dry. The directions on the back of the bottle read: Pump two or three times, Apply thin layer, shave, touch, smile. It has a little thing above the directions where it talks all about how "great" this product is, the usual thing you would expect. On the side, it has a long list of ingredients which include but are not limited to: Water, Mineral Oil, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, and a bunch of other names that I cannot read.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Recyclable

Experience

I was actually really excited to try this product. The idea of it seemed great, but I was vastly disappointed. It smells really nice and natural, and it does moisturize well enough, however it just didn't do its job for me. I think a product should do what it says it's supposed to do, and this didn't do it in my opinion. Not a great experience overall, I still felt it on my skin after using it. It just isn't a good feeling.
Follow-up commentary
I don't understand the hype on this cream - to this day I narrow my eyes defiantly at this cream when I see it hiding under my sink. I can't find a use for it, and I will likely toss it out altogether.
