Velvety soft Milk Made mitts

Cake Beauty's Velveteen Hand Creme leaves skin silky smooth and oh so soft. It comes in three delectable scents, along with an unscented version, to suit anyone's taste. Though the price is a little steep, only the smallest amount of product is needed to achieve results. So in the end, you'll get many uses out of the generous sized bottle, making the price worth it.

Use

Do your hands take a beating and are in need of a little love? Then slather on some of Cake Beauty's Velveteen Hand Creme. It's available in four scents to suit anyone's needs or tastes and is paraben free. Like a lot of other hand lotions, this does contain glycerin, so keep this product away from your naughty bits if you're irritated by that ingredient.

The ingredients listed on the Milk Made scented hand creme are:
Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Cetyl alcohol, Glyceryl stearate, Cetearyl alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Dimethicone, Stearic acid, Althaea officinalis (marshmallow) extract, Milk Lipid, Mangifera indica (Mango) seed butter, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea Butter), Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl glycol, Sorbic acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Carbomer, Sodium hydroxide, Tetrasodium EDTA

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Cake Beauty's Velveteen Hand Creme is thick and velvety with no grains or textures. It easily squeezes from the tube and does not run down skin. Because of its thickness, only a small amount is needed and it rubs nicely into skin with no greasiness or stickiness.

Taste / Aroma

The Velveteen Hand Creme in the Milk Made scent is very sweet and available in many other of Cake Beauty's products. The Milk Made scent is described as vanilla milk and baked raspberry. And that's exactly what it smells like. To me, it's not too overwhelming or chemical/artificial smelling and it reminds me of raspberry cookie bars.

Compared to, say, the Cake Beauty Milk Made bath and shower bubbles, the hand creme's scent is lighter. While it still is the same scent, because you only need a very small amount of the product, the scent is softer and I personally feel it would be suitable for those with scent sensitivities. After rubbing the creme into my skin, the scent didn't linger very long. If I applied a very tiny amount, I could only barely detect the smell after 10 minutes. A larger amount of the product seems to allow the scent to last a bit longer.

This is an external use only product, do no ingest. I didn't taste this (no matter how yummy it smells), neither should you.

Performance

As I said above, only a small dollop of the product is needed to thoroughly moisturize hands. If using on elbows, arms, knees, etc...a bit more creme might be needed. It rubbed in very easily, absorbed quickly and didn't leave my hands greasy feeling at all. I personally would have liked it if the scent was a bit stronger and lasted longer, but it's no big deal and I can always apply more. The creme left my skin soft and supple for hours. My hands were still soft (though scentless) after a hand washing and didn't require a reapplication of hand creme - though I should say that that will depend on how dry my hands were before applying the creme in the first place. If your hands were very dry before applying, you might need to reapply after one hand washing; if they weren't very dry, you might only need to reapply after two hand washings.

Packaging

The Velveteen Hand Creme in Milk Made comes in a simple, discreet white squeeze tube with a flip top lid. The tube holds 3.4 fluid ounces of product and can easily be opened with one hand. The front lists the name of the product and scent and a brief paragraph about the product and its usage in both English and French. The back lists the ingredients, Cake Beauty's website address and toll-free phone number.

The tube doesn't leak and can easily be traveled with or carried in a purse. The tube is also nice enough to give as a gift.

Experience

I am constantly on the lookout for new hand lotions, and usually end up disappointed. Either a product leaves my hands very dry, or too greasy, or the scent is horrid and gives me a headache. I had long been interested in trying the Cake Beauty Velveteen Hand Creme, but could never justify spending that much on a hand creme (even with the help of points, GC's, etc). After finally grabbing a tube, I wish I would have gotten one much sooner.

There isn't much I can say here that I haven't said above. This stuff smells awesome, doesn't give me a headache, and leaves my hands so soft and silky. While it is expensive, only a very small amount is needed to thoroughly moisturize my hands, so the product should last for quite some time. I definitely would recommend this hand creme to others and will purchase another bottle. Which I'm going to have to do soon, anyway...I hand originally bought this for a mother's day gift because my mother loves raspberry scented items. She only takes showers (and only uses bar soaps), so this hand creme was the only product she'd actually use. So sadly, I have to give this up. At least she let me try it so I could review it.
Follow-up commentary
There really needs to be an "I still LOVE it" option for this because I still LOVE this hand creme. Since I bought this for my mother, she tries to hide it so I can't use it. But I do have a smaller bottle that came in the Cake Beauty Plane Friendly Travel Kit... and yes, my mother has tried stealing that from me because it came with the shower froths and lotions. Definitely a five star product!
