Devine carry-on review

I would definitely recommend this case to anyone looking for a pretty, discrete way to hold and hide a few favorite toys. It's a great size for travel, pretty enough to leave on a dresser, with a water resistant lining.

The Devine Carry-On|Devine carry-on is the first case I ever bought specifically for my toys. And let me tell you, this little number truly is divine!

First of all, this bag is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures don’t do justice to the lovely color of the satin, and because the lace is floated over the satin, you get a pretty rippling effect between them. To top it off, the satin is wine red, one of my favorite colors.

When I first pulled out the case, I was worried about how small it seemed when folded flat, but it holds more than you’d think. I currently have a Hugs vibrator|Hugs vibe, a pair of vibrating eggs|Vibrating eggs and bullets with their controller, Smartballs|Smart balls - Vaginal balls, a few cock rings|Penis Rings (vibrating and not), a 4oz bottle of lube, a 4oz spray container of my favorite toy cleaner|Sex Toy Cleaners and Wipes, a handful of batteries and a few condoms tucked in there, and I could fit a few more small things in if I needed without worrying about being able to close it. The case comes with a hard divider to put inside to separate toys made of materials that don’t play nicely together, but I since I keep most of my toys in individual soft bags to begin with, for me it only cut down on how much space I had in there. It fits perfectly along the bottom, though, so you can use it to keep the bottom flat and level, which keeps it from falling over or rolling away in the heat of the moment.

This bag is great for travel, because it’s small enough to toss in a large purse or bag, but it’s pretty enough to be inconspicuous. I often leave it out on my dresser, because no one would suspect that it’s anything other than a pretty cosmetics or toiletries bag. (the fact that it goes with me to the bathroom when I shower has probably only reinforced this assumption) In fact, I’d be more worried about someone admiring how nice it is and picking it up to look at it and accidentally feeling the contents that I would about someone looking at it and knowing I had my vibrators in there!

When you travel with liquids, especially lubes, something WILL find a way to spill. Cleanup with the PVC lining is really easy: just wipe it down! Remember to leave the case open to air-dry after cleaning the lining so you don’t get mildew.

I would definitely recommend this case to anyone looking for a pretty, discrete way to hold and hide a few favorite toys. I only wish the Devine Carry-On came in more sizes, because I would buy the whole set!
Follow-up commentary
This case has held up very well over the past months. It has continued to clean up perfectly, and none of the seams nor the zipper has started to give, even after frequent over-stuffing of this loyal bag. The lining has never reacted with a single toy, and more than once I've accidentally left it out and had it mistaken for a pretty toiletry bag. I've never had an issue with mildew or anything else funky growing on the moisture-resistant lining, but I also let it dry open after I wash it.

My one issue with this case has been that there is no way to lock it. As a crafty person, my answer to this involved a needle and thread. I pulled out a large 0.5cm jump ring and sewed it to the seam snug against where the zipper pull sits when it is closed. Five minutes later, I had a place for a lock! I slip the lock through the ring of the zipper pull, then through the new ring, and I can lock the case closed. Now if only they would re-design the carry-on to have this functionality from the start.

Update: 2/25/2010
After almost two years of heavy abuse, this case has finally started to show her age. The lining has started to separate from the interior of the case. It's not clear whether the stitching died, or if the lining died around the stitching, but they have begun to part ways. Once the separation starts, it goes quickly: one week it was a centimeter-long gap, the next it was half the length of the case. I'd love to replace it, but this lovely model has been discontinued. If I could get a new one in this style, I would. It's been an amazing case for the price.

I was always curious about the quality. Thank you for the review.

This seems like a little clutch you'd carry around at the club.. you could carry a vibe, some lube, condoms and not much else. I suppose it serves a purpose of being small and discreet but also it's small size is a drawback as there's not much you can stash inside.

It fits more than you'd think. Currently, I've got a dual-action vibe, a large realistic vibe, a set of bullets with remote, my smartballs, 3 kinds of lube (a 4oz and two different 1oz), a mini wireless bullet, and a handful of batteries, and it still closes just fine. You definitely get more space if you remove the divider/bottom panel piece altogether. Yes, the bottom isn't as flat, but small price to pay for room for another vibrator, right?
