Liquid silk - lubricant by Bodywise Limited - review by PassionQT

In my opinion, there are only a few good reasons to purchase Liquid Silk by Bodywise Limited, and it's not for its awesome lubricating abilities, which I found to be just so-so. The first and most appealing feature to me was that it looked like cum, and the physical response I received from my partner when he saw it smeared all over my pussy was priceless. The second reason someone may want to purchase this lube is that it's safer than other lubes out there due to a lack of glycerin and the addition of an anti-bacterial inhibitor claim. I found it really only suitable for most types of self-gratification and intercourse, but it wasn't ideal for anal play; it just didn't stay slippery long enough.

The appearance of Liquid Silk is opaque white, but when rubbed in to the skin, it disappears, almost too well to tell you the truth. The consistency reminded me a bit of handsoap, it's much thicker than say, Astroglide. When I rubbed it on my hand, it absorbed in a little over a minute with continuous friction, at which point I had to re-apply. Within 3 minutes it was almost completely dry. Even in a naturally moist environment such as the vagina, I needed to re-apply often. It actually reminds me of this liquid silky foot powder that I own.

It is water-based, so it's compatible with *most* toys, but from reading other reviews, it appears some have had negative reactions with some silicone toys, so just be cautious of that. It is non-tacky as the packaging describes and won't ball up. Like a moisturizer, it absorbs right in to the skin and leaves it feeling soft; however, it's supposed to be a lube, not a drink for parched skin.

Although it does contain parabens, more than I've ever seen in a bottle of lube, it does lack glycerin, which is often the cause of yeast infections and other irritations in women. Although not a selling point on the packaging, if you take a look at the manufacturer's website, Liquid Silk is described as being "bio-static", which means that "should it be exposed to any bacteria, yeast infection or fungal spores it will stop them spreading". I'm not a chemist, so I'm not sure what ingredients are contributing to that benefit, perhaps its the Cetearyl Alcohol, but if they claim it does that, that's a good thing if you are super sensitive.

It has a slight odor to it, nothing noticeable though once you get going. However, the taste is very bitter, definitely stronger than my Astroglide (one of my staple lubes) and not worth getting your tongue tangled up in for extended periods of time.

I found myself having to re-apply the product quite frequently, perhaps once every ten minutes or so. Some lubes I can apply once and I'm good to go for a good 30 minutes. This one just dried up too fast. While it was moist, which wasn't long, it felt good, but its "life-span" was too short-lived for me.

Currently, Edenfantasys only sells the 8.45 fluid ounce size of this lube, although there is a smaller, flip-top, 1.69 fluid ounce travel-size available from the manufacturer's website, but you would have to pay in British pounds as the company is located in the UK and that could get quite expensive. I recommend purchasing an empty travel-sized bottle to fill yourself if you want to take it along in your purse.

Dispensing the product is done with a one-touch hand pump that drops about a quarter-sized dollop of lube. It's also marked with an expiry date, about 5 years past when I purchased it, although I'm sure I will go through it much faster than that. Lastly, it's a #1 bottle, so it can be recycled!

None, other than it looks like spooge and that can come in handy during kinky roleplays!

Overall, Liquid Silk isn't the best lube out there, but it isn't the worst either. I think it really depends on what your personal preference is when it comes to selecting a good lubricant. For some, it's going to be based on how slippery it is, for others it will be based on allergic reactions, and for others it will be a combination of both. That said, I will continue to purchase this item because I haven't found any others that are white. So, I'm giving it a weak 4-star rating and it looses a full point and then some for NOT being long-lasting.
