You Caught Me, I Double Dipped

This lip balm comes in a super cute and convenient tin that makes using it on the go really easy. The fact that the two flavors are separate is wonderful since you can use one or both when you apply it. It feels nice and light on your lips and the smell is amazing! You do need to reapply it often and the taste certainly doesn't match the smell, but if you're looking for something a little different, this is one to consider.

Use

Double Dipped from Not Soap Radio is a lip balm made from two complimenting flavors that rest side by side. Since the flavors are separate, you can choose to only use one at a time, or can blend them together. Being that it's a lip balm, it's obviously intended for use on the lips, but isn't meant to help heal chapped lips. This is designed more as a treat for your lips than something you use out of necessity.

This lip balm leaves a nice little shine and can be used with other unflavored, unscented lip products. You can easily use a moisturizing lip product and add this one to it as a way of adding some shine and an attractive scent. While lip balm of this nature is typically more of a feminine product, anyone can really use this since it doesn't color your lips and leaves an attractive scent in its place. The scents available are dessert style and would appeal to most people.

Getting smoochy with your partner may possibly happen as a result of using this product. The scent is divine and might draw them in, curious if you taste as good as you smell. The taste shouldn't turn your partner away from you, but could result in some unexpected playtime.

Nothing about this balm in general is intended for sexual uses. It's not an oral enhancer, isn't a lubricant of any type, and isn't meant to be used on any other area of the body. Additionally, it doesn't contain any pheromones and isn't aphrodisiac infused. Because it's not intended to be used as a sexual aid, this can be gifted and used by anyone; your kids, your niece, even grandma might enjoy this lip balm!

If you have sensitivities to certain ingredients, make sure you check out the list before ordering. If you're unsure about something, test a small area and see how your skin reacts. As with any product, if something causes irritation, stop using it.

Ingredients
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lauryl Laurate, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Beeswax, Copernicia Cerifera (Camauba) Wax, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Flavor, Mica

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Straight out of the tin, the balm feels very silky to the touch. It spreads over your lips easily and has no texture associated with it. After applying it with your finger tip, you can press and move your lips together to even it out. While the balm looks thick in the container, it feels very thin to the touch and on your lips. It's not a totally natural feeling, but it's much more comfortable than a lot of lip balms.

A little goes a long way, so start off small and apply as needed until you figure out how much you like to use. When you apply too much, it feels a little greasy. You want to make your lips rub smoothly together, but not have so much that it feels heavy.

When it comes to getting the balm out of the container, you'll need to use your finger and apply a small amount of pressure. Rubbing in a circular motion over one or both sides will also help keep the balm at an even level. If you press too hard into it, you'll create little holes and the balm will appear chunky in the tin and will be harder to get out even amounts.

Though the balm is thin, it's not thin like a lubricant. I won't run and it stays in place very well. As the balm fades (either from you licking it off or from it absorbing) it's very obvious since your lips won't feel as smooth and won't glide easily when you rub them together. This can easily be remedied by applying more.

Taste / Aroma

This balm is available in four different scents/flavors: Cherry Cordial, Black & White Cookie, Frozen Banana, and Fleur de Sel.

Fleur de Sel means "Flower of salt" in French. While something salty on your lips doesn't exactly sound appealing, what they aren't telling you is that the saltiness in this balm, is salted caramel. The salted caramel side is a light brown color in the tin and smells exactly like specialty caramels you'd get from a candy store. The scent is absolutely divine! The other half of the balm is milk chocolate and is a darker brown color. The milk chocolate scent reminds me of a chocolate/chocolate cake that's been covered in as much chocolate as physically possible (YUM!). What amazes me is that you can actually smell the difference between the sides.

The scent is quite obvious when you apply it to your own lips (seeing as they're directly below your nose), but someone standing near you might also be able to smell it. It's very decadent in nature and makes you wish there was a tiny spoon included with the balm so that you could randomly take little bites of it. Okay, I'll stop dreaming!

While the scent is amazing, the taste let me down. Though it does have a slight desserty taste to it, the overwhelming taste is that of lipstick. Nothing turns you off to the idea of eating the whole tin like that taste! I found that it was more obvious to me, but less obvious to the person kissing me. Both my children and my husband have kissed me while I was wearing this and they both commented on how good it taste, and they could tell it was chocolate. I'm not sure if I'm overly sensitive to the taste or not, but it didn't seem to bother those that got the lip balm on them second hand.

Performance

The balm preforms okay in general. Since it's not designed to moisturize your lips, it seems to fade much quicker than a Chapstick or similar product. It's fun to put on when you're looking for something that smells really good and adds a little shine, but it doesn't do much apart from that. The balm will last between 30 minutes and an hour depending on how much you've applied, how often you lick your lips, and other reasons. You need to reapply often if you want it feeling silky smooth, but the scent does linger for longer than the smooth feeling.

If you find that you don't care for the feeling or the scent/taste isn't pleasing to you, you can easily wipe it off with a wipe or washcloth. It will remove the feeling and most of the scent, but that will depend on how long it was on your lips in the first place.

Packaging

The packaging and tin for this balm is what drew me to the product in the first place. The box itself is super cute and instantly makes you want to buy it, either for yourself, or as a gift for someone. The front of the package has a circular hole in the front that's totally open and exposes the sticker on the front of your tin. It also shows the company name and has a good design on the background and around the hole. The back of the box gives you the most basic idea of what to expect from this balm, and has a cute design on it as well. The bottom of the back tells you how many ounces it contains and the company information.

This little box opens easily and the tin slides right out. There's no plastic on it and nothing to remove in order to open it. The front of the tin displays a little scene clearly designed to look like it's a French setting. You see the Eiffel Tower, a poodle, and a French bakery. The sticker has the flavor name at the top, the company name tucked into the image, and mentions that it's a lip balm and how much is inside the tin. The image is very attractive looking and looks like a water color painting.

The back of the tin is where all the important information is listed. It gives you another run down of the product, lists the ingredients, the company name, website, and information related to the design. The stickers on the front and back can both be peeled off if you choose, but it's not necessary since there's nothing offensive or suggestive on it.

The tin opens by pulling the lid off. It doesn't screw on, but it's fitted in a way that it's easy to remove when you're opening it, but doesn't easily come off. The container is nice and compact and works great in a purse or backpack. It's a little too large for a pocket, but would work for any type of bag or pouch.

When your balm is finished, cry for a moment, but then clean it out. You can easily use the container to hold smaller items in your purse (such as change, pain reliever, etc). If that doesn't appeal to you, you can use it for something else or toss it.

The balm makes a super cute addition to a gift basket for a friend, family member, or co-worker. Add in some lotion, bubble bath, and other pampering items for the perfect gift. This is a suitable product for any age and for any occasion.

Experience

Overall I'm pleased with the product, but am disappointed in some areas. The fact that this product smells amazing but doesn't taste great, is a huge letdown! I can get over that though, because the smell makes it all okay. The fact that you need to reapply often is another thing I'm not crazy about. I prefer using products that last a long period of time so I don't have to fuss over putting it on again and again. I do love the little container it comes in though, and appreciate the fact that the flavors are separated.

I like this balm for here and there, but it's not purse worthy for me and isn't something I use on a regular basis. Here and there it's great, but in general I use other lip products that last longer.

I love the packaging! I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff, but I wish the balm tasted great for both people. Would be nice for those hot and heavy sessions . Thanks for the particulars!

These are absolutely adorable! Thank you for sharing. It's a shame that the taste falls so short for you, but at least it smells good. I wonder if it would work as a tealight if you stuck a wick in it? Great review!
