Use

The Hitachi Magic Wand is great for anyone who isn't getting as much pleasure with a regular vibrator. This vibrator - which is powered by wall outlet rather than batteries - has so much power, that even on low I can achieve climax within minutes. This is a clitoral product; however, there are accessories available to attach for vaginal stimulation.

This toy is for those of us who are having a hard time achieving an orgasm with a battery operated vibrator. Someone who requires more stimulation would benefit from this. This is great with play with your partner or by yourself. It is not the quietest toy in the world, so you may not want to use it if there are guests right on the other side of the wall, especially if you're trying to be discreet.

If used too much, this toy can desensitize you over time. You would want to make sure that you also use other toys in between uses, so that you can get the most from this product.

I have noticed that when you use it for too long in one sitting, the temperature will rise, so you may want to be careful not to use for too long in one setting.

I have also found it is great for achy shoulders/muscles.

Material / Texture

The material when first taken out of the box has a slight smell, but nothing that doesn't go away quickly. It's not horrible, but it's not pleasant either. After the first cleaning, I found it went away. I have had my Hitachi Magic Wand for 6 months now and have not noticed any smell. The texture is smooth. I wish it was a bit rougher; I think that could be an interesting feel when using it.

Beginners and advanced users alike would find the material pleasant.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Smooth

Design / Shape / Size

The design could be better, in my opinion. The head is not flexible; I would like to be able to have the head at an angle, that way I can hold it a little more comfortably. I notice that if for some reason climax is taking a bit longer, that it starts to hurt my wrist to hold it in place. I think the added flexibility would be a plus for all users.

The shape of the head is interesting. Some days it works well for me, some days I prefer to use the edge of the top surface. When using the flat top surface, it seems to get an "all over" feel. While some days that feels great, others I want something a little more focused on my clitoris.

The size of the toy is rather intimidating at first. It's pretty large. I wish the handle was a bit shorter, and the head a bit smaller. I tend to only be able to climax off of clitoral stimulation, rather than vaginal. The only position that allowed me to use this while my husband and I had intercourse was doggy with it under me and my holding it onto my clitoris. Being so large an item, it was a bit interesting to get it in the right position. Once there, it is hard to maintain because of how large it is, and again, the handle is straight. If the handle was curved, this would be much easier in any position. My husband did love the vibrations he felt off it when we used it during sex.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Hitachi has one function - to vibrate. There are two speeds - high and low. There is a big difference between high and low. However, a first time user would be scared even on low. It's very high powered, and on your first few uses low may seem high. Once the Hitachi has been used a few times and my body was used to it, the high function was a new introduction. The switch to turn the product to low/high and off is on the handle. Depending on where you hold it, you could accidentally knock it into a different setting or turn it off, which is a bit inconvenient in the moment. You learn where to hold it after that.

The toy is noisy. Definitely something the neighbors could hear if left the windows open. I prefer to use this when I know that everyone is asleep in the house (well, except my husband), and I can be assured that my son won't hear it.

The is definitely not waterproof! You have to plug it into a wall outlet in order for it to work. So if used in the shower or a pool, you run the risk of electrocution. I find that it holds well with my wetness when I play with it. So far that has not been an issue for us.
    • Easy to use
    • Not discreet at all
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

The Hitachi is not able to be sanitized. So if you plan on using with a partner (or multiple partners), you will want put a condom over the top of it. Otherwise, after use, just take a clean wet cloth and wipe it clean.

You can store this anywhere that is not damp. It needs to be stored in a dry place. I keep mine in a drawer. I have not used this with other lubes; however, I would recommend being careful, as this product is probably not capable of being used with too much lube. I have used a dildo with this product, but may prove to be difficult when you're by yourself. As this product is so big, I find it easier when I have my husband play with the dildo with me, and I control the Hitachi.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The toy is packaged in an rectangular box that is just as long as the toy, and just as wide. There is a plastic wrapping over the toy and cord. The packaging probably can be used for storage if you have something small enough and long enough to go in there.

The pictures on the package show a woman in a workout outfit using it on her back and arms. So if you are not familiar with the product you would think it was a massager.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Minimal
    • Recyclable

Personal comments

I love this product. I use it every once in a while. It is in rotation with a few others. I do not want to become desensitized, so I make sure to not use it all the time. It is definitely not something you want to get for beginners, as it is so high powered. This is something that is good for the experienced user.

Experience

While in doggy position, position your arm under your body to hold the Hitachi in place. Your male partner will feel the vibrations, and my husband says that the feeling is good, and helped him out a bit.
Follow-up commentary
I still really, really love this toy. I use it when I want a quick orgasm, or when my husband and I are having sex. This helps my orgasms come harder, stronger, and I even squirt when I really let go. I love this toy, and I cannot imagine myself without it!

I'd still totally recommend it to everyone who is looking for more than their current toys offer them. If you're looking to up the ante, this is the one to do it.

