You would never know it by looking at me, but I have a bad back. For this reason, I do not enjoy supporting my own body weight during sex. This has been a problem for a while, but we always made-do by hastily shoving pillows under me that are quickly smashed down or shift while in use. I love the idea of the Liberator products, but I also do not want my bedroom looking like it is full of tumbling equipment! I was pleasantly surprised to find the Liberator Heart Wedge. I was even more pleased with the actual product, which we now typically use unless we are after a quickie!

The wedge itself is smaller than it might seem on the website (18 inches at its widest point, 7 inches at its thickest point). The foam is very firm, even after a few months of use. It comes with a red/burgundy colored microfiber cover that zips shut with a large, durable zipper. I have washed it, and the cover did not bleed (I air dried it). Under the red cover is a fitted black nylon cover with the same style zipper. I suppose that if red does not work in your bedroom, a black heart could be seriously cool. The red matches my bedroom, which is one of the reasons I like it. It looks like a simple, shaped pillow at first. I usually keep it on my bed or on a shelf under my nightstand, but if it falls off the bed, the microfiber is a serious dust magnet.

Liberator provides an advertising booklet that does not include the heart shaped wedge, but just a wedge, and provides some ideas for incorporating it into your bedroom entertainment. Here are some of the ways I was able to use it:

Doggy-style: The wedge is ideal for this position. Just bend the person on the bottom over the thickest part of the pillow. Bonus: The indent on the top of the heart allows the person on the bottom to reach through his/her legs for self-stimulation.

Edge-of-bed, Propped: One partner can stand while the second partner is propped on the edge of the bed, providing oral satisfaction to the standing partner.

Edge-of-bed, bent over: Both partners have their feet on the ground. One is bent over the edge of the bed, with the ramp helping to elevate the bent partner to a more comfortable position.

Curbside Service: I find the ramp is helpful when I am pleasing my husband from the side (so that our bodies are perpendicular). The ramp takes all my weight while I lean over him, so I do not have to prop myself up.

Bondage: It can be used to support any number of positions, including simply raising the hips for easier access. This works well especially if the bottom is going to be bound for a while.

The heart shaped wedge is helpful for anyone who has a bad back, is a little too weak to hold certain positions, or for someone who wants to enjoy a position for an extended period of time. BDSM would probably fall into the final category, but none of the above are mutually exclusive in my case. The nature of the wedge implies that this is intended for couples. Although I tried nearly everything I could think of, the wedge didn't seem to lend itself to anything other than sex. It seems wide enough, at 18 inches, to be a "one-size-fits-most." I am a very small person, but I imagine that a plus-sized person might feel more at ease with the next largest Liberator wedge.
