Use

The Liberator Safari throe is just like a blanket you can spread out anywhere you plan on having some fun, and not having to worry about getting those areas messy. It will protect your bed and other furniture from any possible spills or stains. Things such as lotions, syrup, body paints, massage oils, wax, lubes, blood, semen, water, and your natural juices. Whatever you throw on it, this throe has you covered, pun intended. Plus, they can double up as blankets, and no one would be the wiser.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material

The throe has three layers. One side is the violet shag which is basically a faux fur material. This side is so soft, and is just a pleasure to touch. The other side is a lighter purple satin which feels very silky. In between these layers is a waterproof barrier which makes the crinkly noises.

I have a twin bed and the throe completely covers it. It is 71 inches long, with a width of 54 inches, which is almost 6 feet by 4.5 feet. The corners are nicely rounded, and all the edges are stitched very well. It will comfortably hold two people, and possibly three if you are more adventurous than I am.

Performance

I prefer to lay on the flush side, but this makes the throe slide around anything that it is placed on because the satin side is very slippery. I can be pretty messy when dispensing lubes, so this throe is definitely a saviour. I don’t squirt or gush, but other reviews state this throe can handle that also. I notice that larger spills tend to pool before soaking in, but they won’t leak through at all.

You can easily bring this throe on the go with you. It folds up nicely, and is very light weight.

Packaging

The throe comes all nicely folded in a simple plastic pouch like you would get with any other linen set. You can use the pouch for storage, or you can keep the throe wherever is convenient for you. I keep mine at the foot of my bed. You will also get a booklet showing Liberator’s other products, and how you can use them.

Care and Maintenance

Each time you wash it, it becomes less crinkly. You can wash the throe in the washing machine on cold with a gentle cycle. You can also put it in the drier on low, heat could damage it. Treat it as you would any dark colors. No bleech. When that is done, the throe becomes extremely soft, and I just want to surround myself with the fuzzy glory and use it all over again.

Personal comments

I have the Safari throe which is similar to this throe, but there are some notable differences. The Shag throe is a lot more plush, but a lot thinner. You can hear the crinkling more with the Shag throe. I slide around a lot more on the Shag throe, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on what you are looking for. If stability is what you are after, the Safari throe is better. Essentially what I’m saying is if you move around a lot, you’ll need a bit more stability and the Safari offers that. They are both exactly the same size, just the Safari is a bit thicker. The Shag is a bit lighter in weight, so if you plan on travelling with it a fair bit, that may be an advantage for you.

Experience

The price of the Shag may be a bit off-putting, but trust me, it’s worth it. It is so much easier then using multiple towels and cloths when all you want to do is just get on with it. I enjoy the fact that I can just throw it in the hamper when I’m done, and don’t need to deal with any wet areas or stains afterwards. It only comes in one size (measurements mentioned above), but it provides enough room for couples to do what couples do.

I'd hate for someone to grab this has a blanket/throw and then go "why is it noisy??" LOL
good to know the crinkly diminishes with washings.

Yeah, that would be a little hard to explain. You could always just say it's the material without having to say that it's leak resistent.

Nice review, I found the comparison between the Safari and Shag very helpful!

thanks for the review! It still seems very expensive when you take into consideration that it's a blanket for sex, my bf and I can make a little mess but I just wash my sheets often! I spent $70 on a twin/queen sized thick "shag" blanket this summer for my new bedding but it's purpose is to keep me warm and it matches my bedding, I just don't know what to think about it :/