  • Good alternative to Hitachi?
    • I had a rechargeable mini fairy wand, but last week it ended up breaking, and now I'm desperately looking for a similar type wand massager. I've looked at a couple, but I'd really like some input on which massager people are recommending. Thanks!
    • I have 3 wand massagers that I use at times. There are things I love and hate about all of them. The hitachi is the most powerful one, but it is so loud! The Wahl 2 speed is also great. It is the quietest and I love how rumbly the vibes are! But none of the attachments are quite right for me. If I could only have one wand I would get Inspire. It has a button that you press and release when the power is at your desired strength. In stead of just 2 speeds like the hitachi or the wahl you have control over how much power you want to use. The Inspire has a detachable silicone head. My complaints are that it gets hot after about 20 minutes, at at the higher speeds it gets pretty loud. Your toy was rechargable, but the wands I listed all plug in and have more power. Good luck with your replacement!

Ooh, thanks! Yeah, the rechargeable wands tend to get really hot too, plus it would die after 20-30 minutes, so I needed to stay near an outlet at all times. Noise isn't really an issue for me (at least not right now). The one I had before had an adjustable wheel for vibration intensity, but to be honest, I always turned it all the way up and never changed it, so maybe I don't really need adjustable speeds.

I've never tried any of the detachable heads. Are they worth buying?

  • Will it be out of stock until the sale is over?
    • Ekk! It is out of stock again! I keep missing it. I finally have enough to buy it but I guess the discount made it sell like crazy. Does it typically not come back in until the sale is over?

Panicing a bit because I'm moving soon and will need to purchase it within the next week.
    • You can open a support ticket from your account dashboard to ask about it. If they know when it'll be coming in they'll be happy to tell you.

  • Strength
    • Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
    • Quote: Are there any stronger vibrators out there?
Probably not for less than fifty dollars. A friend of mine is saving for the Sybian or The Rock Box. I can't speak from experience about either of those vibrators though. However, if you want something similar to the Hitachi, I would suggest either The Wahl or a Fairy Wand. I own the Hitachi, Wahl, and Fairy Mini but highly suggest the Wahl. It is the most rumbly of the three and is nearly silent.

I think the Hitachi is the strongest vibe i know of.

  • Hitachi Wand Vs. Acyvube
    • Is the hitachi better than the acuvibe for anyone who has had the chance to try both? I'm under the impression that they are essentially the same thing but maybe I'm wrong...
    • I have had both, and they are really both very good toys. The main difference really is that the Acuvibe is rechargeable and can be used cordless, while the Hitachi must plug in to work. Personally, I think that the Hitachi is slightly stronger, and it has definitely outlasted my Acuvibes - I have had two, and they both broke down after about six months or so.

We are going on 3+ years on the acuvibe. The shell is starting to crack but it still functions great, I just wanted to know if we should switch when I do want to buy a new one. More powerful sounds good :)

  • The Size !!!!!!!
    • Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
    • In the way of what, exactly? It's not really a toy for couples play and actually it's not even designed for masturbation but has become the Holy Grail of vibrators through decades of word of mouth.
    • Quote: Does the size get in the way ??????? It's so BIGGGGGG........
It's really only meant for external use. So if you are talking about insertion it probably would be a bit big.

    • Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
    • There are a few. If you search the site you can find a couple.
    • Quote: Is there a head set for universal attatchments anyone knows of?
I don't know if I understand the question, but the attachment we bought for our Hitachi is a "universal" attachment that we bought from another store. It's too "floppy" for me, but is a nice g-spot attachment, or would be if it was a little stiffer!

  • Bullet Vibes that rival the Hitachi Magic Wand
    • Hello, everyone!

Recently I've sold my Hitachi to a friend, and I've been on the market for a new clit vibe. I'm one of those girls who has a "clit-o-steel&quo t;, so I can't really get off unless I have something powerful on my clit. I bought a LAYAspot by FunFactory, thinking it would be a nice, powerful bullet to use when I'm with my partner, and I realized that it barely even packs a punch!

I guess I'm being a bit picky. I don't want something that's as strong as the Hitachi's HIGH setting, but something kind of inbetween the two, one that has a few nice, strong modes.

I was looking at the more expensive clit vibes- JeJoue's MiMi and Lelo's Siri. Do you think that they would be strong enough? Do you recommend anything? Thanks guys!

U had the flexi anal rod prior to the Hitachi..It is strong as well, and it probably right between the hitachi hi and low... I actually prefer the two setting on Hitach..SHIT and OHH SHIT.. The flexi rod has about 4 if i'm not mistaken..Plus it is flexible as well.. Costs about 25.00

Its on a review of mine already..

  • Hitachi
    • This is by far the best purchase I've made. My wife has a tough time reaching orgasm and needs the intense vibrations for her to climax. The Hitachi far exceeds this task, she doesn't use any other toy now, always reaches for the Hitachi. Just need to get her the G-spot attachment and she is set up. Thanks again.
    • I completely agree. The Magic Wand is the best vibrator ever.

  • Have you ever used a wand?
    • HI I was wondering if you have ever used anything like the Fairy Wand? I have used the baby fairy wand but its tiny... the size of the larger ones kind of intimidate me ... what are your thoughts on them and should I get one?
    • I dislike most of them intensely. They're too strong, too big and they make my whole vulva - as well as my hands - feel numb.

      Many folks love them, though!
    • I used the Wanachi Mini, which I really liked. Unfortunately it fell apart, it seems mine wasn't the only one either. I did contact Pipedream though and they seem eager to correct this problem!
