An Item Not to Skimp On...

This is an excellent water-based lube. Let me convince you not to let the price put you off! Pjur Aqua has become my go-to lube and occupies pride of place on my bedside table.

Lube is one of those items, like the dentist and appliance repairs, where handing over hard earned dollars can make you feel a bit grumpy and put out. Forty dollars for a bottle of lube sounds like a lot, to be sure, but as anyone who has used cheap or bad lube will tell you, it pays for itself ten fold. I started using a cheaper water-based lube, and I found I was constantly getting a recurring case of thrush (likely a reaction to some ingredients in the lube, I was told by a nurse) and irritation after sex. Not to mention, the cheaper lube was sticky and left a residue after sex.

Pjur lube overcomes the drawbacks of cheaper lube...if you can get past the price tag. Although it does contain glycerine, I haven't had the reactions I've had to cheap lubes, but if you are particularly sensitive, then another option like Sliquid might serve you better. Pjur also stays slick for a long time - I've only had to reapply it after 20 minutes or more of sex, and it doesn't get the stickiness I've unfortunately come to associate with cheap lubes. A little goes a long way as well - something about the formulation of Pjur seems to mean I don't use quite as much, so a smallish bottle has lasted a lot longer than I expected. Additionally, because this lube is water-based, it's safe for use with all of your toys - silicone, glass, or steel - and is condom safe.

I've also used Pjur Aqua anally and found it to be excellent for that as well. They also make silicone lubes that I've also tried and liked that are specifically for anal use. Plus, as I've mentioned, Pjur dries but doesn't get sticky, so I don't spend an hour or two after sex feeling like my thighs are glued together. One of the few places I wouldn't recommend using Pjur is in the bath or shower - being water-based, it'll wash right off (although obviously this is a good thing when it comes to cleaning off your toys).
