Too strong on its own but heavenly with rope

I had heard about the Hitachi Magic Wand long before I had the pleasure of using it. Though originally intended to be a run of the mill massager for backs and sore muscles, its ultra-powerful vibrations soon found it a comfortable home in the wonderful world of sex. The Hitachi is roughly a foot long and is best used on the clitoris. It has 2 settings, low and high, which can be quite powerful. It's made of plastic and carries a material safety rating of 8.
The Hitachi Magic Wand made a name for itself powering orgasms with super powerful vibrations. While it's amazing for most, I found the Hitachi's settings far too powerful on my clit. However, if you're worried about the Hitachi being too much for you, there are attachments and other toys that you can use with it to help get you off. My favorite way to use it is with rope. Use a good rope that will carry the vibrations and make a few well placed knots. The rope keeps the vibrations from being too powerful while the knots keep the vibrations going right where they should be.
As far as discretion goes, the size of the Hitachi and its original intended purpose helps it blend in pretty easily as just a regular back massager. It's far less discreet in the noise department. This thing is quite loud. If you're using it, your house should either be empty or you better not care who hears you getting off!

Good alternative to Hitachi?

I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!

I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.
I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!
I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.
