The Croco Box Rocks!
I think the Devine toy boxes are definitely worth it if you can get a nice deal or something on them. There are other locked boxes out there that aren't specifically for sex toys that are cheaper but they definitely aren't as pretty as this one! I'm very happy with mine and if I end up needing another one I'll most likely get another so I can have a matching set. If your toy collection is small-to-average in quantity or consists of mostly smaller toys, this box will be perfect for your needs.Published: February 19, 2012
Pros:
- Very classy appearance.
- Holds quite a bit of stuff for its size.
- Won't take up much room.

Cons:
- Could be taller!
- Flimsy lock and tiny keys.

The Devine Toy Box is a small box meant to store sex toys and anything else you want to keep people out of. It's great for roommate situations, traveling if you have the room in your luggage, moving, and also just as a decorative storage solution because it looks just as great as it is useful.
I'm going to be perfectly honest, when I opened up the package and looked at this box my first thought other than "Oh, it's so pretty!" was "Wow, that's really small." It holds more than it looks though!
Other reviewers have measured it and said that it's about 9 and 1/4" long, 4 and 1/2" in internal width, and it has 4 and 1/2" of internal, usable height. I took a ruler to the box myself and these measurements are pretty accurate. This box is a little smaller than most shoe boxes I've had. I've got a small collection of toys that aren't very long or thick so this wasn't a problem. I would have liked there to be more usable height so that I could store larger bottles of lube upright with no worries about spilling.
The box is definitely gorgeous though. The red, "croco" faux leather is just such a wonderful, deep color that matches a vintage chair I have in my room really well. It looks very striking with the black sides and interior. The box has a fairly sturdy feel to it. I don't think it would collapse inwards if I stacked a few things on top of it, for example. Not that I would want to hide that lovely top! The stitching appears to be of good quality on the lid, I can't see glue or anything elsewhere, and the black satin lining looks good as well.
The pictures make the box look more bright and pink than it does in real life but you can see the lovely texture of the vinyl:
The box came in a basic plastic bag. I opened it up and noticed the nice tag attached to the ribbon that keeps the lid from being left open:
I also noticed what appeared to be two packets of silica gel. Well, I'm really glad I didn't throw them away immediately. Why? It turns out that this little bundle here is the lock and keys:
I freaked out thinking I had either somehow not gotten a lock and keys or I misread the product information and it didn't actually come with any! I checked this site and the reviews, then realized that what I thought was an unlabeled silica gel packet was actually the lock and keys wrapped in tissue paper.
I really think the company should figure out a better way to include them because the size and shape made me think it was garbage, not anything important. Even a little sticker saying "lock and keys" on the packet would do.
The keys are very small and, in my opinion, kind of cute though they are flimsy. I thought about sending one to my partner as a symbolic gesture but realized that since they keys are small I will probably end up losing one so I should keep them both around! The lock is pretty basic and not that wonderful either. Basically, the set of lock and keys is like what you might find on a locking diary or something. It could probably be picked open with a bobby pin or something easily. If you really can't have someone looking in your box, get a better lock for sure. For my purposes though, this lock is fine and I probably won't actually be locking it much anyway.
Instead, I will keep it shut by folding the metal piece flat against the lid which keeps it pretty safe and secure without being locked.

The lid on the box is nice and sturdy but is too heavy to stay up on its own which is a little annoying. It's attached to the rest of the box by a black satin ribbon.

Experience
Anyway, on to the storage aspect! I was able to fit basically everything I have reviewed on this site so far and more except the Bedroom Kandi exercise balls and Spur because I prefer to keep them in their original packaging. So what I have in there now are two average sized insertable toys, a vibrator on the small side in thickness but of rather average length, a bullet vibe, and a harness. I also put in two packets of cleaning wipes, a bag of batteries, and a bottle of lube turned on its side in a plastic bag. Other people who reviewed this item got a lot more in theirs and I think I could do the same if I really needed to.
For now, I'm really happy with this toy box and I know I'll continue to use it even if I end up moving my collection to a larger box later on.
I would give the Devine toy box five stars if it came with a stronger lock and the lid could stay up on its own. I know that fact was a plus for some people but I would like to be able to keep it up while I'm, say, organizing my toys. I also would've liked pockets in the lining perhaps but the box isn't really big enough to make that a good idea anyway. Oh well. It's still an excellent product.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I still love this box! I keep even more stuff in it now than when I reviewed it and still have a bit of room left. I haven't had any damage from spilt lube or accident roughness. It looks just as good as when I bought it. It hasn't been this long so I'm not that surprised but, still. It's a great-looking storage option that is holding up well and I'm still very pleased with myself for buying it. When the larger Devine toy chest finally gets made again, I have every intention of buying one of those too because this brand makes seriously nice quality stuff if my toy box is any indicator.

Silver croco toy box?
-
I feel like I've been waiting forever for this to come in stock. Has anyone got one? I'm thinking maybe it came into stock and they all got snapped up before I even noticed? For some reason the alerts aren't allowing me to set one for re-stock. My heart is full of sadness, for my butt plugs are without a silver crocodile skin patterned box to hide in :(

I'd submit a support ticket and see if they can give you an idea about whether or not it'll be coming back in stock anytime soon. Support tickets are always a good idea when you're wondering about, well, pretty much anything that a staff member could answer. In the meantime, I suppose you could always just get the black and red version?

I'm asking members if anyone actually got one. If they were stocked at one point, I assume they'll be restocked and I'll wait. DevineToys are usually really on top of re-stocking for items that are being carried.
I have almost all of the Devine Toy Boxes except that red and black, though, I think it's very ugly! (To me it is; taste is a subjective thing, obviously.)

general question about the toy box
-
The question I have and I understand that the box both locks and comes with a lock. I have a family full of busy bodies (snoops), they just drop on bye, Is there anyway to see what is in the box when its closed and locked? I did read the info and the reviews and I could not see where that was mentioned that it was snoop proof if locked.

If you have some real snoops, I'd get a stronger box (a real lock box).

Thank you for viewing Devine toy box croco – storage container review page!

Great review! I've been wanting to get one of these when I save up the points for it. The lock and key and not very practically packaged!
Lovely review! Glad you figured out that the little packet was the lock and key!
great review, thanks for sharing. $45 for fake leather seems pretty high to me though.
Great review!
Wow, that does hold a lot more than I thought it would! Thanks for the pictures, they were really helpful. Guess I'll need a new lock for this if I were to get it.
