A great product, water based but silky indeed
Try it; you will like it. The best part is how slick and creamy it feels, in my opinion one of the best water based lubes about tied with water based Wet.Published: March 16, 2010
Pros:
Dries with out tackiness, great dispenser.
Cons:
Like all water based lubes, it eventually dries.
Liquid silk is a odorless (I noted some other reviewers didn't like the smell), water based lubricant that is safe with condoms, and silicone toys. It comes in the always convenient pump dispenser so you don't have to fumble around with a lubed up bottle. The nozzle re-locks, excellent for road trips, or storing the bottle on its side without fear of it spilling all over the place.
Liquid Silk has a creamy white appearance and while all water based lubricants suffer from dry-out, I feel this one keeps its viscosity better than Astroglide or K-Y Jelly. It's priced competitively and you don't have to feel bad about using copious amounts (both from a cost and cleanup perspective). In addition while many lubricants provide a slippery feeling, Liquid Silk provides a slippery feeling that more resembles my partner's "natural" lubricant. It can be better described as an almost creamy/slippery sensation.
Another upside is that clean up is a snap, just dry off. With a lot of other products I found it was best to rinse off so I wouldn't have that tacky residue. That's not the case with Liquid Silk, there's little to no residue after you towel off. As for the taste, well they make flavored products for that, so I would recommend using activity specific lubes. It's unfair to judge a product that doesn't imply oral uses.
I have found this product is suitable for masturbation, mutual masturbation, anal and vaginal sex. However, you may have to reapply if the session is prolonged. Its wonderful coefficient of friction(slipperiness)makes it ideal for most uses. However it didn't work well for a massage.
I have noticed that you won't find it in the major drug store chains, so you're going to have to mail order and wait, but I feel it's worth the wait. I would suggest buying 2!

Our new fav is Wet Platinum, it's silicone based, so maybe it's not fair but Im done with water based lubes, to hell with sensitive toys.

i get the impression that this is crap......

Liquid Silk's not a bad lube, but "crap" or "awesome" depends a lot on what you want out of your lube. Like, do you want one for anal play or vaginal? For shower play? Are you a stickler for healthy ingredients?

It wasn't bad, but Alan and Michele have a point. What are you trying to get out of the lube?

Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
-
So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.
However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?
Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else? -
That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.
Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.
Anyone else know about this? -
I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(

Thank you for viewing Liquid silk – lubricant review page!

I also have had this react with a silicone toy that it was in contact with for an extended period of time, and I regret that and wish this did not happen..but this product is still fun and better than many brands on the market lately.
Have you tried this product with silicone toys? Like ThePinkPoppet says, silicone toys may not actually be compatible with this lube. It's still a good lube, though
I'm lucky a nearby sex store sells this kind, but EF still has the best price!
we have used this lube with silicone toys, but it wasn't for an extended period, but overall we treat out toys poorly, we use incompatible lubes, etc. We have only had a couple of instances of materiel degradation, and they were cheap toys that were old. Dumb luck to be sure.
Thanks for the review
Nice review, thanks!
Liquid silk is actually a hybrid lube; water and silicone based.
Carrie is right, its a hybrid , not purely water-based
