Aqua review
Aqua is one lube I recommend skipping. I really cannot think of a situation where another lube would not perform better, and at a less-expensive price!Published: April 28, 2008
Pros:
Thick liquid is easy to apply
Cons:
Inadequate lubrication, does not last long at all, sticky, expensive
Pjur Aqua Lube is thicker than I had expected it to be, probably because of its name. It is not quite a gel, it is definitely still a liquid lube; however, the liquid is fairly thick and stays where you put it pretty well without becoming a runny mess—always a nice quality in a liquid lube, in my opinion.
That, however, is where the pleasant surprises ended. Aqua is colorless and odorless, and has that slightly sweet flavor common to many water-based lubes. This, unfortunately, is followed by a quite bitter aftertaste my partner and I both found extremely unpleasant.
I suppose it is slippery enough to reduce some friction, and it was adequate for unprotected intercourse. When used with a condom or with a toy, however, Aqua just did not perform well at all in the lubrication department. It did not last long at all, and I had to reapply it so frequently it became an annoyance. The lube also tends to get very sticky with use, and I soon found myself quite uncomfortably sticky in all the wrong places.
The lube does wash off toys easily enough, but requires soap and water to get the sticky feeling completely off the skin. I am really surprised at just HOW sticky this stuff gets—at times, I felt like I was coated in thin maple syrup or something. Ick.
I just do not have a lot of positive things to say about Aqua, other than it is easy to apply and did not cause me any skin irritation. It is sticky, does not provide adequate lubrication, and does not last long at all. Its taste is unpleasant, and it is more difficult to clean up than most water-based lubes I have tried. It is also extremely expensive for a water-based lube! I am all for trying new things, but Aqua Lube is one lubricant I really would not recommend for any situation I can think of. There are many better lubes out there.

Definitely one of the most disappointing lubes I've ever tried, especially from a company like Pjur. I'll definitely stick with their silicone Eros Bodyglide. This one is never seeing use again. :(

I wonder why this is priced so high?

Yikes that is really high priced.

It is priced high but Pjur lubes are one of the higher quality lubes from what I've heard. That is expensive though.

Thank you for viewing Aqua – lubricant review page!

We use this lube and we don't really have the sticky problem. It dried up for us. It kinda gets crusty...it's weird. We did have to reapply a lot which is a pain. I LOVE the Eros Bodyglide but we can't use it because we have silicone toys and a silicone diaphragm.
Thanks for the review!
Very good review, thanks!
Great review!
Great one, too bad their water based lube doesn't shine.
Great Review! Thanks for the heads up!
