Wet body glide - lubricant discontinued by Wet Lubricants - review by Hallmar82

The first thing that drew my eye to Wet body glide lube was the flavor, blueberry. Wet is one of those tried and true companies that's been around for a while now. Most of their products are fairly well known, and I had already tried a number of Wet products before (Platinum, warming, etc). So, I knew that this product would be of a reasonably good quality at a reasonable price...and it was. Wet body glide blueberry is a water-based lube that won't last as long as their silicon-based lube, Platinum, nor higher quality water-based lubes like Maximus which is a little thicker too. So, because it's not as thick or long-lasting, we have only used this lube for non-anal play. However, it's still a good lube that will last 5 - 10 minutes during play. Then, you'll probably need another application to keep things lubricated. Otherwise, things will start to get sticky as it dries out. The overall performance, though, wasn't what caught my eye; it was the flavor.

I love blueberries; it's my favorite berry. I see a lot of unflavored lubes and even if they are, they're usually cherry or chocolate or chocolate covered cherries. Wet, to it's credit, has really pushed the envelope coming out with a good variety of flavors to keep their customers satisfied (ID too). So, when I saw blueberry, I immediately bought it for that reason. The downside to all of these flavors is that EdenFantasys and other places tend to have a slow turn around time restocking the flavors when they run out. However, if you can get one, I highly recommend it. The flavor is a little too sweet for my taste. Obviously, Wet cannot use real blueberries with real sugar (sugar = yeast infection!). So, they add a little too much artificial sugar (aspartame) to mask the slight chemical aftertaste. So, Wet chose the lesser of two evils: too sweet or bitter chemical aftertaste. I haven't tasted all of the other flavors, but I imagine there is a similar trend. Speaking of which, if you have trouble with aspartame, you may not want to ingest too much of it and just use it as you would a non-flavored lube. The smell of it is still pretty pleasant though not as strong aromatically as I would like. But then, I could just as easily light a scented candle if I really wanted to go that far. It's just a nice bonus in my opinion. Likewise, it does contain parabens as well. Some women report a slight burning sensation from parabens while others do not. If you are one of those women who begin to feel irritated, stop using it immediately. There are a variety of other water-based lubes that do not contain parabens that you can use, such as Wet Natural.

In addition to the other details, the lube, because it is water-based, tends to wash out of lingerie clothes and bedsheets without too much trouble. I have noticed a little discoloration on some very thin, bright colored lingerie. However, I didn't do a scientific study to separate out the lube from other things. Plus, you will get flakes and a white-grey residue as it dries out on your things as well. However, most of it washes away quite easily. Speaking of which, this lube will last all of 2 seconds in the shower. Playing around in the shower or hot tub sounds like a great idea, but not with this lube. Buy a high quality silicone-based lube for any aqueous activities.

As far as I know, this is the only blueberry flavored lube out there. As someone who loves blueberries, I couldn't resist. This lube is made by Wet, a well-known and trusted company that makes reasonably good products at reasonably good prices. I've certainly enjoyed using this lube for it's aromatic and flavorful characteristics, especially as a way to keep things different and interesting when you might not otherwise be so motivated. Overall, I enjoyed the performance of Wet body glide for many of my bedroom activities - especially those which are orally fixated.

I still love my Blueberry lube and use it regularly. I emailed Wet to ask if they would be introducing sucralose to replace aspartame. However, they did not reply (yet). If so, then I would love to see if that takes care of the slightly too sweet taste and help those who have trouble with aspartame.
