Aloe Cadabra! Magic Lubrication

This all-natural lubricant is safe to ingest and thus completely safe to use internally. Though it does not last as long as other lubricants, it leaves the skin feeling fresh. This lubricant is compatible with all toy types (including silicone and latex) and thus should be a stable in every toybox.

Use

Aloe Cadabra is a natural, plant-based lubricant, made out of 95-97% organic Aloe Vera gel. It functions well as a lubricant but can also be used as a lotion or hand cream as well. Many lubricants have Aloe Vera as an ingredient in them to help smooth the skin, but this is the only one that I have encountered that consists almost entirely of organic Aloe Vera. If you have excess, you can always rub it into your skin to make it feel softer.

Recommended Use
This product is great for both intercourse and solo play, though it might not last as long as other lubricants. However, because it is made of all natural and food grade ingredients, you do not have to worry about what you are putting inside of your body. After all, if you are a woman, your vagina will absorb everything anyway, so why would you want to put something in there that you would not want to put inside your mouth?

Aloe Cadabra is not runny and can last a fair amount of time before being entirely absorbed. This might not be your lubricant of choice if you have very long sessions of masturbation or intercourse since it does absorb into skin with time, but for my half hour or so length sessions it has always been sufficient, at least until my natural moisture took over. I have read that it can turn sticky, but have not encountered this yet. There is no mess from using it, since most of the lubricant will be absorbed into your skin and the rest is easy to get off with a wet cloth.

Aloe Cadabra might not be thick enough for anal use. If you insist, though, be sure to use a lube inserting device.

I normally use a small dab of lubricant on my toys, no larger than a dime. It will stay in place until rubbed, so you can easily put it wherever you want it with little waste. Because your experience might vary from mine, you should try different amounts until you find what works for you, but be sure to start small. Sadly, the bottle is only 2.5 fl oz, so it might not last for too long, but at least it is TSA carry-on sized!

Ingredients
95% Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Vitamin E Oil, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate (food grade), Sodium Benzoate (food grade), Organic Vanilla Essential Oil

The company's website claims that Aloe Cadabra is actually made from 95-97% organic Aloe Vera gel rather than 95, but that is not much of a difference. Some of the other ingredients are put into the lubricant to help make its pH as close to the vagina's natural pH as possible. The following are the other ingredients and information about them:

Vitamin E Oil is great for your skin and leaves it feeling even softer. It is perfectly safe.

Xanthan gum is a natural food additive that helps make things thick and keep ingredients from separating. Some people do have allergies to it, but as a common food product you will probably be aware of them if you do. There are links between Xanthan gum and health concerns in premature infants, but it appears to be safe for everybody else.

Citric acid is a common and natural ingredient. My assumption is that its purpose in Aloe Cadabra is to modify the pH, but it is also known to soften ingredients.

Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate are both food preservatives to help keep your Aloe Cadabra fresh. Because this lubricant's main component is a natural gel, they are required to keep it from going bad from all of the microorganisms that would gladly feast on it given the opportunity. Both of these are food-grade and are safe to be consumed.

Vanilla Essential Oil is natural and often used in aromatherapy as comforting and relaxing oil. It is probably there for the smell, but I could not smell it.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Aloe Cadabra is not as thick or as slimy as other lubricants, instead feeling sort of like a lotion would. It does not get sticky or flaky with use, and instead absorbs into skin like a lotion would. If you have ever used Aloe Vera gel, this lubricant feels almost identical to that, as much of it is Aloe Vera gel. For those that have not, I would compare the consistency to lotion.

The lubricant is not runny in the slightest. To demonstrate this, I squeezed a small amount (the same amount I would use on a glass toy, as a matter of fact) onto my finger and took a picture. As you can see above, it even kept the same shape as it was originally squeezed out as. I then put this small amount of lubricant on my Amber Wave (since it is the cutest toy I have to model on), but meanwhile happened to misplace my phone and ended up looking for it for several minutes. When I finally found it and took the picture, it still had not run. However, when you do rub it onto where you would like it, it is easy to rub rather than jelly or gel like. In use, it feels thinner than it appears. It is a relief to not have it running all over the place, though!

Internally, it felt very natural. I could not tell when the effect of the lubricant ended and my natural moisture took over, so I was very satisfied. It did not feel sticky, greasy, or oily, for which I was thankful. Supposedly, you can reactivate it with water, but I have not yet tried this.

Aloe Cadabra comes in a squeeze bottle. It does take quite a squeeze to get it out, but it is still easy to use.

Taste / Aroma

Unlike other reviewers, I did not find Aloe Cadabra's smell unfavorable. Granted, it does not smell like roses, but neither does it smell like chemicals or perfume. I felt that it had a soapy Aloe-like smell to it, which is understandable since it is made out of Aloe Vera gel. Having used 100% Aloe Vera gel on my skin for years due to its healing properties, I am used to this smell and it does not bother me; to the contrary, I thought that it smelled nice.

