Watch How You Handle this Massage Candle
The really cool thing about massage candles is that they burn at lower temperatures, so the melted wax can be poured comfortably onto skin and used as massage oil. This one comes beautifully packaged in an ergonomic porcelain jar with a removable lid and spout for easy pouring. The chocolate cinnamon scent is divine and not overpowering.Published: June 12, 2010
Pros:
Lovely scent, gorgeous packaging, long burn time, good quality ingredients
Cons:
Expensive, leaves a tacky residue, wick can be temperamental
Experience
While I love the scent of this candle and how the melted wax/massage oil feels during the brief time stays a pourable/liquid consistency, I was rather disappointed by how quickly it cooled and the unpleasant residue it left on my skin.
Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I guess saying I still don't like it might be a little bit unfair since for the past 2 months I have been enjoying it as a regular candle. However, its performance as a massage candle was so disappointing that I gave up on it for that purpose. I did not burn this candle every night, but I am pleased that it lasted for 2 months. If I had been using the melted wax for massages, it would not have lasted nearly that long. Now that there's hardly any wax left, the wick has become tricky to keep lit and the scent is not as strong.

Massage Candles-Yes?No?Worth the price?
-
Im not really one for the whole "hot wax" foreplay, but I really love the massage benefits because of my muscle/joint pains and fibromyalgia issues. $35 seems like a lot to spend on this candle, but I LOVE the look and it seems to be a decent size. What do you think? Are there better ones out there? Which is your favorite? What would you suggest?

While I don't have that specific candle, we have tried others and we really enjoy using them. My partner absolutely loves the heat of the oil. I know he would say it's worth it. I personally think $35 is a bit much, but since my partner loves it so much, I let him buy it lol!
There are other candles that are decent for lower prices if you wanted to try one out. Try searching the Tantric Candle. We tried that one and it was pretty fantastic. -
The JimmyJane candles are about the best as far as what you get and the massage that you can get from the oil. There are a lot of candles that would be good for short massages where you're basically just rubbing the oil in as a moisturizer, but for most longer massages where the oil starts out as a candle JimmyJane Afterglows are probably going to be recommended the most. The Tantric candle that sktb0007 recommends is a good one too, and cheaper than the Afterglows.

Thank you for viewing Don't stop massage candle – massage candles review page!

It's too bad that you did not like it for a massage, the scent sounds wonderful, but it would probably too expensive just for an aromatherapy candle. Maybe it would cool less quickly in front of a hot fireplace... Just a thought, . Thanks for the review.
It's too bad it doesn't work better - the scent sounds wonderful
