Venus As A Boy

When I saw that Venus had a "Man" scent for their products, I hoped it would smell something like this and I wasn't disappointed. If wearing heavy colognes isn't your style but you're tired of the floral and/or fruity smells most light body sprays tend to contain, this one might work for you. If it was stronger I would consider it perfect for me.

Use

Venus aromatic mist is a light fragrance spray perfect for use on your skin after a bath/shower to add a little something. It's not going to make its presence loud and clear like, for example, how Axe would. It's subtle.

Hypothetically, it could also be used to lightly scent anything else you like. It didn't stain my clothes or anything and would be nice for spraying, say, your sheets as a mood enhancer or to help you relax.

It would also make a great gift, regardless of the scent you choose to purchase. There's something for everyone among their selections, from typical fruity stuff to the more interesting like green tea and juniper. I chose to try the "Man" scent of this product. This particular one is great for, well, men and anyone else who likes fragrances on the spicy, warm side of things like many men's cologne brands tend to be.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The consistency is just like water. It's very thin. You spray it on, and it dries up very fast. It doesn't feel oily or sticky, and it leaves no stains or residue on skin or fabric. I hate it when products leave a residue behind and was very pleased that this one didn't!

My skin is moderately sensitive, as is my sense of smell, and this product didn't give me redness or anything. It also didn't give me a headache like some more strongly perfumed products do.

Taste / Aroma

In the forums here, people were joking around about what a "Man" scent could possibly smell like. Well, I'm here to tell you that it's definitely not anything gross like people were joking about. It's pretty darn nice.
The smell of this body spray in the bottle itself has a sort of oceanlike scent at first, followed by a gingery spiciness that grows stronger then fades. It smells very similar to what you might expect if you're assuming that a "Man"-scented body spray would smell like those guys who "just smell good" naturally and popular men's colognes. It's spicy and warm.

After a few hours of blending with my skin, the scent got a little sweeter and less cologne-like (In style, not strength. It was never as strong as cologne.). It smelled more like my own natural scent when clean mixed with woods and gingerbread. Oh yes, I like it.

Performance

The first time I put some on to test the way it reacted with my body, I didn't put on very much so it wasn't strong at all and I couldn't really smell it unless I put my nose right up to my skin. It lasted at this weak strength for hours though. The second time I tried it out for this review, I was going out, and I sprayed a liberal amount on my bare skin and on my clothing also. It still wasn't that strong unless you got up very close to me and basically tried to breathe it in. Most people around me didn't react to my new body spray but one person, after hugging me, remarked that I smelled good. I'm guessing they caught a hint of it. I couldn't smell it on myself at that point. If you want the scent to stand out, I recommend spraying a large amount of it and/or layering it with other Venus products in the same scent like the body butter. The bottle is a good size so don't be afraid to use a lot. You won't run out too quickly.
I was glad that it did not stain my clothes when I sprayed it on, that was a plus. I have a habit of doing this but, well, not all body sprays will just dry up om the fabric without a trace. This one does.
Soap and water removed all traces of the smell from my skin when I was done with the evening.

Packaging

The 4 oz. bottle is a decent size, comparable with other body sprays I've bought. It came to me in a clear plastic bag that I had to unknot and rip off. On the front side of the bottle's label is "Venus" in large letters and "Man" underneath it on a blue background. There's also a picture of a somewhat suggestively cropped portion of a naked man's chest and thigh. I found this amusing but I wish it was a little less, um, sensual in appearance. I don't consider an "aromatic mist" a sexual item but the label makes it look more sexual than it is. I'll probably peel it off.
On the side of the label: "Fall in love with Venus refreshing aromatic mist. Set the mood with one spray." It also has this in Spanish directly underneath and then the list of ingredients, which I will include here: Aqua (de-ionized water), propylene plycol, alcohol, fragrance, DMDM hyndantoin. It may contain FD&C YELLOW, #6 FDC RED, and #33 FD&C BLUE #1. The bottle has quite a few misspellings on it which I also found amusing.

At the bottom on the same side is both a physical and a web address for the company as well as tiny instructions to use this product for external use only and to keep it out of children's reach.

Follow-up commentary
I still love how this smells and actually still have quite a bit left! Everyone who can actually smell it on me compliments it and when I run out I will definitely buy more. I think it will take me a while though. I wear it almost every day and have for the last two months and have still only used up a small amount of the bottle.