Because this lubricant is harmless when swallowed, I had nothing against tasting it. I would not call the taste pleasant, but neither was it strong or very unpleasant. It tasted like some undefined vegetable, slightly bitter, but not very. Aloe Cadabra does have flavored versions if you are interested in a better smell or taste. They include Peppermint Tingle, French Lavender, Pina Colada, and Tahitian Vanilla. Because I am not interested in using this lubricant for oral sex and don't mind the natural Aloe smell, though, I will continue buying the original type.

Performance

This is not the longest lasting lubricant on the market, but when a lubricant only uses natural ingredients it is hard to be as long lasting as those that do not. I find that it lasts me around 20-30 minutes, more if I mix in a drop or two of coconut oil. It will not last as long if you are using it for intercourse or any type of skin on skin contact, and will probably last less if you are a fan of thrusting. I do have a fair amount of natural moisture, though, which probably allows it to last longer inside of me. If you are very dry and still want an organic lubricant, coconut oil might work better for you.

However, because of how easily it absorbs into skin, there is no messy clean up. I like to masturbate with internal toys before falling asleep, and thus don't like to have to get up and clean my toys. I find that Aloe Cadabra washes off of toys perfectly well and quickly on the following morning and absorbs into my skin nicely, which allows me to fall asleep after using it. Of course, I wipe my toys down after using them to get off any gunk, but since most of my toys are glass I feel relatively comfortable leaving actual washing until the morning. Aloe Cadabra is easy to wash from high quality silicone and ABS plastic as well, but I cannot speak about other materials from experience since I do not have them.

Aloe Cadabra is safe to use with all materials, including silicone and latex. I find that it lasts longest on glass, as glass is entirely nonporous and smooth, and lasts slightly less time on silicone and plastic.

Packaging

Front

I really adore the packaging on this toy. It comes in a plain while box with the brand name, 95% Aloe Vera Gel, and "Personal Lubricant" on it, but once this box is thrown away there is no mention of 'lubricant' or 'sex' on the actual container. The container simply says 'Aloe Cadabra, Natural Aloe', which is easily mistaken for just a regular Aloe Vera gel that you might use on your skin. Thankfully, there are no naked people on it, so it is classy enough even to be given as a gift.

The container, as mentioned before, is a bit difficult to squeeze due to the thickness of the gel, but is otherwise not leaky and without flaws. Sadly I find one-handed operation cumbersome at best, but this is not enough to make me like the lubricant any less.

At 2.5 fl oz, you can take it with you in a carry on bag onto an airplane, if you are like me and can travel for a month with just a carry on suitcase. The TSA will have no reason to suspect that this is a lubricant, and if asked you can tell them that it is a hand cream since it very well could be.

Special Features

I really have to stress again how incredible the ingredients in Aloe Cadabra are. I adore using a lubricant that I know is perfectly safe to ingest and has only the top quality of ingredients. If you are looking for a natural lubricant that is not coconut oil, this is the place to go. Furthermore, Aloe Vera gel has been used for centuries for its healing properties and can do wonders on sensitive skin, so I can only imagine the subtle benefits my vaginal walls get from it.

Personal comments

I really wish that EF carried this lubricant. I would constantly buy it here rather than looking through countless stores or buying it from other online places.

A friend told me about Aloe Cadabra when I expressed concerns about using coconut oil as a lubricant because of the smell (I really dislike the smell of coconuts), and so I decided to give it a try. After reading poor reviews for it, I was not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It did not turn sticky on me, nor did it dry out as quickly as others claim it did. Granted, I have a decent amount of natural moisture, but this lubricant did provide enough lubrication until my natural moisture could take over.

If Aloe Cadabra was cheaper, it would replace coconut oil as my default lubricant. However, as it costs $7-12 for only 2.5 ounces (which do last some time, mind you, since very little is needed), I keep it for playing at times when I don't feel like smelling like coconut or don't feel like washing off the coconut smell.

I would and have recommended it to others without hesitation.

Experience

I have heard a lot of bad things about Aloe Cadabra, but it worked perfectly well for me. It really is worth a try if you are interested in the ingredients or want to stay natural, but if slickness is your thing there are other lubricants on the market. This lubricant is perfect for me and provides just the right amount of moisture, but everybody's experiences will be different.
Follow-up commentary
Despite having tired several other lubricants from popular brands since writing this review, Aloe Cadabra is still my go-to lubricant. I get peace of mind knowing that all of the ingredients are safe and love the consistency. I still recommend this lubricant to everyone to try.

Terrific review! I love this stuff and it's the only water-based lube I can use with no reaction to whatsoever. Furthermore, I love the feel of it and I, too, do not find any real smell to it. I also really wish Eden carried it, darn it. It looks like the initial reviews were poor and I was surprised to see that. I'm going to have to try adding some coconut oil to it, thanks for the idea!

Thank you! It's amazing stuff; I'm so happy that you recommended it. The reviews almost everywhere that I read them were poor, so I had low expectations but really love this stuff now! I wish more people could try it. I mean, it's not silicone-based lubricant, but when you consider the ingredients it's incredible. It's really my go to lubricant.
