In The "Throes" Of Passion
This is a beautiful throw blanket that will catch and keep any wet messes that you want to keep off of your sheets and mattresses, while looking beautiful in the process.Published: June 28, 2011
Pros:
Water-proof, soft and silky, good quality
Cons:
Expensive
The Fascinator posh throe from Liberator is a soft, silky blanket for using when you don't want to get body fluids, lubes, oils or other liquids on your mattress and sheets. How many times have you had to get up after sex to change the sheets because of wet spots? I don't know about you but that isn't really something that I look forward to after having a night of phenomenal sex, I would much rather just roll over and go to sleep. This throw blanket allows you to do just that.
It is larger than what is listed on the product page. It is 54" in width and 71" in length. (4'6" x 5'10") Large enough to cover the surface of a queen or full size bed, or to use as a bed spread for a twin sized bed. It is also the perfect size to use just as a blanket laying on the couch watching television or reading your favorite erotic novel.
As with any Liberator product, construction of this blanket is of high quality. The seam which runs 3/8" around the border securing the 3 layers is very tightly and firmly stitched. So there is no need to worry about it fraying or coming apart. The layers are evenly laid so there is no bunching or bulges when you are laying on the blanket.
The materials that are used are listed as Plush (Microfiber) and Satin, on the tag on the blanket they are listed as front: 42% Nylon, 38% Polyester and 20% Cotton and the back: 100% Polyester. The "Plush" side is a Dark Violet color and is fuzzy to the touch, nice and soft to snuggle with and keeps the blanket from sliding around if you keep this side down during sex. The "Satin" side is a Dark Lavender color and is silky to the touch and very cooling against bare skin. If you use this side down it does slip a little if you get very active during lovemaking. In between there is a moisture proof barrier that keeps all fluids from leaking through to the other side.
The moisture barrier makes it possible for squirters' or anyone who is tired of having wet, oily, or gooey spots on your sheets or blankets to enjoy a fun-filled night without the hassle of a long clean-up or an uncomfortable night sleeping in wet spots. When you are done you can just pull this off the bed and throw it in the washing machine in the morning. Washing instructions are easy, Wash separately in cold water on the delicate cycle, and tumble dry on a low heat. On the first wash there was a little bleeding in the water so I would suggest only washing it with other dark items if you don't wash it alone. It came out of the dryer wrinkle free and still plush and fuzzy, no matting.
As far as the leak proof barrier, I poured water (about half of a cup) onto it and was able to cup it in the blanket and it stayed put until I dumped it off into the tub. I also squirted lube onto it and wiped it off before washing it. It left no stains and washed out nicely.
The only drawback that I can see is the fact that I have a 15 year old daughter whos' favorite color is purple and upon pulling it out of the dryer erupted in a shrill scream "OMG mom, if you loved me you would let me have that blanket." Which is why I mentioned above that it fits a twin sized bed as a bedspread. She is still trying to negotiate with me on doing chores so that she can have it. Now I am looking around the house for a chore list so that she can have one too.

If you don't have a throe...
-
If you're ever on vacation and don't pack your Liberator throe (aka throw), Dan Savage has great advice for what to do with the hotel linens when you're done: Bleach Party
(nerd) -
Wow, that's really good advice! I'm glad you posted that, because that is something I have wondered about myself! :)

I'm glad you posted that, because that is something I have wondered about myself! :)It's a great article, had to share. :D I'm cracking up though because I've always balled up the sheets and left them on the floor when I leave the room, even when there was no sex, i.e. I was sharing a room with a family member other than my husband. I can only imagine what the cleaning staff thought. (scared)

Throes how do these work?
-
Okay I have read the review and information given but I'm still confused about these whats the big deal exactly?
-
An easy to transport waterproof blanket is always a nice thing. For some it's not a necessity and is overrated, but it can change the lives of others.
-
If you aren't a female ejaculator, it might not be such a big deal for you. But for those of us who occasionally (or regularly) soak through blankets, comforters, etc... this thing is a life saver, just as Sam said. I don't know that everyone would need it, but I think it's fantastic! :)

Sex Throws-Difference?
-
Ok, So I have seen three different throws on EF. One is the Fascinator, The Liberator and the Safari throw. What is the difference between them? Other than the patterns obviously. The differences between the purple ones (liberator and fascinator) is what Im really wondering. They look the same to me?

Do you think the price of the Fascinator throe is worth it?
-
I really love the red one but it's expensive... Just wondering if the size you get is worth the price?
-
We just got ours and I'd have to say yes. Alan & I have paid almost that much for "normal" comforters for our bed, and they've not been as warm as the Fascinator, nor water resistant.
-
For me it's not worth it yet... But that's because I don't really get messy with sex. Maybe when I have a place and can have sex anywhere, or when I live with my guy and we have more time to experiment...
I think for it's features it's definitely worth the price. And I've heard good things about the size I think, or at least never BAD things.

Can the Liberator throe withstand oils?
-
I want the throe, but mainly so we can play with oils (oiled sex anyone?) and not have to worry about staining the bed. But will it stain the throe? I want to keep it pretty!
-
I'd love to know, too!
-
I emailed Liberator customer service. We'll see what they say!
