I was excited about my purchase of the Liberator Wedge because I'd never used anything that could qualify as "sex furniture". What exactly IS sex furniture? It's a vague term, but it's used to describe pretty much anything that's designed for you to have sex on/in/strapped to/hanging from. The Wedge seemed like a simple and sexy way to enter into the world of "sex furniture".

The Liberator Wedge is very simply designed sex aid that has a variety of possible uses. It comes with a small booklet that provides several examples of positions that the Wedge can be used for. Most of them are basically variations on either missionary with an elevated hip, or doggy-style bent over the Wedge. It can also be used for foreplay very effectively. Elevating the woman's hips provides much easier access for both oral and manual stimulation.

The Wedge isn't that large in comparison to most sex furniture, but I was still surprised by its size. I feel like anytime I order something, even if I've looked at the dimensions, I'm always surprised by how big/small it is. I never receive something and go, "Wow! This is the exact size I thought it was going to be!" Anyhow, the Liberator Wedge was definitely much wider than I expected. It's 24" wide, 14" long, and 7" tall. The wedge itself is made out of a type of foam, and it has a microfiber cover that has a wonderful velvety texture. The foam is very sturdy. It's got enough give to be comfortable to lie on, but firm enough so that it doesn't sag under the weight of my hips or even our combined weight. The cover is very soft and doesn't irritate the skin at all. It's well made and seems very sturdy. It comes in a plastic zip up bag that has handles for easy carrying. It's great for storage, although usually mine is just resting on the side of my bed amongst my pillows.

The wedge is incredibly versatile, and very easy to use. While it comes with suggestions for positions, the positions are almost instinctual. The wedge just fits the body so well that it feels very natural to use it. The first position we tried was missionary with the wedge elevating my hips. The wedge really enhances this position for both parties. It provided more direct G-spot stimulation, and since my hips were tilted up a little bit, it gave my partner easier access to my clitoris. The elevation also made penetration very comfortable for him. The wedge also made a huge difference for both of us during foreplay. It make oral sex tremendously easier for the guy, since he now doesn't have to be awkwardly scrunched between your legs on the bed. With the elevated hips, he can lie comfortably and even lean on the wedge himself.

The other position that we use the wedge for is doggy-style. This, however, really only effects me in this position. For me, it's very comfortable to lay over it during penetration, and the angle that the wedge provides gives easy access for your partner. He said he didn't notice as much of a difference in this position, but that's understandable. The biggest difference was being able to relax in a doggy-style position, as opposed to holding yourself up. Being able to just lay over it let me focus on the sensation more and freed up my hands for... other things. ;) Also one thing to note: Doggy-style over the wedge does sort of limit your access to your clit/his balls if you like doing that during sex from behind. Since your laying on wedge, the window that your legs create is blocked by the wedge itself.

The Liberator Wedge is very easy to clean. For small spills/wet spots, I use just a wet rag and basically just spot clean. Washing it is just as easy though. The microfiber cover just zips off and can be machine washed! (They recommend washing it cold and air drying). To be honest though, if I'm expecting it to be a messy night, I just throw a towel over it.

So, $85 for a piece of foam? Is it worth it? I had some qualms about spending this much money on a foam wedge. After making the purchase, I have some mixed thoughts on the topic. First off, the wedge is amazing. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and it really does add some spice to some tired positions. I especially enjoy it for foreplay. It's really comfortable, easy to use, and well made. Is it worth $85 though? I'm not sure. I'm definitely glad that I own it, but when I think about the price, I'm still a little surprised. So, bottom line is, if you've got extra cash lying around, go for it. It's great. If you're a little strapped for spending money, it's just a foam wedge. Use some pillows. Perhaps my opinion on this will change as time goes by and the wedge is still a front runner in my sex toy collection, but for now, $85 still ruffles my feathers!
