Use It Before, And Use It After
Looking for a great smelling cleaner to do quick spot cleans or clean smooth toys? Then look at this. It's not going to replace soap and water, but it will do a good job for all your in between times.Published: March 13, 2011
Pros:
Leaves toys looking and feeling pretty clean
Cons:
Not a good substitute for soap and water
I've said it before in a few places, and I'll say it again here. This really isn't a proper substitute for soap and water. But while it doesn't do the deep, down, and dirty clean that soap can do, it's still not a bad choice for quick cleanups if you haven't made much of a mess, or if you just want to give your toys a quick cleaning every now and then.
That being said, I really do like spray cleaners. They're incredibly convenient. I had a different one, but in helping my friend start her toy collection, I passed it on to her at about half full. That being the case, I had the need for a replacement spray, and chose this one.
The bottle isn't exactly discreet, with "classic erotica" and "adult toy cleaner" plastered right on the front, but if you keep it in a drawer, nobody will ever notice. It's a generous 4 fluid ounces, and for the price, I'm happy with it. The label also covers the ingredients: water, cocamidopropyl PG-dimonium chloride phosphate, benzyl alcohol, disodium EDTA, and fragrance. It also tells you the best way to use it is to spray on, wipe off, and have fun. You can of course rinse it off as well if you prefer. They say that there are no harsh soaps that could harm you or your toys, but everybody is created differently, and some people might be more sensitive to some of the ingredients.
The spray nozzle is also really convenient, and works very well, spraying out a whole bunch of product with each press. That's both good and bad. Good because you can rest assured that your toy is indeed getting plenty of cleaner on it, bad because it's really easy to use too much and then you end up going through the cleaner faster.
It does smell really nice, sort of fruity with a hint of fresh. I'm not sure how the hint of fresh got in there, but it's there. I've used it on a few different toys and it leaves them all feeling and looking clean. Toys that are more prone to picking up scents will of course pick up the scent of this as well, which shouldn't be a problem if you don't mind the scent. It'll work better on smoother, less porous toys soon after use. Anything with a lot of texture, you might have problems getting the spray to cover everything you need to and anything that's had a chance to dry might be more difficult for the spray to get into and remove.

Experience
So far, I'm pretty impressed with this. I've always known that spray cleaners weren't a good replacement for soap and water, but I've never been too worried. I love the way this one smells, and it does seem to do a pretty good job as well. Like I said earlier, textured toys might still pose a problem, but for the most part, this is a good choice.

What does before & after do.. before you use it?
-
Is it both a lubricant and a sanitizer? how does that work?
-
It is not a lubricant but merely cleans the toys. When the toy is sitting around, it gathers fungal spores, dust, and bacteria.
-
Before you use it it sits there and looks pretty :P
In theory you're supposed to use it before you use your toys and then after you use your toys to ensure optimal cleanness. At least according to the bottle.

Before & After Toy Cleaner...
-
This one got lots of great reviews, but I've got a couple of questions for all you reviewers who use this. The description says you have to "spray, wipe, then rinse" but most of the reviews say no rinsing required. Can you guys confirm there's no residue if you don't rinse? One review mentioned it didn't clean the crevices of textured toys well. Anyone else have that experience? Would you say it replaces the soap & water routine completely?
-
Nah, it doesn't replace soap and water, in my opinion. It may be because I've used soap and water for so long, but I just don't see the benefit to spraying something and then wiping it off. I find the cleaner hard to wipe off on toys w/ texture, and maybe I'm nuts, but then I don't feel like a toy is really clean. It would do in a pinch, but I don't mind soap and water so that's what I go for 90% of the time.

I like the the idea of toy cleaner but I always wondered what exactly you wipe down with? What's a good cloth for that?

good review, thanks
amazing review
Thanks for the great review!
Thanks for the review. I could probably use something like this.
This would be good for my Pocket Fairy. It's a pain to put under water without getting the underside wet.
Thanks everybody!
