Use

Winter lips are dry lips, especially in this neck of the woods. Finding a lip gloss that lasts, looks great, and actually locks in moisture can be a tough mystery to solve. The Cake Beauty Winter Wonderlips Trio is the perfect solution for your needs. I suspect it is because they are a Canadian company - they get it.

It comes with three 11 ml tubes. It comes in the nicest packaging, perfect for gift giving (even with a little To: and From: spot on the back.) This would make a great gift for any lip gloss loving ladies in your life. Each tube has a silver screw-on top that holds the long wand of the sponge tip applicator. The tubes are plastic and all of the packaging can be recycled. They do not test on animals and pride themselves on using many natural ingredients.

The first shade is Vanilla Frost. This one is listed as creamy pearl with opalescent shine. The tube is a very pale pink and, once applied, really doesn't leave any color, but it does leave the lips shiny with just a hint of sparkle.

Next up is Pink Icicle. Listed as sheer pink with diamond sparkle, it comes in the tube that is more of a bubblegum pink. Once applied, it does leave a very slight pink hue to the lips but it is barely there. It seems to mostly enhance the natural color of the lips and, of course, more sparkle and shine.

Lastly, we have Gold Glimmer. This one is said to be glistening nude with golden sheen and comes in the gold toned tube. This one is also a barely there color, leaving the lips shiny, sparkly, and delicious.

The ingredients list (as listed on the box and on site here) are as follows: Polybutene, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Octyldodecanol, Canola Oil, Ozokerite Wax, Aroma, Ethylene/propylene/styrene Copolymer, Silica, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Punica Granatum Sterols, C10-30 Cholesterol/Lanosterol Esters, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Benzophenone 3, Sorbic Acid, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil. May contain: Mica (CI 77019) Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499) D&C Red #6 Lake (CI 15850;2), D&C Red #7 Lake (CI 15850;1) D&C Red #27 Lake (CI 145410;2) FD&C Blue #1 Lake (CI 42000), FD&C Yellow #5 Lake (CI 19140;1), FD&C Yellow #6 Lake (CI 15985;1), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Tin Oxide (CI 77861)

Just a note that this company boasts all over the packaging and website that their products are always Paraben free.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This stuff is thick and stays put. It goes on smooth and does not glob. The sponge tip applicator holds just the right amount for one application without having to dip in for more. Although it does eventually get sticky, it takes quite a while to get there. Even at that, the stickiness is not bad. It is not like your hair sticks to your lips if you are standing in the wind...I hate that!

Although the tubes are jam packed with little sparkles, you cannot feel them once the gloss is applied. It is just slick, shiny goodness that smooths over the lips quickly and easily.

Taste / Aroma

All three of these lip glosses smell the same. They all smell just like vanilla cake batter. Normally, I am not a huge fan of the fake vanilla scented stuff that is out there, but this one does not have that same annoying chemical smell. It is just straight up Betty Crocker cake mix. It actually makes me want to get in the kitchen and bake. It is not an overwhelming smell at all. You really have to get close to smell it.

The taste is faint, but has a sweetness to it. There is no bitterness to it before or after you lick your lips.

Performance

This gloss stays on for quite a while. Your lips will stay moist and shiny. Naturally, it will need to be reapplied after eating. It does eventually get a little sticky, as most glosses do, but it is nothing a little reapplication cannot fix. It wipes away easily with just a tissue. Once removed, your lips still feel nourished.

Experience

I am seriously loving this stuff. Trying the gloss trio is making me want to try more of the Cake line. With Christmas coming, this would make a perfect stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift. Because the colors are so faint, they all can go with any skin tones.
Follow-up commentary
LOVE! I have called this stuff my "lip crack" and have even given a tube of it to a friend (not so willingly I might add). I hoard the other 2 tubes like a girl on a TLC special.
