Wonder massage oil that rivals what professionals use and comes out on top!

As a professional therapist, I have to say that this is one of the best massage oils you will find. I have yet to find something that compares to this in both scent and quality.

It has a relaxing scent that is light and relaxing. Should you need something to help with tired muscles, look to the Healing Blend. Stressed out and want to relax, Serenity is for you. Looking for something to go with the candle lit dinner and jazz, Pleasure Garden is the little extra touch you want.

Use

This is a wonderful product that I would recommend to anyone. It is not safe to use in intimate areas, so be careful with your sensual massages when using this. It is made out of mostly natural ingredints but does have some essential oils so caution is advised if you have sensitive skin or a potential for a reaction.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is a light weight oil that will not leave you feeling sticky or greasy. If too much is used you may feel like you are oily, but it is easy to wipe off with a paper towel. It warms up nicely when you are using it and has a nice glide that doesn't require massive amounts of the oil, unless you are working on someone with really dry skin. The top has an easy pour feature that you just press on one corner of the top and tilt it. It doesn't require much to get it out and can be done with out squeezing the bottle.
    • Smooth
    • Velvety

Taste / Aroma

It really is not intended to be edible so if you are tasting it, then you should stop biting your nails or clean the person up before you bite them. The Serenity has a light relaxing smell of lavender, a hint of citrus, and a slight woodsy smell. The essential oils that are in it are cedar, sweet marjoram, neroli, orange, tangerine and lavender. I honestly can't think of what it reminds me of besides a relaxing day with the one I love. I can easily explain this by the fact that I first used it when I was massaging him.

It also comes in other scents that are just as subtle and relaxing. The sweet almond is the most simple of the oils. While the Pleasure Garden is italian jasmine, rose, lavender and sandalwood; the Soaring Spirit is fruity with orange, lemon, peppermint, spearmint, geranium, ginger and fennel; and the Healing Blend is more of a woodsy smell with lavender, cardamom, rosemary, marjoram, elemi, clary sage, black pepper, clove, nutmeg, juniper and pine.
Each blend is meant to have a different effect on the body. Healing blend is supposed to help tired muscles, Pleasure Garden is supposed to be more of a sensual oil, and Serenity is more of a soothing and general relaxing. The sweet almond is also good for a general relaxing effect.
    • Light smell
    • Not for consumption
    • Smells good

Performance

As a professional massage therapist, this doesn't last very long for me. But for the average person it should last you at least a month if not more, depending on how many massages you are giving the person and also the size of the person. I find that it is something that really does not need to be washed off after and you can go to sleep immediately without leaving any residue on the sheets. Clean up is easy as it absorbs into the skin. Should you get it on the sheets, just throw them in the wash and they won't get any stains on them.

I use this in my professional life as it has a relaxing scent and is light weight with a good glide. A little bit can go a long way with it so you won't need to keep going back for more constantly.

If your partner has sensitive skin test it on a small spot first. If they have any citrus allergies I would recommend not using this product because it has multiple citrus essential oils (neroli is a bitter orange).
    • Absorbs into skin nicely

Packaging

It comes in a nice simple bottle that has a easy to use top. When you first get it you will find that there is a little aluminum cover, like on Advil, over the top that you just have to peel off. Replace the cap and you are ready to use it. Early on you may find that the top will dribble a little bit after you have poured it into your hands, this is normal with any liquid that you are using this type of top with. Just wipe the bottle with a paper towel before you put it away. I have found that I can put the bottle in my purse and go without any fear of it spilling.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Travel friendly
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

Being a professional that gives massages for a living, I have had the chance to use a number of different oils and this is by far my favorite to use.
Follow-up commentary
After having to find a "real" job instead of being an independent contractor, I have come to love this oil even more then I did before. I appreciate the smoothness of the glide I get from this oil more then anything I have to use at work.

This stuff is amazing for massage, the scent doesn't bother sensitive sinuses either!

I use this on about 5 clients a day and have never had any complaints about the scent, no matter which one of them I use.

Great review! Can't argue against an oil that professionals use.

I really do need to give the Kama Sutra massage oils a try. Now if I could just choose between all those enticing-sounding scents you described . . .

Great job on the review! It was interesting and informative.

It all depends on what you are looking for from the massage. I personally use the Serenity or Healing Blend. I like the smell of the serenity better than the healing blend but as a pro I am doing a lot more in the way of "muscle work" on people. I have a tendency to fall asleep when i get my massage with the serenity.

Thanks for the professional opinion, and a great review! Just out of curiosity, if a client does have an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in the oil, what do you use instead?
  • Contributor: KatPawz2003
If someone reacts to one of the things in it the first thing is to have them go and wash off the area that has the oil. After that I switch over to a simple hemp seed oil or a light olive oil. The key thing to remember is that if you won't put it IN you body, you probably shouldnt put it ON your body.

Love the review. I need to get this.

Excellent review. To echo Antipova, the professional opinion was a bonus. I'm going to try Serenity, I love the woodsy smell and the sweet marjoram should help with my migraines.
