Vanilla Bliss, Bliss Baby.

EOS Shave cream worked fairly well for me. I was surprised to see that it sells for almost twice as much on Eden as it does on the EOS website, which is not the standard for other products offered. I would still purchase it using points and/or a discount code, as I liked the way it smelled and performed.

Use

EOS shave cream comes packaged in a 7 ounce plastic pump bottle. It can be used to remove unwanted hair from any part of the body. It can be used wet or dry, although I tried it dry. I assume men could use this for facial hair as well. It is intended to moisturize as well. What drew me to this product was it's lack of soap and parabens which I can be sensitive to, as are many people. I am pretty sensitive and I had no problems with this product. Just keep in mind to use enough of this product, especially when using dry, to avoid any irritation.

Here is a full listing of the ingredients for the EOS shave cream:

Water (Eau), Mineral Oil (Huile Minerale), Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Glycol Stearate, Triethanolamine, Cetyl Alcohol, Petrolatum, Glucono Delta Lactone, Sodium Benzoate, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Carbomer, Fragrance (Parfum), Disodium EDTA, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter(, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propylene Glycol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture of the EOS shave cream is nice and thick and not runny at all. The cream pumps out generously into the hand and feels thick. It is not clumpy and spreads smoothly over the skin, staying in place for the duration of the shave; which I performed dry. I showered after shaving and the left over product remained in place until I physically washed it off. I am confident it would remain in place during a wet shave. When I did wash it away, it left no greasy feel or stickiness on my body. The thick texture will most likely make it difficult to get the last bits of product out of the container, as other reviewers, like TravelNurse has indicated in her review.
I did happen to get a bit on one of my towels, but it did not appear to stain and pretty much just absorbed into the towel. It seems like it should wash away in the laundry.

Taste / Aroma

I chose the Vanilla Bliss scent shave cream. The aroma is pleasant, and not too sweet for fake smelling, like some vanilla scented products I have used in the past. It faintly lingers on the skin after shaving but is not overpowering. It reminded me of Warm Vanilla and Brown Sugar from Bath and Body Works or a Glade Vanilla candle, only softer and lighter. If vanilla isn't your scent of choice there are other options available. Choose from the following:

Jasmine/Lavender
Pomegranate/Raspberry
Cucumber/Melon
Island Blue
Unscented

Overall, I enjoyed the scent and liked that it was not too strong. If you are particularly sensitive or unsure if the scent will bother you I would recommend the unscented version.

Performance

I changed the blade on my razor prior to testing the shave cream, to ensure the best results. I used Venus triple blade razors, which have performed well with other shaving creams and soaps. I decided to test the cream on dry skin, as it can be used either way.

It spread well, but I had to use quite a bit to cover my entire leg. There was no drag when shaving my legs but I did have to rinse the blade quite frequently as the cream is so thick. I did not suffer an nicks or bumps on my legs and they still feel smooth more than 24 hours later (with the exception of the spots I missed!).

I would not recommend using this dry for the bikini area. But if you do be sure to use quite a bit and let it set for a few minutes to soften hair. I did get a few bumps on my bikini area, but they were far less than those from any other product I have used.

As far as underarms, it performed well, and I had no bumps or cuts after shaving.

I would recommend this product for those with sensitive skin but would caution to use it on damp skin only. This will soften the hair and provide a bit more cushion, particularly in the bikini area. Using it on damp skin will also disperse the cream better. I went through almost 1/4 of the container the first time I used it.

Packaging

The bottle is well designed. It has grips on it so it is easier to hold when using in the shower. Since it is entirely plastic, it will not leave a rust ring in the tub or on the sink. This is a tip I picked up from the EOS website. Some reviewers have stated that the pump does not go all the way to the bottom of the bottle. When I took the pump out and held it up next to the bottle it did appear to reach all the way down. That isn't to say it won't be difficult to get the last bits out, as the cream is super thick. The pump can also be screwed in a locked for travel, if desired. Be sure to pack this in checked luggage if you fly with it, as it is larger than TSA allows for a carry on. You don't want your nice shave cream thrown away or taken by an airline employee!

The bottle encourages the user to recycle. However, it is made from plastic which is #7 in the recycling code world, and many facilities do not accept this type of plastic. The company is based in New York, which recycles EVERYTHING. I know this from living there. Where I am now in the Midwest, it is a different story. Recycling is not easy and many apartment complexes don't even have a place for recyclable materials, or they are limited to #2 plastic only.

Experience

I feel that choosing to shave dry affected the performance of this shave cream. I would not recommend it. This choice resulted in using way more of the cream on my legs than I would have needed if I shaved wet. I used about 12 pumps per full leg. Conversely, I did not use enough cream on my bikini area for a dry shave. I used 4 pumps, but probably should have used 6-8 for the entire bikini area, resulting in some very mild irritation. I used one pump total for underarms, which would remain the same for a wet shave.

In the future, I intend to use this product on wet skin, and would suggest others doing the same. My follow-up review will discuss the difference in amount used and results of using it wet instead.
Follow-up commentary
I love, love, love this shave cream! I used it on damp skin with great results. Less product was needed and I got a nice, smooth shave. Jut be sure to use enough product in the bikini area!
